1 NAMES OF ALLAH AL AZIZ APRIL 25, 2017 INTRODUCTION We need to believe when we remember Allah by ourselves then Allah will remember us Himself. And when we remember Allah in a gathering, He will remember us in a better gathering in front of the angels.

2 MEANING OF AL AZIZ IN ARABIC 1. In Arabic it means the one who is unique and nothing can be like him i.e. (نادر) (something rare). You cannot find an example like it. 2. Aziz means Jaleel i.e. having honor and giving positon e.g. my mother is aziza ( it means dear to my heart). It means something that no one can replace. 3. Aziz means (القوي) i.e. strong and that does not change. Whatever He will say will happen. No one can interfere. (الغالب) everything 4. Aziz is the One dominating 5. Aziz means (المنیع) no one can be above him. He is irresistible. No one can resist him. ALLAH AL AZIZ 1. Allah is Al Aziz and No one can be more Aziz than Allah. No one can be stronger, rarer, more dominating or more irresistable than Him. 2. A person might be aziz in his country but when he goes to another he s not. Maybe with certain people you re aziz and with others you re not. The opposite of aziz is (ذلیل) humiliated. A person might be aziz in one area of work but humiliated in another. 3. Allah says in Surah Yunus Ayah 65 that to Allah belongs all the Aizza. If we want honour we need to go to the one who owns it. و لا ی ح ز نك ق و ل ھ م إ ن ال ع زة 5 ج م یع ا ھ و ال سم یع ال ع ل یم ٦٥ And let not their speech grieve you (O Muhammad SAW), for all power and honour belong to Allah. He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 2

4. Allah says in Surah Aal e Imran Ayah 26 that Allah is able to give honor to someone who did not have it before and he is able to remove honor from someone who had it once.

In Your Hand is the good. Verily, You are Able to do all things. 5. Everyone wants honour but we want it the right way.we want to be respected by others. However honor is not in what you wear, what you ride and where you live but the true honor is when you believe in Allah and Islam. If riches of the Duniya brought honor then Firoun and Qaroon would have honor but Qaroon is sinkng in the earth. 6. The Prophet SAW said three things will cause destruction in human being. One of which is feeling proud of himself. Pride does not bring honor. 7. Being a muslim and following the sunnah brings honor.islam is the religion of honor because you only ask Allah and you only worship Him. This gives you so much dignity as you are slave of one Rabb only 3

4 EXAMPLE OF UMAR IBN AL KHATTAB Omar ibn Khattab opened Bait Maqdus and he was to receive the keys of Bait Al Maqdus and people said to him to change his clothes. He replied Allah has honored us with islam and if we seek honor from other than Islam then Allah will humiliate us KEY POINTS Honor is with islam, honor is when you pray and when you follow the way of islam. Its not what people want you to do. Islam takes you out of worshipping many idols to worshiping one true God. The real humiliation is to follow the duniya. None is more honorable and majestic than Allah and no one can humiliate you except Allah Allah is Al Qawaiyy and He has full power and ability. He can make the impossible possible. Who would have imagined Musa (as) would be saved as a baby and raised in the very house of the enemy who wanted to kill him and the fire was made cool and peaceful to Ibrahim AS Allah never hesitates from anything except for one matter, what is it? To take the soul of the believer because he hates death and Allah hates to make him feel pain. If you want position and honor then ask Allah Al Aziz, don t say why so and so honor? Whatever Allah wants then no one can resist and whatever He does not want, and then no one can make it happen. The Prophet (ﷺ) wanted to migrate to Medina and ten men with swords surrounded his house, but Allah made them all fall asleep. The Prophet left his house and put sand on all their heads. Allah could have made (ﷺ) 4

Allah is Al Aziz, there is no example like him. 1. To seek honor only from Allah Al Aziz. Hope only from Him and this will make you peaceful in life. You don t need to be jealous or proud or dispute. 2. Honor is when you follow the commands of Al Aziz and humiliation is when you violate the rules of Al Aziz. For this reason don t underestimate sins. Allah can easily replace us and this is not difficult for Allah Do you not see that Allah has created the heavens and the earth with truth? If He will, He can remove you and bring (in your place) a new creation! And for Allah that is not hard or difficult (i.e. very easy for Allah). 3. We need to be aziz, by pardoning others. When people are doing bad to you and you pardon them then this is honor. You don t need to react, shout or scream, someone who s aziz has dignity, honor and position. 5

6 HADITH Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Charity does not diminish wealth, Allah does not increase a man in anything for his pardoning (others) but in honor, and none humbles himself for Allah but Allah raises him." Jami` at-tirmidhi 2029 everyone makes mistakes so pardon others. 6
