1 Hadith Schemes of work Yr 7 Terms 4, 5 & 6 Work to be covered Mother Neighbours Other people in general Kindness to Animals All Pupils will: Learn how to create a great relationships, how to communicate and build trust. All pupils will learn what it means to be kind to animals. L.O L.O: pupils should know why Parents deserve respect. Pupils will answer question: 'Why did the blessed Prophet repeatedly stress respect for the mother?' They should include 6 points in their answer. Golden rule: ''Love your neighbour as yourself''. Treat others as you would want to be treated. Draw a person on the board, tell students that no-one would wants to talk/ play with him/her, talk about how no-one likes to be called names Pupils will answer a question: ''How did the Prophet (s.a.w) react when people harassed him.'' ''How can you love your neighbour at school? '' Write ''love'' on the board. Ask pupils to think of who they love. We should love everyone, not just friends, but neighbours too Treat all neighbours well Muslim or non-muslim. Neighbour can be who you are sitting next to. Look at presentation on neighbours. Give pupils notes on this See presentation on other people in general. 1. Discuss how animals should be treated 2. Describe proper ways of playing and interaction with animals. 3. Talk about animals being speechless, how they can't express their emotions. ''Fear Allah, with regards to these speechless animals''

2 Work to be covered L.O Test Rights and duties Discuss: Right to education. Humans have rights: Legal/ moral and spiritual rights. All pupils will understand the meaning of the term: A right is an expectation about something you deserve or a way to act that is justified through legal or moral foundation. Duties: Duties are the direct result of the acceptance of rights. Each person has a duty to uphold/ respect another s rights, just as he has the duty to uphold your rights. Freedom of speech: ask pupils what their life would be like if they were forbidden to speak about what they like. Freedom of assembly: Ask pupils to get into groups then tell them they can't be in those groups. Ask them how they would feel if this freedom was taken away from them. Gratitude Give notes on this Discuss primary (thank Allah) and secondary rights All pupils will know what Secondary rights are: sending durood on the Prophet (s.a.w), following sunnah etc. Pupils will answer questions on gratitude. Talk about what thankfulness and thanklessness leads to. Be thankful to people who have done favours for you, Muslim or non-muslim. Aqiqa Concept of aqiqa

3 Charity Occasions/ celebration Encourage pupils to bring in money to put in sadaqa box to assist the poor and needy/ teach them about charity and being generous to all. Celebrating occasions through Allah's obedience and abstinence from haraam. Test Truth and falsehood Activity 1: Right and wrong cards Pupils will write up a few cards with made up scenarios. Pupils will act out the scenarios on the cards (use props) Discuss each truth telling scenario/ what was wrong Activity 2: Art: Pupils will draw a picture of how they would feel if someone was honest to them, e.g they dropped their phone. Someone returned it to them. Teach about forgiveness. We all make mistakes, but must repent when dishonest. Activity 3: Chocolate activity: Bar full of nuts, solid bar, hollow shell Cut through the chocolates. Hollow: without faith (dishonest), nutty holding bad thoughts while appearing to be pure and pure choc is how we should be. Talk about white lies: Discuss why people lie, e.g to spare someone s feelings or avoid messy situations. Talk about what lies lead to.

4 Keeping promises To learn how to keep promises through the example of the Prophet (s.a.w) To know that the greatest promise is that which one fulfils by carrying out Allah's commands Pupils will know that promises shouldn't be made in haste. If a promise is made, it shouldn't be against Islam regardless of who it is made for. False Oaths Pupils will learn about perjury (lying under oath) Not making false statements Pupils will learn about the crime of fraud Why it's wrong to use god's name to lie Why it's wrong to lie to police/ the state Pupils will learn about the qualities of a truthful youngster through the example of Abdul Qadir Jilani Why elders' advice should be followed Everyone should be spoken to truthfully, regardless of who they are Benefits of telling the truth: Builds integrity (respect and esteem), Won't need to create a trail of deception, Telling the truth is from Islam Activity: Pupils will draw a comic strip to narrate the story The moral of the story will be written on a caravan template and then put up on display. End of topic Questions and test

5 Habits good and bad Right company Personal dignity Backbiting Pupils will know that the Prophet (s.a.w) possessed exemplary character Good habits should be derived from the Quraan and life of the Prophet (s.a.w) Having good morality isn't just for Muslims but for all Pupils will learn that actions reflect the company we keep Stay in the company of the pious- instil good qualities of taqwa and the righteous awliya Who the auliya are Surrounding oneself with dishonest/ immoral people will eventually lead to their traits rubbing off on you Choose people with solid character traits (intelligence, kindness and honesty) Define the term dignity: An individual's self-respect shown through humility/ show confidence without being arrogant. Link through spiritual cleanliness and visible cleanliness is through wudu (ablution) and salaah. Salaah purifies the soul and wudu washes away sin and impurity on the body. Discuss issues around cleanliness: Personal hygiene, Keeping surroundings clean, Keeping bathroom clean, cleanliness whilst eating, cleanliness around the house All pupils: To understand why back biting is wrong in Islam and avoiding negative assumption Negativity/ disadvantages of back biting Most pupils: Look at peoples good points and reflect on your own negatives Who is the bankrupt person on the day of Qiyamah? Evil wipes out good deeds Some pupils: Answer the question: ''How would you feel if you found out someone backbited about you? '' (A reflection of feelings task) False rumours Talk about being an example for others by not participating in rumours Understand the grave sin of spreading false rumours QUESTION AND TEST

6 Courtesies Courtesies for groups and public assemblies Visiting others Define the term courtesies: Linked with polite behaviour and good manners, treating people with respect, kindness and dignity. All pupils will know: Difference between courtesy and consideration: Both are similar (involve acting in another s' best interest) Courtesies: showing politeness in one's attitude, behaviour towards others in speech/ action. Basic manners are courtesies Differences: Courteous actions are always polite and considerate actions are only polite in certain situations. Courtesy is conventional and consideration is situational. All pupils will Pupils will simplify the difference between both in their own words. Students should be able to evaluate and explain how we should greet others what sort of tone of voice we should use how we should greet others Explain manner of visiting including best time to visit, sunnah method of seeking permission. Pupils will be able to define who the host is how we should welcome a guest Students should be able to evaluate and explain: how we should prepare for public gatherings why it s better to avoid forming small groups why Islam disapproves of extravagance in clothes Test and Questions Pupils will write down all the Sunnah covered during the year in bullet form. Begin revision of test and hand out revision notes. Games and Sports All Students should be able to evaluate and explain: How sports contribute to the health of the body

7 Prohibited games and explain why they are prohibited Activities which encourage time wasting Revision session Revise topics covered so far and terminology of words Test for previous chapters Promoting Unity Other Virtues Controlling Anger Luqman's advice to his son Revision session Know what unity means Result of unity What the Quraan commands about unity Know why one must avoid distrust know what a virtue is Be able to describe virtues Know some of the ways of overcoming one's anger and keeping self-control know what quality Luqman (a.s) is praised for in the Quraan Know the advice he was given Know why it is important to have some of these qualities in our lives How we must aim to change ourselves both inwardly and outwardly.
