2 Terrorism Against Children Hadas Fogel, three months old, was killed by terrorists on March 11, The terrorists confessed that they left the Fogel home after murdering Hadas parents and two sleeping brothers but returned to murder Hadas when they heard her start crying. On May 15, 1974, three Palestinian terrorists armed with grenades and assault rifles infiltrated a school in Ma alot. They took 102 high school students hostage. Twenty-two students were murdered and 50 wounded. Thousands of grief-stricken, traumatized Israelis attended the funerals. But the students killed in the Ma alot massacre are not the only young Israeli victims of Palestinian terrorism. Terrorists have targeted and indiscriminately murdered young Jews from the 1920s up through today. When Fatah terrorists shot and killed George Khoury, a Christian Arab, on March 19, 2004, they published an apology, explaining they had mistaken Khoury for an Israeli Jew. Palestinian leaders have not issued apologies for the murder of Jewish children, nor for causing the deaths of Palestinian children. The following are just some of the child victims of Palestinian terrorism.

3 Young Jewish Victims of Palestinian Violence: Palestinian terrorists target young Israelis and target places where young Israelis gather, from discotheques to restaurants to public buses. May 1921: Organized riots against Jews and Jewish neighborhoods: 47 Jews killed, 216 wounded. August 23-24,1929: Hebron massacre: Arab rioters massacred and wiped out the ancient Jewish community of Hebron. They killed 67 Jews, including 22 yeshiva students and three children under the age of five. Menachem Segal, age two, was found with his head torn off. A British policeman reported shooting one Arab rioter who was cutting off a Jewish child s head with a sword. August 29, 1929: Safed massacre: Arab mobs burst into Jewish orphanages, smashing the children s heads and cutting off their hands. October 2, 1938: Palestinian Arabs attacked Jews in Tiberius, massacring 21 Jews, including 10 children between the ages of less than one and 12.. They stabbed the Ariyeh parents and son, then shot their infant. The Leimer children, ages eight, 10, and 12, were stabbed and then burned to death. Carnage after Hebron Massacre June 7, 1953: A terrorist shooting attack in southern Jerusalem killed one child. October 13, 1953: A grenade was thrown into a home at Tirat Yehuda, killing a mother and her two children. April 11, 1956: Palestinian terrorists burst into a religious school in a village outside Tel Aviv, filled with almost 50 young boys. The killers opened fire. Three children died instantly, and three were seriously wounded. Other boys jumped out the windows. May 8, 1970: Avivim school bus massacre: Terrorists (PFLP) scouted the route of an Avivim school bus and ambushed it with bazookas. The children were in first to third grade. Nine of them were killed; 25 wounded. Some were crippled for life. April 11, 1974: Palestinian terrorists entered an apartment building in Kiryat Shmona, killing all 18 residents, including nine children. May 15-16, 1974: Palestinian terrorists entered an apartment building in Ma alot, where they killed a couple and their four-year-old child. They then entered a school building where a large group of 11th graders was spending the night after a school outing. They held the students hostage. When their ransom demands were not met, they murdered 21 students. The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) took credit. In Beirut, DFLP leaders honored the attackers as noble martyrs at the funeral. March 11, 1978: Coastal Road massacre 12 children killed (one shot in the head).

4 April 6, 1994: A bus was attacked by a bomb-laden car. Three young people, ages 13, 16, and 17, were killed. March 4, 1996: Suicide-bomb attack at Dizengoff Center: in Tel Aviv. Thirteen civilians were killed, including two 13-year-olds and two 15-year-olds. May 14, 1996: Terrorists fired at students at a hitchhiking post near Beit El, killing one 17-year-old student. September 4, 1997: Three consecutive suicide bombings at Jerusalem s Ben Yehuda pedestrian mall: Five people were killed, including three 14-year-olds. Intifada September 2000 and May 2002: 57.7 percent of fatalities were children under the age of 15. March 26, 2001: Shalhevet Pass: a 10-month-old baby in her stroller was targeted by sniper Mahmoud Mahmed Mahmoud Amrou (Tanzim Militia), whom Mahmoud Abbas praised as a martyr in May 8, 2001: Koby Mandell, 13, and Yosef Ishran, 14, were bound, stabbed, and beaten to death with rocks. Their faces, beaten to pulps, were unrecognizable when their bodies were found in a cave. Shalhevet Pass January 7, 2001: Shafir Rahum, 16, was lured to the West Bank by an Internet date. The woman drove him to a designated location, where three Palestinian gunmen shot him 15 times. June 1, 2001: Hamas suicide bombing at the Dolphinarium, a popular Tel Aviv dance club: Twenty-one young people were killed. Thirteen of them were between the ages of 14 and 17. June 11, 2001: Five-month-old Yehuda Shoham was killed when terrorists threw a rock at the family car. August 9, 2001: Suicide bombing at Jerusalem s popular Sbarro Pizza: Fifteen Israelis were killed, including four young teenagers, an eight-year-old, a four-year-old, a two-year-old, and an unborn baby. July 26, 2001: Ronen Landau, 17, of Givat Ze ev, was shot and killed when he was returning to his home one night. November 4, 2001: A 16-year-old and a 14-year-old were killed when a Palestinian terrorist opened fire with a submachine gun at a bus station in Jerusalem. Two of the children killed in the Coastal Road massacre: Yitzchak Ankwa, 10, and Liat Gal-On, six Baby carriages left behind after bombing January 17, 2002: Attack with an M-16 assault rifle at a Bat Mitzvah banquet in Hadera: Seven Israeli civilians were killed, 30 injured, several seriously. February 6, 2002: Eleven-year-old Yael Ohana and her mother were murdered in their home when an armed terrorist, dressed in an IDF uniform, infiltrated their community. Fatah and Hamas claimed responsibility.

5 February 16, 2002: Two 15-year-olds and one 16-year-old girl were killed in a suicide bombing at a popular pizzeria. March 2, 2002: A suicide bomber detonated among a group of women and their children gathered outside a Bar Mitzvah in Jerusalem. Eleven Israelis were killed, including seven children and toddlers. Fatah s al-aqsa Martyrs Brigades took credit. March 9, 2002: Eleven young adults were killed and 50 injured when a suicide bomber exploded himself in the crowded Moment Café in Jerusalem. March 9, 2002: A nine-month-old baby, Avia Malka, and a woman were killed, and 50 people were injured when two Palestinians opened fire and threw grenades at cars and pedestrians in the coastal city of Netanya on Saturday evening, close to the city s boardwalk and hotels. Fatah s al-aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility. March 27, 2002: Thirty people were killed and 140 injured when a suicide bomber exploded during a Passover dinner at the Park Hotel in Netanya. March 29, 2002: A suicide bomber detonated herself at a Jerusalem market, killing 17-year-old Rachel Levy and an Israeli security guard. Fatah s al-aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility. March 31, 2002: Sixteen people were killed, including five teenagers, when a suicide bomber exploded himself at Haifa s Matza Restaurant. Hamas claimed responsibility. April 27, 2002: A terrorist attack in Adura (east of Ashkelon): Saturday, 9 AM, Katya Greenberg and five-year-old Daniel Shefi were murdered, seven others wounded. Two were killed fighting the two terrorists who were dressed as Israeli soldiers: Arik Beker and Yaakov Katz. May Hashem Avenge Their Blood. May 27, 2002: Suicide bombing at an ice cream parlor outside a shopping mall crowded with families: A 14-month-old baby and her grandmother were killed. May 28, 2002: Terrorists fired semi-automatic assault rifles at high school students on a basketball court in Itamar, killing two 17-year-olds and one 14-year-old. June 18, 2002: A suicide bomber detonated himself on a bus filled with students. Nineteen people were killed, and 74 were injured. Hamas claimed responsibility. June 20, 2002: A terrorist entered the Shabo home in Itamar and shot and killed a mother and her three sons, ages 16, 12, and five, and seriously wounded her 13-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter. The PFLP and Fatah s al-aqsa Martyrs Brigades took credit. July 31, 2002: A terrorist exploded himself in the center of a crowded cafeteria on the Hebrew University campus. Nine people were killed and 85 were injured. Hamas claimed responsibility. November 10, 2002: Ohayon murders in Kibbutz Metzer: Four-year-old and five-year-old Matan and Noam and their mother were shot in cold blood by terrorists who entered their home. Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades took credit for the child murders. Matan and Noam Ohayon, four and five years old

6 November 21, 2002: A suicide bomber on a Jerusalem Egged bus transporting many school children: Eleven people were killed, including four children between the ages of eight and 16. March 5, 2003: A Haifa bus blown up by suicide bomber who timed his attack just as the school day was ending: Nine of the 17 people killed were children between the ages of 12 and 17. Hamas claimed responsibility. September 9, 2003: Suicide bombing of the popular Hillel Café in Jerusalem: Seven people were killed and 50 were wounded. August 19, 2003: A suicide bomber on a Jerusalem bus killed 23 people. Eight of them were children between the ages of 16 and barely one, including 11-month-old Shmuel Targari and three-month-old infant Shmuel Taubenfeld. Forty of the over 100 injured were children, including a one-month-old infant. Hamas claimed responsibility. Three-month-old Shmuel Taubenfeld September 26, 2003: Seven-month-old Shaked Avraham and a family friend were shot in cold blood by a terrorist who entered their home in Negohot. Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility. October 4, 2003: A suicide bomber at Maxim s Restaurant in Haifa: Four children between the ages of one and 11 were among the 21 fatalities. Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility. Noya Zer-Aviv, age one May 2, 2004: Tali Hatuel, 34, was pregnant when she and her daughters Hila, 11, Hadar, nine, Roni, seven, and Merav, two, were killed by two Palestinian terrorists who shot them at point-blank range in their car in Gaza. Fatah and Islamic Jihad claimed joint responsibility for the attack. June 28, 2004: Four-year-old Afik Zahavi was killed when a Qassam rocket struck his nursery school in Sderot. September 29, 2004: Yuval Abebeh, four, and Dorit (Masarat) Benisian, two, both of Sderot, were playing outside their homes when they were killed by a Qassam rocket fired from Gaza. Hamas claimed responsibility. January 15, 2005: Ayala-Haya (Ella) Abukasis, 17, of Sderot was mortally wounded when a Qassam rocket landed near her and shrapnel penetrated her cerebellum, leaving her brain dead. She was struck while protecting her younger brother, who was lightly wounded. February 25, 2005: A suicide bomber detonated himself at Tel Aviv s popular Stage Club, killing five people and wounding 50. Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility. June 24, 2005: A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were killed in a terrorist drive-by shooting at a hitchhiking stop south of Hebron. Islamic Jihad and Fatah s al-aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack. July 12, 2005: Two 16-year-old girls were killed and about 90 people wounded when a suicide bomber detonated in a shopping mall in Netanyha. Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility.

7 September 3, 2007: Terrorists timed a barrage of rockets to hit when parents were taking their children to school and day care centers. Palestinian Islamic Jihad claimed the rockets were a gift for Israeli children on the opening day of the school year. February 6, 2008: Hamas fired a rocket into a playground in Kibbutz Beeri, wounding a two-year-old and a 12-year-old girl. February 9, 2008: Hamas fired a barrage of rockets into the town of Sderot. Eight-year-old Osher Twito was seriously wounded. One of his legs had to be amputated; doctors were able to save the second leg. February 7, 2008: A Hamas rocket struck the parking lot of Sapir College near Sderot. One person was killed. February 27, 2008: Hamas fired a barrage of 42 rockets into Israel. One struck Sapir College, killing a student. Osher Twito, eight years old March 3, 2008: Hamas fired a Grad rocket into an Ashkelon playground, narrowly missing a nursery school for toddlers under the age of three. March 6, 2008: A terrorist armed with a Kalashnikov assault rifle infiltrated the Mercaz Harav Yeshiva school library in Jerusalem and opened fire. Eight students, ranging in age from 15 to 17, were killed. March 28, 2008: A Qassam rocket hit a nursery school in a Kibbutz in the Negev. May 14, 2008: A Hamas rocket struck an Ashkelon building that housed a children s health clinic. May 14, 2008: A Qassam rocket struck a Sderot nursery school. April 2, 2009: Shlomo Nativ, 13, was killed by an axe-wielding terrorist in Gush Etzion. December 21, 2010: A Qassam rocket struck near a nursery school in Kibbutz Zikim, wounding a 14-year-old Israeli girl. March 11, 2011: Two knife-wielding terrorists slipped into the Fogel home while they were sleeping and massacred the parents, their 11-year-old and four-year-old sons, and their three-month old infant. April 7, 2011: Gaza terrorists fired an anti-tank missile at a clearly marked yellow school bus in southern Israel. The driver was injured, and a 16-year-old student was critically wounded and later died. The preceding list is not comprehensive. It is a random sample of Israeli children and teenagers killed by Palestinian terrorists. The Fogel children were murdered at point-blank range by terrorists.

8 In Addition to Murdering Israeli Children, Palestinian Leaders Victimize Palestinian Children and Youth. They encourage children to participate in violence and regularly store military arsenals among their civilian populations, risking the lives of their own children. Worse, they indoctrinate children and youth to murder Israelis and glorify Palestinian suicide bombers and terrorists as martyrs. They teach children that the Muslim loves death and martyrdom more than life, according to Palestinian Mufti Ikrimeh Sabri. Sheik Ikrimi Sabri, the Palestinian Authorityappointed mufti of Jerusalem: There is no doubt that a child [martyr] suggests that the new generation will carry on the mission with determination. The younger the martyr the greater and the more I respect him (October 2001). Rasha al-rantisi, wife of a Hamas leader: Allah is generous with us, because our children die as fighters, and we wait with them for death for Allah s sake any minute (Al Bayan, June 16, 2003). What You Can Do To Help Hussam Abdo, a 16-year-old with mental disabilities, was armed with a suicide belt when the IDF stopped him at the Huwara checkpoint on March 24, Hussam reported that he had been recruited by Fatah s al-aqsa Martyrs Brigades, which paid him 100 NIS (shekels) and promised him that he would have 72 virgins after he completed the bombing. Contact your representatives. Popular opinion plays an integral part in the democratic process. Encourage all elected officials to actively oppose the dangerous, hateful propaganda being promoted in Palestinian communities. Go to to find your local elected officials.
