2 INTRODUCTION Akbar Ibn Abdullah, Editor I first received this sad obituary news from Brother Amir Aziz, General Secretary, AAIIL, Pakistan. I then, with a heavy heart and great sorrow, announced the sad demise of Ahmad Sadiq Sahib, of Houston, Texas, USA, who returned to his Maker during the blessed month of Ramadan. The Marhoom was the beloved father of Dr. Mohammad Ahmad, President of AAIIL, Ohio, USA, Mr. Munir Ahmad, Mr. Waqar Ahmad, Dr. Naeem Ahmad, and Sisters Gul Khalil, Sahida and Farida. Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilehi Rajeoon. Although in Abbottabad, Pakistan, the deceased was a client of Ferozsons Laboratories Limited, Nowshera, where I was Divisional Manager, Pharmaceutical Plant, however, I did not have the opportunity of meeting him until 1994 when I visited him at Houston, Texas. I found him to be very pleasant, devoted and hospitable. He was a staunch and dedicated member of the Jama at, and we will all miss him. May Allah (swt) have mercy on his soul and grant him an abode in high places of the Heaven of eternity (Jannate-Firdouse). Aameen. We also pray that Allah (swt) will grant the surviving members of the Marhoom, especially Dr. Mohammad Ahmad Sahib and his siblings, ease in their grief that they can handle with patience, strength, comfort such an irreparable personal loss. Aameen. Members of our global Jama ats were requested to conduct Salat-e-Janaza Ghaibana for the soul of the dearly departed and we have received reports that it was performed by many of our Jama ats. Also, several persons contacted the family directly, by phone or , to express their condolences, after obtaining the relevant number and address by writing to The Bulletin. Alhamdulillah! The differences between the earthly life and the life hereafter This world s life is transitory and mortal, and thus is confined within certain limitations. But the life hereafter is everlasting; hence everything is not confined to any restrictions or limits. So it follows that compared to the limited means of pleasures and comforts of this world, such means as available in the afterlife would also be limitless and perpetual in their nature; and although these means would not be identical with those of the earthly means, yet they would be somewhat similar so that the human soul may understand and make use of them to enjoy the pleasures and comforts. The Holy Qur an says: And give good news to those who believe and do good deeds, that for them are Gardens in which rivers flow. Whenever they are given a portion of the fruit of these (Gardens), they will say: This is what was given to us before; and they are given the like of it. And they will have therein pure companions and therein they will abide (2:25). However, the Holy Prophet has said that the good things and pleasures of heaven would be so excellent, delicious and different in all respects that no human eye has ever seen these before nor human ears have heard of them, and the human mind cannot quite comprehend them. We announce the sad demise of our very respectable, venerate and devoted member, Ahmad Sadiq sahib, who passed away in the USA a few hours ago. He was the father of the President of AAIIL Ohio USA, Dr. Mohammad Ahmad sahib. Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilehi Rajeoon. On behalf of Hazrat Ameer and members of AAIIL we condole his sad death and pray to Allah that may Allah bless his soul in the heaven of eternity. May Allah have mercy on Marhoom and grant him an abode in high place in Paradise. We also pray that may Allah grant patience, fortitude and perseverance to the family members to bear this great loss. 4 REMEMBRANCE Nasir Ahmad of the United Kingdom Remembering the late Mr. Ahmad Sadiq I remember him when he lived in Ahmadiyya Buildings, Lahore. Nadir Manzil in Ahmadiyya Buildings, Lahore was a building near the Ahmadiyya Mosque and was used as a students hostel. The late Mr. Ahmad Sadiq lived in a room shared by three other persons: the late Dr. S. Muhammad Yusuf Ahmad, the late Mian Fazal Karim Sahib, and Mr. Abdul Ghafoor Saqib. All these were very fast friends and equally sincere Ahmadis. Each one of them was working in different fields. The late Dr. Ahmad was a research scholar at the P.C.S.I.R Lahore, Mian Fazal Karim held a good position in Prudential Insurance Company, Lahore, and Mr. Abdul Ghafoor Saqib was the Personal Assistant to the Chairman, Lahore Improvement Trust. In spite of working in different fields, these four were great friends and fine gentlemen. Mr. Ahmad Sadiq was the person in charge at Muslim High School, Lahore, which was very near to Ahmadiyya Buildings. My two brothers and I passed our Matriculation exam from that school. There I had the opportunity to see Mr. Sadiq Sahib working. I found him always busy engaged in some work. He was very polite with the students and was quite helpful. His attitude with the teachers and students was appreciated by all. Because of him other workers in the school office were also efficient and helpful. He was a quiet and down to earth person with a sweet nature, and his behaviour with others was very warm, affectionate and sympathetic. He later left Lahore and started a chemist shop in his native town, Abbottabad. His honesty, hard work and way of dealing with the customers made his business flourish. Unfortunately in 1974, during the anti-ahmadiyya riots, his shop, along with that of the late Master Asghar Ali Sahib, was burnt down. However, this tragic setback to his business did not cause his commitment to the Ahmadiyya Movement to waver. Sometime after, his son Dr. Muhammad Ahmad settled in the USA and called him over. Allah blessed Mr. Ahmad Sadiq with intelligent and obedient children. His son Dr. Muhammad Ahmad is President of the USA Jama at. He and his wife are very devoted to the cause of the Movement, and spend most of their time and energy in promoting the propagation work. Mr. Ahmad Sadiq s death is not only a great loss to his immediate family but the USA Jama at has also lost a sincere and devout member. May Allah bless the departed soul of our dear and revered brother and grant fortitude to the members of the bereaved family. 4

Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Elehi Rajiun. I knew the deceased quite well since he built his house next to ours in Darus Salam, Lahore. He would come from Abbottabad to supervise the construction work on the house he was having built. His presence would give us an opportunity to converse and pray together at the Central Mosque. I found him to be a very friendly and pious person. May Allah have mercy on his soul and grant him an abode in the highest place in Jannate-Firdouse; may the Lord God also grant patience, strength and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this personal loss. 6 We also pray that Almighty Allah grants members of the bereaved family strength, solace and sabr to bear this sad and irreparable loss at a time of great anguish. Allah hafiz, Shaukat Muhammad Yaseen Sahu Khan, Suva, Fiji Dear Dr. Mohammad Ahmad Sahib, As-Salamu-Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. I was plunged into an ocean of grief on hearing of the very sad news of the untimely demise of your dear Abbu. Surely we are Allah s and to Him we shall return (H.Q. 2:156). Death of a person is just a fulfillment of Allah s promise, as He says in (29:57): Every soul must taste of death; then to Us you will be returned. Allah the Almighty, the All Knowing, does what is best for His creatures, and He does it at the perfect time. It was time for dear Abbu to rest in peace and Allah Subhanahu wa Ta ala ordered his return, as we gather from 89:27 to 30: O soul that art at rest, Return to thy Lord, well pleased, well pleasing, so enter among My servants, and enter My Garden! For your dear deceased Abbu and all those that are believers and do good deeds, Allah has promised: And certainly the Hereafter is greater in degrees and greater in excellence. (17:21) And Allah has promised to those who believe and do good deeds: For them is forgiveness and a mighty reward. (5:9) My dear brother, I express heartfelt sympathies and condolences to you and the entire family and sincerely pray to Almighty Allah to grant you the strength and courage to bear the irreparable loss. May Allah bestow His favours and showers His Choicest Blessings upon you all and guide you on the path that leads to the Eternal Goal. Ameen, Thumma Ameen. 7 Jalal Ud Dean, Suva, Fiji Assalaamu'Alaikum Thank you for the sad update on the demise of the late Ahmad Sadiq: (2:156) Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilehi Rajeoon. Allah swt has made the life program for each of us; and when we reach the last sheet of our program blueprint, we humbly call that event as a demise and of course there is no escaping: (21:35) Every soul must taste of death. And We test you by evil and good by way of trial. And to Us you are returned. Whenever we have the death of a close relative, it hurts us very much, but Allah swt had already decreed us the lease of life; and most people sometimes fail to appreciate the goodness of Allah swt that He recalls His virtuous believers at His appropriate time and not at anybody else s appropriate time: (10:56) He gives life and causes death, and to Him you will be returned. It sounds a bit rough, but that is the bare truth and I felt the same way when my wife died so young. Whilst the Holy Qur an is full of warnings, alerting us of that event, most of us take those warnings rather lightly, as if there is a principle of life goes on forever. Allah swt is also the Maintainer and the Bookkeeper of our life s ledger: (3:185) Every soul will taste of death. And you will be paid your reward fully only on the Resurrection day. Then whoever is removed far from the Fire and is made to enter the Garden, he indeed attains the object. And the life of this world is nothing but a provision of vanities. In Fiji we will perform Janaza Ghaibana for the Marhoom tomorrow at Jumu ah, when we have larger gatherings at the Masjid. Wassalaam. Shabir Buksh, Secretary, AAIIL, NZ Assaalam wa alaikum WRWB. 8 Shahid Aziz, Secretary, AAIIL, United Kingdom Dear Akbar Assalamu alaikum. I learnt of the passing away of Mr Ahmad Sadiq from the HOPE. I did not realise that he was in the US and at first did not connect. Dr Ahmad and the rest of the family must be feeling very sad and hurt. May Allah grant them solace and heal their wounds for He is the true Healer. Nothing remains forever except his name and good deeds. For those who leave behind progeny engaged in Allah s work is a source of continuing reward, elevating them ever higher in the hereafter. I do not have Dr Ahmad s and request you to pass on my most sincere condolences to him. May Allah have mercy on us all. Sincere prayers Shahid Captain Abdus Salam Khan, Cucamonga, California, USA Dear Akbar Sahib ASA. The sad news of the passing away of Brother Ahmad Sadiq came as a shock. May Allah rest his soul in the highest reaches of heaven. Amen. The passing away of our respected brother Ahmad Sadiq is an irreparable loss for his family and also for the Lahore Ahmadiyya community. He hailed from a village close to Daibgran, the village to which our respected Amir, Dr. Saeed Ahmad Sahib of blessed memory, belonged, though his mother was from Daibgran. After serving in the office of our Central Anjuman, he opened a medical store in Abbottabad. This store and also the medical store belonging to Master Asghar Ali Sahib of blessed memory were gutted by the anit-ahmadi rioters during the 1974 riots. His house was situated just opposite Dr. Saeed Ahamd s house in Abbottabad, and during the siege and assault by the rioters he and his family had taken shelter in Dr. Saeed Ahmad s house. Several hundred armed rioters from Kohistan had descended on Abbottabad in order to annihilate the Ahmadiyya community and the civil administration stood by as a spectator as they rioted, pillaged, killed and looted the Ahmadis and their properties. The sole defender of all those who had taken shelter in Dr. Saeed Ahmad s house was his son-in-law, Col. Feroze Alam, who, with the help of Dr. Saeed Ahmad s rifle, kept them at bay, fighting them to a standstill singlehanded. Finally, when he was shot in the leg, the tribesmen started to break down the door of the house. 8

9 Luckily, a subedar of the Frontier Constabulary who was armed with an automatic weapon, and was on duty nearby, responded to the wailing of the womenfolk in the house, decided to take action and opened fire with his automatic weapon. This sudden attack took the rioters by surprise and they withdrew. The entire besieged group comprising his family and Dr. Saeed s family were evacuated to the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul and then made their way to Lahore. Later, Brother Ahmad Sadiq immigrated to America, where his two sons, Dr. Muhammad Ahmad and Dr. Naeem Ahmad, are medical doctors. Dr. Naeem Ahmad is married to Amina, daughter of our last Amir, Dr. Asghar Hamid Sahib of blessed memory. His third son, Munir Ahmad, who is also settled in America, is married to Naseerah, daughter of my cousin, Chaudhary Mansur Ahmad Sahib. By remaining loyal to the cause of Ahmadiyyat during those troubled times he set a shining example of loyalty and steadfastness for all of us. May Allah reward him for his sacrifices in the cause of Ahmadiyyat. Capt. 10 Arjumand Sadiq, United Kingdom Dear Br. Akbar Abdullah It is very sad to learn about the demise of our loving brother, Ahmed Sadiq Paji. I knew him since my childhood. He was a great human being. The last few years he had a lot of tragedies in his life. First he lost his young son and then a very loving sister. We all are praying for him. May All Mighty Allah bless his soul. It is not only a great loss for his family, but for the Jamaat too. He was a very devoted member of our Jamaat. We all share this loss with our respected Hazrat Ameer too. I was grieved to learn from Brother Amir Aziz, General Secretary of AAIIL, about the sad and sorrowful demise of your beloved father. In Pakistan, our Laboratories medical representative used to regularly visit the medical store of your late father and also maintain contact with Janji at Dada Sanatorium, amongst other medical facilities in the region. I had the occasion of visiting your family store en route to visit a friend in Manshera but did not meet your father as he was away on that day. The first time I met your Dad was when I was in Houston in 2004 to meet your brother Dr. Naeem Ahmad. I found your Dad to be soft spoken, humble and very hospitable, the same qualities that I see in you and Dr. Naeem Ahmad. May Allah (swt) have mercy on Marhoom and rest his soul in peace in the Heaven of eternity (Janaate- Firdouse) and also grant you sabr, strength and fortitude to bear the burden of such irreparable personal loss.
