11 th December 2011 The Greatest Delight Sister Eman al Obaid We need to listen to the words and act upon them. All our deeds should be good deeds. Look up to the sky and you go higher and higher in life we look like we are going down and down what will lift us up is the remembrance of Allah subhana wa ta ala. If you are only talking about the dunya (this World) all the time you will be very sad and depressed the worldly things make you feel down. how to feel more uplifted is the remembrance of Allah subhana wa ta ala the tonic for our souls. Our souls don t like to talk of worldly things we need something divine, something high, the remembrance of Allah subhana wa ta ala. mental problems, physical problems and for all the problems the solution is the remembrance of Allah subhana wa ta ala. Everything in our time is so much easier we have such advanced technology and machinery but we more other problems depression, psychological problems even though life is easier than before - something is lacking, more people are worried and sad. The clinics are very full psychological clinics are very expensive where is the lack? When we ignore our Creator, we don t know our Creator. Our hearts are empty and will take anything. Every name of Allah subhana wa ta ala will solve our problems. The 1 st meaning of The Truthful human beings like the truthful ones in life. Whatever you have or whatever you need I can rely on Him and trust Him trust is very important between relationships if there is no trust it is a big problem. No one is more truthful than our Creator because Allah subhana wa ta ala will fulfil His promise. Be grateful to Allah subhana wa ta ala and He will increase for - be grateful and Allah subhana wa ta ala will make all your affairs good and relieve the distress. Allah subhana wa ta ala is saying the truth especially regarding the promises. The One who is truthful and his Messengers are the truthful ones who bought the promises? Allah subhana wa ta ala through the Messengers what makes me believe the Messengers that Allah subhana wa ta ala is He proves that He is truthful and the Messengers are the truthful ones. AlhamduliLlah Praise be to Allah we say, at least I have one friend in my life who is truthful a friend who will say and prove that I am saying the truth. but don t rely on people when you are really in trouble will she help you? 1

the more we rely on people the more they will let us down the problem is that we are giving them more power. If you want anybody to believe you, you can only rely on Allah subhana wa ta ala to make people believe that you are saying the truth. The moment you rely on Allah subhana wa ta ala you affirm that; Allah subhana wa ta ala is witness over you, that; Allah subhana wa ta ala knows about it and; Allah subhana wa ta ala will prove to everybody this person is the truthful one it is so beautiful when the truth comes from Allah subhana wa ta ala. Incident of Aisha radia Allahu 'Anha Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu alayhi wa sallam took her to one place and when coming back from Madina they didn t realise she was missing she got left behind searching for a lost necklace, she fell asleep and the caravan left without her a man came and saw her and agreed to take her to the caravan when they reached the caravan people saw Aisha radia Allahu 'Anha with one man people accused her of having an affair Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu alayhi wa sallam didn t know if this was true or false she is pleading that she is innocent and that Allah subhana wa ta ala will show her innocence Allah subhana wa ta ala is to prove or verify that indeed she was truthful Allah subhana wa ta ala revealed a verse Allah subhana wa ta ala is The Witness, He can verify and will be on your side. (6) Narrated Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) "Whenever Allah's Apostle intended to go on a journey, he would draw lots amongst his wives and would take with him the one upon whom the lot fell. During a Ghazwa of his, he drew lots amongst us and the lot fell upon me, and I proceeded with him after Allah had decreed the use of the veil by women. I was carried in a Howdah (on the camel) and dismounted while still in it. When Allah's Apostle was through with his Ghazwa and returned home, and we approached the city of Medina, Allah's Apostle ordered us to proceed at night. When the order of setting off was given, I walked till I was past the army to answer the call of nature. After finishing I returned (to the camp) to depart (with the others) and suddenly realized that my necklace over my chest was missing. So, I returned to look for it and was delayed because of that. The people who used to carry me on the camel, came to my Howdah and put it on the back of the camel, thinking that I was in it, as, at that time, women were light in weight, and thin and lean, and did not use to eat much. So, those people did not feel the difference in the heaviness of the Howdah while lifting it, and they put it over the camel. At that time I was a young lady. They set the camel moving and proceeded on. I found my necklace after the army had gone, and came to their camp to find nobody. So, I went to the place where I used to stay, thinking that they would discover my absence and come back in my search. While in that state, I felt sleepy and slept. Safwan bin Mu'attal As-Sulami Adh-Dhakwani was behind the army and reached my abode in the morning. When he saw a sleeping person, he came to me, and he used to see me before veiling. So, I got up when I heard him saying, "Inna lil-lah-wa inn a ilaihi rajiun (We are for Allah, and we will return to Him)." He made his camel knell down. He got down from his camel, and put his leg on the front legs of the camel and then I rode and sat over it. Safwan set out walking, leading the camel by the rope till we reached the army who had halted to take rest at midday. Then whoever was meant for destruction, fell into destruction, (some people accused me falsely) and the leader of the false accusers was 'Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul. After that we returned to Medina, and I became ill for one month while the people were spreading the forged statements of the false accusers. I was feeling during my ailment as if I were not receiving the usual kindness from the Prophet which I used to receive from him when I got sick. But he would come, greet and say, 'How is that (girl)?' I did not know anything of what was going on till I recovered from my ailment and went out with Um Mistah to the Manasi where we used to answer the call of nature, and we used not to go to answer the call of nature except from night to night and that was before we had lavatories near to our houses. And this habit of ours was similar to the habit of the old 'Arabs in the open country (or away from houses). So. I and Um Mistah bint Ruhm went out walking. Um Mistah stumbled because of her long dress and on that she said, 'Let Mistah be ruined.' I said, 'You are saying a bad word. Why are 2

you abusing a man who took part in (the battle of) Badr?' She said, 'O Hanata (you there) didn't you hear what they said?' Then she told me the rumors of the false accusers. My sickness was aggravated, and when I returned home, Allah's Apostle came to me, and after greeting he said, 'How is that (girl)?' I requested him to allow me to go to my parents. I wanted then to be sure of the news through them I Allah's Apostle allowed me, and I went to my parents and asked my mother, 'What are the people talking about?' She said, 'O my daughter! Don't worry much about this matter. By Allah, never is there a charming woman loved by her husband who has other wives, but the women would forge false news about her.' I said, 'Glorified be Allah! Are the people really taking of this matter?' That night I kept on weeping and could not sleep till morning. In the morning Allah's Apostle called Ali bin Abu Talib and Usama bin Zaid when he saw the Divine Inspiration delayed, to consul them about divorcing his wife (i.e. 'Aisha). Usama bin Zaid said what he knew of the good reputation of his wives and added, 'O Allah's Apostle! Keep you wife, for, by Allah, we know nothing about her but good.' 'Ali bin Abu Talib said, 'O Allah's Apostle! Allah has no imposed restrictions on you, and there are many women other than she, yet you may ask the woman-servant who will tell you the truth.' On that Allah's Apostle called Buraira and said, 'O Burair. Did you ever see anything which roused your suspicions about her?' Buraira said, 'No, by Allah Who has sent you with the Truth, I have never seen in her anything faulty except that she is a girl of immature age, who sometimes sleeps and leaves the dough for the goats to eat.' On that day Allah's Apostle ascended the pulpit and requested that somebody support him in punishing 'Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul. Allah's Apostle said, 'Who will support me to punish that person ('Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul) who has hurt me by slandering the reputation of my family? By Allah, I know nothing about my family but good, and they have accused a person about whom I know nothing except good, and he never entered my house except in my company.' Sad bin Mu'adh got up and said, 'O Allah's Apostle! by Allah, I will relieve you from him. If that man is from the tribe of the Aus, then we will chop his head off, and if he is from our brothers, the Khazraj, then order us, and we will fulfill your order.' On that Sad bin 'Ubada, the chief of the Khazraj and before this incident, he had been a pious man, got up, motivated by his zeal for his tribe and said, 'By Allah, you have told a lie; you cannot kill him, and you will never be able to kill him.' On that Usaid bin Al-Hadir got up and said (to Sad bin 'Ubada), 'By Allah! you are a liar. By Allah, we will kill him; and you are a hypocrite, defending the hypocrites.' On this the two tribes of Aus and Khazraj got excited and were about to fight each other, while Allah's Apostle was standing on the pulpit. He got down and quietened them till they became silent and he kept quiet. On that day I kept on weeping so much so that neither did my tears stop, nor could I sleep. In the morning my parents were with me and I had wept for two nights and a day, till I thought my liver would burst from weeping. While they were sitting with me and I was weeping, an Ansari woman asked my permission to enter, and I allowed her to come in. She sat down and started weeping with me. While we were in this state, Allah's Apostle came and sat down and he had never sat with me since the day they forged the accusation. No revelation regarding my case came to him for a month. He recited Tashah-hud (i.e. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is His Apostle) and then said, 'O 'Aisha! I have been informed such-and-such about you; if you are innocent, then Allah will soon reveal your innocence, and if you have committed a sin, then repent to Allah and ask Him to forgive you, for when a person confesses his sin and asks Allah for forgiveness, Allah accepts his repentance.' When Allah's Apostle finished his speech my tears ceased completely and there remained not even a single drop of it. I requested my father to reply to Allah's Apostle on my behalf. My father said, By Allah, I do not know what to say to Allah's Apostle.' I said to my mother, 'Talk to Allah's Apostle on my behalf.' She said, 'By Allah, I do not know what to say to Allah's Apostle. I was a young girl and did not have much knowledge of the Quran. I said. 'I know, by Allah, that you have listened to what people are saying and that has been planted in your minds and you have taken it as a truth. Now, if I told you that I am innocent and Allah knows that I am innocent, you would not believe me and if I confessed to you falsely that I am guilty, and Allah knows that I am innocent you would believe me. By Allah, I don't compare my situation with you except to the situation of Joseph's father (i.e. Jacob) who said, 'So (for me) patience is most fitting against that which you assert and it is Allah (Alone) whose help can be sought.' Then I turned to the other side of my bed hoping that Allah would prove my innocence. By Allah I never thought that Allah would reveal Divine Inspiration in my case, as I considered myself too 3

inferior to be talked of in the Holy Qur'an. I had hoped that Allah's Apostle might have a dream in which Allah would prove my innocence. By Allah, Allah's Apostle had not got up and nobody had left the house before the Divine Inspiration came to Allah's Apostle. So, there overtook him the same state which used to overtake him, (when he used to have, on being inspired divinely). He was sweating so much so that the drops of the sweat were dropping like pearls though it was a (cold) wintry day. When that state of Allah's Apostle was over, he was smiling and the first word he said, 'Aisha! Thank Allah, for Allah has declared your innocence.' My mother told me to go to Allah's Apostle. I replied, 'By Allah I will not go to him and will not thank but Allah.' So Allah revealed: "Verily! They who spread the slander are a gang among you..." (24.11) When Allah gave the declaration of my Innocence, Abu Bakr, who used to provide for Mistah bin Uthatha for he was his relative, said, 'By Allah, I will never provide Mistah with anything because of what he said about Aisha.' But Allah later revealed: -- "And let not those who are good and wealthy among you swear not to help their kinsmen, those in need and those who left their homes in Allah's Cause. Let them forgive and overlook. Do you not wish that Allah should forgive you? Verily! Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful." (24.22) After that Abu Bakr said, 'Yes! By Allah! I like that Allah should forgive me,' and resumed helping Mistah whom he used to help before. Allah's Apostle also asked Zainab bint Jahsh (i.e. the Prophet's wife about me saying, 'What do you know and what did you see?' She replied, 'O Allah's Apostle! I refrain to claim hearing or seeing what I have not heard or seen. By Allah, I know nothing except goodness about Aisha." Aisha further added "Zainab was competing with me (in her beauty and the Prophet's love), yet Allah protected her (from being malicious), for she had piety." (Book #48, Hadith #829) Rely on Allah subhana wa ta ala and the help will come. Allah subhana wa ta ala sent the Messengers, they convey the message and the truth. Allah subhana wa ta ala will support them with the miracles in order that the people will believe. Do human beings have miracles? No a karama will happen to show the truthfulness of that person. Those of you having faith in Allah subhana wa ta ala, the more He will be on your side, the more He will be your guardian. Allah subhana wa ta ala will support and prove the truthful of His Messengers. And He will prove your truthfulness to everybody. Allah subhana wa ta ala will fulfil His promises and prove the messages. Allah subhana wa ta ala will prove the truthfulness of Himself You don t need anybody to prove you are saying the truth outside the miracles there is???? Someone you really trust and they say something and you believe them blindly sometimes. If a stranger tells you the same thing it is harder to trust them, harder to take. No one is more truthful than Allah subhana wa ta ala Allah subhana wa ta ala is truthful regarding Himself The Creator The Qur an is kalamullah when you read the Qur an you believe everything i.e. in paradise the rivers are of different flavours, they taste of wine, taste sweet, taste of honey and milk. If I tell you that I have a river of chocolate will you believe me Allah subhana wa ta ala is the Most Truthful and told us in the Qur an that there are rivers in paradise of different flavours. SubhanaAllah (Glory be to Allah) if Allah subhana wa ta ala says He is The Truthful and the Qur an is filled with the news from Allah subhana wa ta ala the Truthful One. I.e. if I say I have all types of animals in my house, the human being needs to see it to believe it. For Allah subhana wa ta ala because He is The Truthful One we do not to see it to believe it. Nobody saw what is in paradise. Did anyone see what is in hell? if we see it we cannot sleep. 4

Did anyone see shaitan (the devil)? if we see it we cannot sleep. With the name you need to believe all the news He tells you not just the promises but everything. How will Allah subhana wa ta ala prove the truthfulness of Himself? Everything is in the Qur an. The Qur an - when somebody first reads it, they will say it is not arranged by subject in each chapter everything is random, but the more they read the Qur an they will find it is not random Allah subhana wa ta ala knows human beings get bored very quickly there are random changes in the subjects but there is a connection SubhanaAllah. in the Qur an the mixture of the subjects / topics prove that Allah subhana wa ta ala is saying the truth. How? The Qur an has different topics, legislation, news, what happened in the past and what will happen in the future scientific evidences or miracles. From among all this what will make someone from all this to believe in the Qur an that Allah subhana wa ta ala is the Truthful One? the scientific miracles some are in the beginning of a surah, some in the middle of a chapter, some verses are at the end of a surah with the Qur an Allah subhana wa ta ala is proving the truthfulness of Himself. Every time someone reads the Qur an they find something new. Allah doesn t need to prove the truthfulness of Himself. But human beings are always arguing. Human beings are always debating Allah subhana wa ta ala is making it a point to say the truthfulness of Himself. How? in the Qur an True Story - One lady, a famous singer, very beautiful she was searching for something, feeling suicidal famous people go crazy due to fame she decided to go an island and stay and relax she went to an island where there was a Muslim who gave her a Qur an saying this was part of our culture he didn t say it was part of Islam while randomly reading the Qur an she would look up and see the proof of Allah before her own eyes. how Allah subhana wa ta ala prove the truthfulness of Himself as if the Qur an is proving itself by one just looking at the creation reading and pondering The Qur an is proving the truthfulness of one God this is the truth imagine no messenger, just one person alone and she have a book and He prove the truthfulness of Himself with the help of a book. Sometimes we try so hard to do dawah trying to prove something dawah can be with people or without people. I.e. in a family no one is practising Islam then one child will come who loves praying and doing good deeds who conveyed the message to the child Allah subhana wa ta ala Himself, proving the truthfulness of Himself. When will we ponder on the Qur an according to your situation this will make you to ponder. Someone who is not Muslim, He will prove to them that there is only one god. If you have no provision He will prove He is The Provider provision will come from nowhere. Allah subhana wa ta ala will prove He is Al Razaq The Provider something happens in your life and you move from one city and go to another city at the time you don t know the wisdom behind this after many years you understand that is why I came here it is as if Allah subhana wa ta ala prove His truthfulness as nobody has the wisdom, nobody has the provision. 5

Through the Qur an or through the universe - when we look at the creation it is so different / varied, it is so beautiful and nice even the universe is proving the truthfulness of Allah subhana wa ta ala He is the only Creator. In the Qur an there is no contradiction with what He says, it will happen Allah subhana wa ta ala will give you a good life if you do good deeds. You need someone to interpret from what the name will prove the truthfulness of Himself. If I want to prove the truthfulness of myself I need a source from outside, this is another human being. For Allah subhana wa ta ala He doesn t a source, He is saying the truthfulness of Himself Look at the Qur an and look at the universe. Look at how Allah subhana wa ta ala deals with the believer, deals with the disbeliever, deals with someone guided. If you do something bad to somebody, somebody will do something bad to you life is like that. Remember the story of the man who beat his father the man took his father to the desert to kill him and take his wealth when they got to the desert the father said kill me on this particular rock the son asked why on this rock? the father said because I did exactly what you are about to do to me to my father on this rock so do the same to me. It is the same when Allah subhana wa ta ala deals with His creation no one has a blood relation with Allah subhana wa ta ala we are close to Allah subhana wa ta ala according to our belief and our good deeds. According to your faith in Allah subhana wa ta ala, Allah subhana wa ta ala will deal with the creation in the same way. Allah subhana wa ta ala mentioned this in the Qur an and the hadith. When Allah subhana wa ta ala proves Himself he doesn t need to prove. The believer needs what Allah subhana wa ta ala says, Allah subhana wa ta ala is saying the truth, He is. I believe in Allah subhana wa ta ala, I believe Allah subhana wa ta ala is - that is why I am a believer. Allah subhana wa ta ala sent the message, He is merciful, He is Al Hakim because I am a believer I believe all that. 1 st meaning - The Truthful The Angels are truthful, the Messengers are truthful and only He can prove that you are truthful. Allah subhana wa ta ala is the proof of Himself and I believe in Him. The weight of all this is very heavy on the scale believe in everything and His promises without looking / seeing because a Muslim says Ashhadu, a Muslim says I witness as if I don t see it He is The Truthful One. 2 nd meaning a) Al Musaddiq - The Truthful for Himself, for The Messengers and His promises b) - the One who grants security the One who grants security. In our life we need someone who is truthful and the other thing we need is security. In our relationships truth goes with security when we have both we are not afraid. If someone is lying we will know it. 6

The One who gives security gives me a feeling of stability, the One to whom I make al istikhara (the guidance prayer) the One you dream about. When we really feel secure and are living in stability you feel happy, you feel peaceful. When we feel insecure we are afraid afraid from danger, afraid from sickness, afraid from poverty, afraid from loneliness, always afraid something bad will happen. Security will give us balance in our life, security and stability give us happiness. This feeling of security we really need it in our relationships between ourselves with our family, with our work, with our society, with our environment. Sociological rule insane (mankind) cannot live or do any activity without feeling secure. Without security nothing will motivate you to do anything or to progress. Security will give you more energy for your relationships and to progress. for example at work motivation is security, support, a strong company, knowledge. The more security you have the more you are relaxed and happy and perform better. - in marriage insecurity is the cause of a breakdown in the marriage, you have no energy, the fear leads to separation and then divorce. - with children parents feel insecure that one day they will marry and leave them. Insecurity is not a comfortable feeling with our friends we feel insecure that they will leave you and many other insecurities with friends. - with our environment we feel insecure because we are afraid of earthquakes etc., or that we will catch some disease. AlhamduliLlah the more we feel secure the more energy we have. Those who have no security they have no hope and they cannot enjoy life they may have money but they don t feel secure security is what we need in life if we have security we will have everything. No one has 100% security. Small children they feel insecure when their mother goes to work or comes to dars - teenagers will no problem you go and will encourage you to go and be out of the house. Small children will sacrifice their sleep to be with their mother one age group has that then they get through that and have insecurities in other things. In life we go from one insecurity to another insecurity. When we know we have something we are afraid to loose it, we struggle to keep it we want to overcome this security is a need for everybody that is why there are so many insurance companies around making a huge profit human beings want that security. Needing security is normal so we try to get it. For example when we come into contact with someone suffering from flu, our insecurity is that we will catch the flu so we take precautions this is a good / healthy feeling of insecurity. Too much feeling of insecurity will make wiswas (whispers of shaitan) For example when a woman conceives a baby she will take too many precautions after the baby is born she is crazy washing, cleaning the baby, she is afraid that if the baby touches anything it will get sick. Sometimes we need the feeling of insecurity but too much is no good - a little is good for protection from danger i.e. protect from drowning or falling. 7

Too much is a very common psychological problem insecurity in everything is a sickness. The way a person is brought up will be carried with them all the time especially the love. If you do not solve the problem - when grow up they will be insecure from everybody they will have obsessions. This will create too much tension. they will do the same thing repeatedly or they will avoid places and people they will deal with people harshly. Why? Because they are feeling insecure it is not easy to deal with this type of personality. With everything they panic it is difficult to live with that person everything is a problem you don t always want to hear that we are in danger or that we will go to hell. Insecurity is a fitna (causing problems between people) if people have insecurity where is the solution? - we try and get security from a means, from people this doesn t solve the problem of insecurity because other people don t know why you are insecure. - Insecurity with relationships if you don t find out why you will have a problem in this i.e. some people will eat excessively, some people will spend excessively, some people will be arrogant, some people will oppress somebody. Oppressing people makes them arrogant due to their insecurity give him / her power and money and they will abuse it to make himself / herself feel secure oppressing others is a feeling of insecurity. Security is very important in our life. Who will give us security? - Having security will fill the gap in the heart. the One who will the fill gap is He is the One who grants security and the One who gives security. Know Allah subhana wa ta ala is, the one who gives security will solve all your problems. We ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and His Mercy. Anything that is good from these notes is from Allah subhana wa ta ala. Any mistakes & misrepresentations are my own. I ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and to put forgiveness in the hearts of those who read them. JazakAllah Khairan. 8
