2 1 ISLAMIC STATE ISLAMIC STATE LIBERATES THE CITY OF MOSUL The city of Mosul, situated adjacent to Dijlah (the Tigris River) in the northern Iraqi wilayah of Ninawa, is home to a population of 1.8 million people, most of whom are from Ahlus-Sunnah. It s a historical city that was conquered during the khilafah of Umar Ibn Al-Khattab (radiyallahu anh), and is currently the second largest city in Iraq after Baghdad. Its location lies at a junction linking routes from Iraq to Syria and Turkey. Mosul is also important economically, considering there are oil fields and refineries in the area, as well as pipelines for transferring oil to Sham and Turkey. The wilayat of Iraq also depend a lot upon Mosul Dam for their electricity. This past Monday, the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham liberated the city of Mosul in its entirety. Campaign Enter Upon Them Through the Gate succeeded in placing the city under the full control of the Islamic State, with thousands of prisoners freed from the Rafidi dungeons in Mosul during the course of the offensive. This followed a shift in the Islamic State s strategy, which now saw its forces leaving their desert strongholds in Iraq and making their way into the cities. Since the start of the jihad in 2003, the province of Al-Anbar has traditionally been the stronghold of the mujahidin, with Fallujah serving as its jihadi capital. In spite of the advantage of having a strong power base, the Islamic State understood that having just a single power base in any given region would work against them by giving their enemies a point of focus for their strikes. As a result, the Islamic State saw it necessary to further expand beyond its center of power and conduct large-scale operations in numerous regions of Iraq in order to confuse and overwhelm the Rafidi forces, spread their troops thin and subsequently capture entire cities and towns. The state would then continue its policy of governing any liberated areas in accordance with the Qur an and Sunnah, providing civilians with a range of social services based on the needs of the population and locality, and educating, recruiting, training and deploying more and more Muslims eager to play their role in rebuilding the Islamic khilafah.

3 I S L A M I C S TAT E The success of this strategy reached a high point on Monday as the soldiers of the Islamic State commenced the campaign to liberate Mosul. After an intelligence effort on the part of the Islamic State special units, studying the areas supposedly under the control of the apostates in Mosul, a diversion was planned and carried out by attacking and taking hold of parts of Samarra. The diversion succeeded in drawing the attention of Rafidi forces, and the Islamic State quickly took advantage. The mujahidin fought their way into Mosul and the Rafidi forces began abandoning their positions and fleeing. The mujahidin entered Mosul from a number of different places, and with the grace of Allah were able to take full control of all of their bases, including the Ghazlani and operational leadership bases, the 2nd Division base, Badush Prison, the temporary holding prisons, and brigade and regiment bases. Furthermore, thousands of male prisoners and some female prisoners were freed. Alhamdulillah, the Islamic State now fully controls all entrances to the wilayah and routes between its cities. The taghuti parliament speaker, Osama Al-Nujaifi, criticized Iraqi soldiers for fleeing their positions, calling their actions a dereliction of duty. Ironically, his brother Atheel Al-Nujaifi, the governor of Ninawa province, also fled for his life in the face of the Islamic State s assault. Even more embarrassing is that he reportedly urged Mosul s residents to stand firm and defend their areas just hours before he himself packed up and made his escape. 4 I S L A M I C S TAT E With the liberation of Mosul, the Islamic State now controls another major population center, mirroring its control of Ar-Raqqah in neighboring Sham. It continues to cater to the daily needs of its citizens in both regions even as it makes steady gains against both Iranian-backed regimes, crushes both American-backed sahwah initiatives, and guards against any possible Peshmerga and PKK advances on both the Iraqi and Syrian Kurdistan fronts. The Rafidi government is now left scrambling to pick up the pieces, with Al-Maliki calling for emergency powers, and Osama Al-Nujaifi begging the US ambassador and Kurdish officials for help. MUJAHIDIN HANDOUT SWEETS TO CELEBRATE THE VICTORY This victory was followed by the liberation of Tikrit, the capital of Salahuddin. Safawi soldiers and politicians continue to flee, with the soldiers removing their uniforms and abandoning their posts. 5 In a speech following these blessed victories from Allah, the mujahid shaykh Abu Muhammad Al- Adnani Ash-Shami the spokesman for the Islamic State called upon the soldiers of the state to carry on their advance towards Baghdad and onwards to Najaf and Karbala. He also eulogized the top military commander of the Islamic State overseeing the operations in Iraq, Abu Abdir-Rahman Al-Bilawi (rahimahullah), the master-mind behind the major victories of the past days. Abu Abdir-Rahman got shahadah a very short time before the Mosul victory. A very important lesson that Sh. Abu Muhammad Al- Adnani also emphasized was that the mujahidin should humble themselves and thank their Lord, for victory is only from Allah, and any pride or arrogance will cause that victory to be overturned. May Allah grant success to the lions of the Islamic State and continue to disgrace and humiliate the filthy Rafidah and their allies. 4
