2 Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh Dear Parent/ Carer, All Praise is due to Allah Alone, the Creator, the Sustainer and the Almighty. May Peace and Blessings be upon the Imam of the Ambiya, the most beloved unto Allah, who was sent as a mercy to mankind; Muhammad Rasulullah Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam. Alhamdulillah, with Abrar Academy being in it s fourth full year, I am delighted to present to you the Prospectus for the year 2012/13. This prospectus will make you aware of our ethos and will give you an insight into life as a student at Abrar Academy. As your child embarks upon the next journey of their life, you as parents must look beyond and explore the ethos and vision of every school to ensure a safe and successful journey for your child. Our true Islamic foundation ensures that the true Islamic values such as respect, compassion (Shafqat), selfdiscipline (Taqwa), tolerance and individual worth, coincide with the high aspirational targets that an Islamic school instils. We realise that our young people are our greatest asset, and they deserve to be taught well, by outstanding teachers, using the latest technology and learning styles. We are a place much more than where young people come to learn Islamic and Secular education; in fact we endeavour to be a place where a child is nurtured through parent partnership the teachings of Qur an and Sunnah, in to a truly outstanding citizen and Muslim. I pray to the Almighty that he grants your child the best in both this world and the Hereafter. Wassalam For and on behalf of Shaikhul Hadith Hazrat Maulana Fazlehaq Wadee Sahib Damat Barakatuhum Founder of Abrar Academy

4 Alim Course (Theology) Alim Course - The Islamic syllabus and curriculum of Abrar Academy is based on the traditional Islamic course known as Dars Nizami. During the 6th century AH, the Dars Nizami formalized and systemized the method of acquiring knowledge in the Middle East. Since then, it has undergone numerous stages of development. The course was brought to the Indian subcontinent in the 11th century AH. Dars Nizami is taught throughout the world, in thousands of Madaris, as the standard course for the acquisition of the Islamic sacred sciences. It was brought to England, in the 1970s, by various teachers and Islamic scholars from the sub-continent. The Dars Nizami is based on a thorough, broad and balanced syllabus, designed to inculcate within the students a wide range of knowledge, skills, and practical experiences. It concentrates on the academic and educational development of the student, as well as placing great emphasis on the student s moral, social and character development. The Madrasah aims to provide students with quality education and a platform for striving for excellence. Further, the Madrasah seeks to develop and expand each student s knowledge of Allah s relationship to mankind within an environment that encourages excellence in every area of life. Aims and Outcomes of the Madrasah Curriculum Cater for the needs of individual children from all ethnic and social groups, including the most able and those who are experiencing difficulties. 5 morally, so that they may become independent, responsible, useful thinking confidant and considerate members of the community. Recognise the crucial role that parents play in their children s education and make effort to encourage parental involvement in the educational process. Create and maintain an exciting and stimulating learning environment to develop each student s ability to think, analyse and solve problems independently. Provide a broad and balanced curriculum. Treat students in a dignified way. To promote and encourage the tolerance of other faiths and major world religions and to be a good and productive citizen in the society. Learn: to be adaptable; how to solve problems in a variety of situations; how to work independently and as members of a team. Collective Worship (A amal) Daily Fardh Salaah with Jama ah Summer: Zohar Salaah Winter: Zohar, Asr, and occasionally Fajr and Maghrib Jumma Khutbah and Salaah Daily Surah Yaseen & Hizbul Azam Recitation Surah Kahaf on Friday Occasional collective Zikr majlis Spiritual Course Tarbiyah Tarbiyah is an important component of the Abrar Academy ethos. Although, we aspire to excel in academic achievement, we believe this is a by product where through verbal and visual communication and positive role models we aim to facilitate a positive change within our students, a change which reflects the sublime conduct and deeds of our Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). Through the year, students will study a well - organised holistic self - disciplinary programme, the intended outcome of which is to support students towards becoming practising Muslims. This spiritual tarbiyah course will be covered throughout the year under the supervision of the form tutor at 8:30am-8:45am daily. The Spiritual Tarbiyah Course will include monitoring of Fardh salah punctuality, daily Qur an recitation, reading of morning & evening duas and azkaar, inculcating a habit of Sadaqah and Nafl salah, practising Sunnah and etiquettes of eating, sleeping, dressing, social conduct, cleanliness and more. We urge parents that you encourage and monitor your child whilst at home to continue practicing the spiritual tarbiyah course.

6 Hifz Course (Memorising the Qur an) "And We (Allah) have made the Holy Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will receive admonition."(the Quran, 54:17) One of the means through which Allah has assured the protection of the Holy Quran is the fact that He made the memorization of His Book an easy task for the believers. In fact, the Holy Quran is the only religious Scripture that is memorized by its followers. Innumerable persons in every Muslim community have memorized the whole Quran since the first day it was revealed as part of their love and devotion to the Book of Allah. The one who memorizes the whole Quran is known as a Hafiz. It is a miracle that the Hafiz not only memorizes the entire text of the Holy Quran, but also the punctuation and diatrical marks of each and every word and verse of the Quran. Abdullah ibn Amr bin Al-As (RA) reported: The Prophet (SAW) said, "The one who was devoted to the Qur'an will be told on the Day of Resurrection: `Recite and ascend (in ranks) as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last Ayah you recite.''' (Abu Dawud /Tirmidhi). This Hadith mentions the merit of those who memorize part or all of the Qur'an. Some scholars, in explaining this Hadith, have mentioned that the number of ranks (levels) in Paradise is equal to the number of ayahs in the Qur an, and that a believer will rise one rank for each ayah that he or she memorizes. In another Hadith, Uthman bin Affan (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah said, "The best amongst you is the one who learns the Qur'an and teaches it.'' (Bukhari). Hifz Requisites and Standards At Abrar Academy we aim to give every student the opportunity to undertake the noble task of Hifz. Primarily, it is difficult to assess the Hifz capability of a student, therefore all students will undergo a 6 month probationary period to determine the ability of a child. It is vital that parents and students recognize that the completion of Hifz requires an ideal situation. We can measure an ideal situation by considering the following points: students, parents and teachers exert consistency, patience and effort positive learning atmosphere and disciplined time management at home appreciations, rewards and incentives healthy routine No music at all extremely minimal involvement in multimedia and computer games consoles An enthusiastic high interest and involvement in memorizing the Quran, complimented by interest increasing activities such as prayers, frequenting the masjid, listening to the Quran and most importantly continuous duas. Homework also supports the development of independent learning skills and provides parents with an opportunity to take part in their children's education. Parents are encouraged to monitor their child s planners. Students arriving late without a valid excuse will have to serve a detention during lunch time. If your child will be absent due to a valid reason, illness, appointment etc. Please inform us either a day before or on the day by phoning the office on between 8:45am and 9:15am.
