1 Sunday 05 November 2017 The Gospel Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, Who do people say that the Son of Man is? And they said, Some say John the Baptist, but others Elijah, and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets. He said to them, But who do you say that I am? Simon Peter answered, You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered him, Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Then he sternly ordered the disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah. Mt 16:13-20 Prayer of the week Heavenly Father, On this day where we consecrate and renew the Church, we pray that we may also consecrate and renew our lives, so that we may become the Church in the world today. Help us to fulfill our duty to be active members of the body of Christ and living sacraments of your presence in the world. Amen! Anonymous The Epistle Brothers and sisters, Now even the first covenant had regulations for worship and an earthly sanctuary. For a tent was constructed, the first one, in which were the lampstand, the table, and the bread of the Presence; this is called the Holy Place. Behind the second curtain was a tent called the Holy of Holies. In it stood the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which there were a golden urn holding the manna, and Aaron s rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant; above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot speak now in detail. Such preparations having been made, the priests go continually into the first tent to carry out their ritual duties; but only the high priest goes into the second, and he but once a year, and not without taking the blood that he offers for himself and for the sins committed unintentionally by the people. By this the Holy Spirit indicates that the way into the sanctuary has not yet been disclosed as long as the first tent is still standing. This is a symbol of the present time, during which gifts and sacrifices are offered that cannot perfect the conscience of the worshiper, but deal only with food and drink and various baptisms, regulations for the body imposed until the time comes to set things right. But when Christ came as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation), he entered once for all into the Holy Place, not with the blood of goats and calves, but with his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. 2 Light from the Word Consecration of the Church Welcome to the New Liturgical Year and we commence with the Week of Consecration of the Church. The Gospel passage places great responsibility on the Church as the messenger of Christ. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven (v19). If we think carefully about this statement we would come to the awareness that all we do matters, all our actions produce results, and all decisions have consequences. God is not far from us but rather closely connected to all we say and do. What we create on earth determines the shape of the Kingdom to come. Remember that Jesus clearly said the Kingdom of God is among you, it is here and now, and yet it is also coming. We are responsible for God s Kingdom present in our midst. What we do on earth either reveals God s presence or not. Pope Francis wrote about responsibility for the environment what we do, the carbon footprints we leave behind, has consequences for future generations. Yet there is much more at stake here. It is not just the environment we are responsible for but for every aspect of life on earth. All we do reveals to others the possibility or lack thereof, of God s Kingdom among us. So as a Church community, a people chosen by God, do we create a space on earth where God s Kingdom of love is visible to others, or are our choices making life hell for others? Amen Sr Margaret Ghosn MSHF The Catechism What is the plan of God regarding man and woman? God who is love and who created man and woman for love has called them to love. By creating man and woman he called them to an intimate communion of life and of love in marriage: "So that they are no longer two, but one flesh" (Matthew 19:6). God said to them in blessing "Be fruitful and multiply" (Genesis 1:28). For what ends has God instituted Matrimony? The marital union of man and woman, which is founded and endowed with its own proper laws by the Creator, is by its very nature ordered to the communion and good of the couple and to the generation and education of children. According to the original divine plan this conjugal union is indissoluble, as Jesus Christ affirmed: "What God has joined together, let no man put asunder" (Mark 10:9). The Servant s Word Happy New Spiritual Year Brothers and Sisters in Christ, A liturgical year is over and a new one has just begun! Welcome to the new liturgical year in our Maronite Church. Today we start a new journey in our spiritual life. In the same way that we grow in years, it is hoped that with each new liturgical year, we can say that we have grown spiritually from one year to another. Our aim is to become more spiritually mature and thus more holy. It is through our individual and communal reflection on the scriptures and the life of our Lord and in the participation of the liturgy that we can grow in the knowledge of the truth of our faith. We not only grow in knowledge, but we also grow in love. The Maronite liturgical year allows us to do so through its well-structured organisation of the liturgy. The liturgical year is divided into seasons, these being: The Glorious Birth of our Lord, the Glorious Epiphany, Great Lent, Passion Week, the Glorious Resurrection, Glorious Pentecost and finally the season of the Glorious Cross. It is an upward spiral-like movement towards the mystery and revelation of the Holy Trinity. In today s Gospel reading, our Lord consecrates Simon Peter as the head of His Church. Peter is the rock! Through our baptism, we become the children of God who is our Father, and we also become the children of the Church who is our Mother. Like Peter, we become consecrated stones which build up the body of the Church, the body of Christ. This Sunday reminds us how important we are as consecrated members of the Church. Each one of us is valuable in the eyes of God and each one of us is worthy of honour and praise. This is not because of anything that we have achieved (even though our own achievements are worthy of praise), but by the fact that we are a consecrated by the blood of Jesus which He shed on the Cross for us. We are invited this week and every week to renew our consecration. We are asked to renew our commitment and our obedience to God and to the Church. So, what is your plan for the New Spiritual Year? What resolution will you make this year so that you can increase in spiritual maturity and grown in knowledge and love? I encourage you all to think about this and like you make a new resolution on 1 January, do the same today. However, this time give it a prayerful and spiritual dimension and I m sure that by this time next year, you will be able to see the positive changes that this will have on your life. 3 Article of the Week There can be no greater sorrow in life than to lose a loved one, and to lose one s child is the most unbearable sorrow of all. Our Blessed Mother Mary stood at the foot of the Cross and watched in unspeakable agony as her beloved Son suffered and died before her very eyes and she could do nothing to console Him. The pain that Jesus endured in His bitter Passion can be compared only to the pain Mary endured in watching the flesh of her flesh extinguish. But, that was only the beginning of Mary s own passion and death her greater cross would be to live without the love of her life, the very breath of her breath, and the core and purpose of her existence. To live without Jesus, without his physical presence, was death to her. Spiritually they could never be separated, but she was now the mother of a crucified criminal in the eyes of her patriots. Alone, without a husband and without her son, she would await in silence for the day of their eternal reunion. This had to be her greatest cross of all living for the lack of death, without Him. As a mother, this is one of the most difficult articles I ve written. Many years ago, I worked as a florist in Rookwood Cemetery, sharing my faith and consoling mourners. Death was all around me, but my attention was drawn to mothers grieving the loss of a child, even decades after they had passed. The pain of loss never diminished over time. I didn t have to say I can t imagine what you re going through because I didn t need to imagine - having personally experienced the loss of several children in miscarriages and still-births, I knew quite well this pain of loss. Truly, nobody could ever imagine the cross that Our Lady had to bear, watching Jesus humiliated, scourged almost to death, and crucified mercilessly. His pain was equalled by her own pain, as in her heart she prayed and begged that she could be the one hanging on that cross, in place of her Son. The agony of remembering His Passion, the agony of living without Him, the agony of the public persecution that followed her and the apostles - these were the daily splinters she bore even after the wood of the Cross had disappeared. this was her biggest cross unto death. Mary, Queen of Martyrs, pray for us. What was Mary s biggest cross after the death of Jesus? Salwa Elias Come Alive Our last Come Alive topic was You Just Don t Get Me!: The Four Temperaments. Our Teens had the opportunity to learn about themselves and others around them, based on personality traits of each, and the study of four categories. They are Sanguines and Cholerics (natural extraverts) and Melancholics and Phlegmatics (natural introverts). Some discovered that they were naturally good leaders, cheerful givers, thoughtful, goal-orientated, or stubborn, disorganised, distracted, impatient etc. A night full of laughter and skits, turned quickly into a tough challenge, as the reflection of the Parable of the Talents (Matt 25) was being read. Teens realised that their challenge was to exit the doors, holding their God-given gifts, symbolised by the different flowers they each held and placed at the foot of the cross, and take charge of giving back to the world by using these gifts to glorify His name, and to spread the goodness of His Word. The challenge was just this: instead of being the man who was afraid and hid his talent in the ground (v. 25), to become reliant on the gifts of the Holy Spirit such as courage and wisdom, to know well, love well, and serve selflessly in this life given to us to live. Charity and love are the same with charity you give love, so don t just give money but reach out your hand instead Mother Teresa Charitable works are an excellent example of living out our faith and giving back to those who are not as fortunate as us. In the past few months, members of the youth have been helping Heaven on Earth with feeding the homeless at Blacktown on Monday evenings. Monthly blood donations continue at Rosehill Blood bank with the next group booking this Monday 6th November. Nursing home visits to the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family in Marrickville/Dulwich Hill will return, as we are planning a Christmas visit in early December and monthly visits to recommence in Cancer is one of the leading causes of disease in Australia with one in three men and one in four women will be diagnosed with cancer before 75. Last Friday, the MYO hosted a Girl s Night in to support and raise awareness for the amazing work of the Cancer Council. We are also hosting a Boys Sahra Night to support the Adam Gardiner Foundation that raises awareness for amyloidosis. Amyloidosis is a condition that causes a build up of abnormal protein in the body. It has no known cure with disabling and often fatal outcomes for sufferers. No matter how big or small, there are countless ways to get involved with charity initiatives within our church community! Joanna Michael

6 كلمة الرحمة اختتمت عائلة الكلمة اإللهية في رعية سيدة لبنان سلسلة تأمالتها بمريم العذ ارء في شهر الوردية بلقاء مساء الثالثاء الماضي مع الكاهن المساعد في رعيتي مار مارون ردفرن ويسوع الفادي في الهيلز الخوري يوسف أبو زيد. عنوان التأمل "أسماء مريم وألقابها ورموزها في العهد القديم". النصوص الكتابية التي تتحدث عن العذ ارء قليلة ألن محور اإلنجيل هو الرب يسوع. مع ذلك هناك إشا ارت كثيرة إليها في العهد القديم من دون ذكر اسمها مباشرة وقد استندت إليها مجامع العقائد المريمية: أم اهلل الدائمة البتولية الحبل بال دنس وانتقالها بالنفس والجسد إلى السماء. من تلك اإلشا ارت حو اء الجديدة التي أقام اهلل عداوة بين نسلها ونسل الحي ة بعدما أسقطت األخيرة اإلنسان في الخطيئة )تكوين ٠١(. ٣: العذ ارء هي حو اء الجديدة نسبة إلى يسوع آدم الجديد الذي اشترى بدمه آدم األول وأعاده إلى مجد الفردوس. ولعل اإلشارة األكثر وضوحا إليها تلك التي جاءت قبل نحو ٠١١ سنة من والدة يسوع: "ها هي العذ ارء تحبل وتلد ابنا وتدعو اسمه عم انوئيل" )أشعيا ٠١(. ٠: هي أيضا الحبيبة والسوسنة بين الشوك )نشيد ٦ و ٢ ( وأم الملك التي تجلس عن يمين ابنها )٠ ملوك ٠١( ٨: والملكة بنت الملوك القائمة عن يمين الملك )مزمور ٠١(. ١١: ملوكية العذارء من ملوكية ابنها ملك الملوك الذي سجد له ملوك المجوس وأهدوه ذهبا وك لل أرسه بالشوك وو ضع ثوب األرجوان الملوكي عليه وع ل قت عبارة "ملك اليهود" فوق أرسه على الصليب. من ألقاب العذ ارء أيضا "سل م يعقوب" الذي هبطت عليه السماء إلى األرض وصعدت عليه األرض إلى السماء في اشارة إلى حلول الالهوت في الناسوت عبر أمومتها ليسوع. ي رمز إليها أيضا ب "تابوت العهد" الذي يحتوي على قسط المن وعصا هارون ولوحي الوصايا. تابوت العهد مصن وع من الخشب الذي ال ي سو س وهو يرمز لطهارة مريم ومغشى بالذهب مثل مريم المتسربلة من الالهوت في الداخل والخارج. والمن هو يسوع الذي ح ملته إلى العالم وصار قربانا يقي من يأكله شر الموت. وعصا هارون التي كانت يابسة وأزهرت هي رمز للعذ ارء التي أثمرت يسوع على رغم بتوليتها فأعطتنا ثمرة الحياة لنشارك اهلل من خاللها مجد ملكوته. وتكر سبحة ألقاب مريم ورموزها في العهد القديم منها "ف لك نوح" الذي أنقذ جنسنا البشري من الهالك "الحمامة" التي حملت إلى نوح بشرى الخالص "جزة جدعون" التي لم تتأثر بعوامل محيطها "مجمرة الذهب" لحلول كامل الالهوت فيها "مدينة اهلل" ألن العلي هو الذي كو نها "السماء الثانية" التي صارت مسكنا هلل و"ابنة صهيون" التي حملت في أحشائها الكلمة. أم ا بعد أي لقب أعطي مريم من خالل عالقتي معها واألهم أي لقب تعطيني إياه مريم وأستحقه فعال ونحن ماذا نقول للوهلة األولى نتوق ف عند سؤال يسوع لتالميذه مفترضين السبب إنطالق ا من تفكيرنا البشري فنقول:" أليس واثق ا من نفسه أهو بحاجة لشهادة االخرين كي يطمئن ". نفك ر فيه تمام ا كما نفعل بغالبي تنا عندما نريد أن نق ي م موقعنا في المجتمع وما يفك ر به اآلخرين تجاهنا. جواب "الناس" لم يتخط الملموس رغم كل ما اجترحه من آيات رغم كل التعليم ال ذي بش ر به وسطهم معلن ا "اقت ارب ملكوت اهلل" ورسالته الخالصي ة لإلنسان فقارنوه بشخصيات العهد القديم متوق فين عند إجابة كالبرق لمعت في أفق الرسل اإلثنا عشر: أو ل إعالن سماوي ينطق به سمعان بن يونا يكشف فيه هوي ة يسوع. شهادته دل ت على شخصيته هذا الرسول ال ذي بنعمة من اهلل إستطاع أن يتخط ى "اللحم والد م" بتفكيره. هذا الرسول المتحم س نال "الطوبى" من فم يسوع منذ تلك الساعة ولكم كان فرحه عظيم ا حين عب ر عن سر "اهلل الحي " ال ذي جذبه بشخص ابنه يسوع. إن ه يتكل م ويحيا مع ال ذي يتجر أ ويدعوه أب ا. لكن ماذا عن ا نحن هل لنا ج أرته وايمانه لنعلن ما نعرفه عن يسوع لنتذك ر أن ه منذ اعتمدنا أصبحنا حجارة حي ة في جسد المسيح السر ي أي الكنيسة واليوم الحاجة كبيرة كي نتعر ف إلى أرس هذا الجسد كي نقيم عالقة عميقة معه ليصبح لنا فكره ألن كل واحد من ا مدعو ليصبح الصخرة. فلن قب ل إليه إذ ا بإيمان وثقة ولنفسح له في المجال كي يعطينا طوبى جديدة واسم ا جديد ا يحمل رسالة حب متجد دة في عالم مظلم ال يرى من الشمس إال كسوفها مرد دين أمام صاحب الدعوة: " أنت هو ابن اهلل الحي ". IN OUR PRAYERS من هي مريم بالنسبة إلي مار ميخائيل رئيس المالئكة عائلة الكلمة اإللهية ان ميخائيل رئيس الجنود السماوية هو الذي قاتل مع مالئكته االب ارر الشيطان المتكبر ومالئكته االش ارر واخرجه من السماء وقال له: "م ن مثل اهلل" فكان هذا تفسير اسمه "ميكائيل": م ن كاهلل كما جاء في سفر الرؤيا. وقد اتخذته الكنيسة المقدسة شفيعا ومحاميا لها والبنائها. وتعي د له تذكا ار لالعجوبة التي صنعها في مدينة كولوسي المشهورة برسالة القديس بولس. عندما جاء رجل وثني مع ابنته الخرساء منذ والدتها ف أرى جمع من المسيحيين يغتسلون بحوض الماء قرب كنيسة القديس ميخائيل فعمل مثلهم وسقى ابنته من الماء فشفيت حاال... فآمن الرجل وبعض معارفه فغضب الوثنيين واتوا ليهدموا الكنيسة وبدأوا بالحفر حولها فأخذ حارس الكنيسة وهو من بعلبك يدعى ارخيبوس يتضرع الى اهلل ويستغيث بالقديس ميخائيل. فظهر المالك ميخائيل ليال للوثنيين وهم يحفرون ليحولوا الماء عليها فحو ل الماء عنها إذ شق صخرة بعصاه فغارت المياه فيها ولم تصب الكنيسة بأذى فآمن عدد كبير من الوثنيين. وكان هذا حوالي القرن الثاني للميالد. 7 تأمل في اإلنجيل السنة الليتورجية: من والى المسيح إخوتي وأخواتي األحباء بالمسيح تدور أحداث هذا االنجيل في وقت مهم من حياة يسوع األرضية ومن حياة التلمذة التي يعيشها الرسل مع يسوع. هو من األحداث المهم ة في حياة الكنيسة ألنها المرة األولى التي ت علن فيها الكنيسة بفم بطرس ألوهية يسوع متخطي ة كل ما ي قال وينسب إليه على لسان البشر ال ذين لم يعرفوه ويعيشوا معه. الروح يعطي الكنيسة أن ت مي ز تمييز ا واضح ا من هو المعلم أو النبي إن ه "المسيح إبن اهلل الحي". ولهذا اإلعالن وقعه أيض ا في الوقت ال ذي ك تب فيه اإلنجيل أي بعد القيامة. فإعالن يسوع بالمقابل لبطرس: "أنت الصخرة وعلى هذه الصخرة سأبني بيعتي" هو تأسيس للكنيسة التي تخص يسوع شخصي ا وتربطها به عالقة مباشرة غير تلك التي كانت تربط الشعب القديم باهلل كما كانوا ينظرون إليه. فالوضع هنا تغي ر فأصبحنا نرى اإلله ونتكلم معه ونشاركه حياته. وهذه هي قداسة البيعة التي تقوم على إعالن واضح وصريح أن "المسيح" هو "إبن اهلل الحي" م م ي زينه في هذا العالم المليء باألفكار التي تريد أن تأسر تفكيرنا. قداسة البيعة هي أن تنفتح للروح ال ذي يعطيها القدرة على تمييز م ن ي عطيها الحياة ألنه وحده الحي. ورسالتها أن تعطي الحياة للعالم عبر إعطائه "الحي" واعالنه على الدوام. وأن يكون هذا اإلعالن ثابت ا واضح ا ال مجال للشك فيه متحملة كل إضطهاد وألم مؤمنة أن التعزية الوحيدة هي من إرتباطها بالحي ال ذي وحده ي عطيها الحياة. كلمة الخادم الليتورجية هي أصدق تعبير عن إيمان الجماعة التي تحتفل بها وأقسام الليتورجية المارونية هي م ارحل تذكر بحياة السيد المسيح. الفكرة األولى التي تتبادر إلى ذهن الناس هي كيف أننا نحن المؤمنين نكرر كل سنة األعياد عينها وتدور وكأننا بتطواف حول سلسلة أعياد وأوقات حتى تقع ربما "بالروتين ( الملل( " والتك ارر الممل. من المسيح الفادي والقائم والحي تأخذ السنة الطقسية معناها واليه تهدف. وما نسميه نحن تك ارر األعياد والمناسبات في كل سنة ليس في الواقع التك ارر بالمعنى السلبي بل هو حركة تصاعدية لولبية تدخل فيها الكنيسة من خالل احتفاالتها ومناسباتها التي نعيشها بغية الدخول أكثر فأكثر في سر المسيح الخالصي وبهدف التقدم والنمو بمشروع الملكوت الذي حققه بموته وقيامته. وما حياة الكنيسة على األرض سوى ولوج تدريجي في هذا الملكوت الذي تحقق منذ ألفي سنة ويكتمل في نهاية األزمنة. من هنا المسألة ليست تك ارر إنما هي تصاعد وارتقاء للبلوغ إلى ملء قامة المسيح من خالل اقتفاء خطاه واتباعه في كل م ارحل حياته. من خالل السنة الطقسية تجسد الجماعة المسيحية كل م ارحل حياة يسوع المسيح التي بها دبر كل شيء لخالص اإلنسان. فيها ترتيب تذكار المسيح على االزمنة السبعة وهذا ما نسم يه الدورة السيدي ة وفيها دورة القديسين اي أعياد القديسين على مدار السنة. و كلمة الطقس تأتي من اليونانية بمعنى نظام وترتيب. فتكون السنة الطقسية هي السنة المنظ مة والمرت بة على حياة المسيح واعياد القديسين. وت دعى ايضا السنة الليتورجية وهي على الش كل الت الي: زمن الميالد زمن الدنح ( والغطاس( زمن الصوم أسبوع اآلالم زمن القيامة زمن العنصرة زمن ارتفاع الصليب. أتمنى لكم سنة روحية جديدة سعيدة لقد انتهت سنة ليتورجية وبدأت سنة أخرى! أهال بكم إلى السنة الليتورجية الجديدة في كنيستنا المارونية. اليوم نبدأ مسيرة جديدة في حياتنا الروحية. فكما ننمو عبر السنين نأمل أن نتمك ن من نم ونا روحيا من سنة إلى أخرى. هدفنا أن نصبح أكثر القول مع كل سنة ليتورجية جديدة بأننا نضجا روحيا لنتقد م أكثر في القداسة. من خالل تأملنا الفردي والجماعي بالكتاب المقدس وحياة ربنا يسوع وبمشاركتنا في القداس يمكننا النمو في معرفة حقيقة إيماننا. ال ننمو بالمعرفة فحسب بل بالحب أيضا. تسمح لنا السنة الليتورجية المارونية بأن نحقق ذلك عن طريق تنظيمها الجيد لليتورجيا. ت قسم السنة الليتورجية إلى فصول وهي: الميالد المجيد لربنا الدنح المجيد الصوم الكبير أسبوع اآلالم القيامة المجيدة العنصرة الصليب الممج د. إنها حركة تصاعدية لولبية نحو سر الثالوث األقدس وتجليه لنا. المجيدة وأخي ار زمن في إنجيل اليوم يكر س ربنا سمعان بطرس أرسا للكنيسة. بطرس هو الصخرة! عبر معموديتنا نصبح أوالدا هلل الذي هو أبونا ونصبح أيضا أوالد الكنيسة التي هي أمنا. مثل بطرس نصبح حجارة مكرسة تبني الكنيسة المقدسة جسد المسيح. يذك رنا هذا األحد بمدى أهميتنا كأعضاء مكرسين في الكنيسة. كل شخص منا غال في عيني اهلل وكل شخص منا يستحق التكريم والتقدير. ليس ألي شيء حققناه )على رغم أن إنجا ازتنا تستحق التقدير( لكن لحقيقة أننا مكرسون بدم يسوع الذي س فك من أجلنا على الصليب. نحن مدعوون هذا األسبوع وكل أسبوع إلى تجديد تكر سنا. المطلوب منا تجديد الت ازمنا وطاعتنا هلل والكنيسة. إذن ما هي خطتكم للسنة الروحية الجديدة ما هو القصد الذي تنوون أخذه هذه السنة لكي تنموا في النضوج الروحي والمعرفة والحب أشجعكم جميعا على التفكير بهذا األمر وكما تأخذون قصدا جديدا في ٠ كانون الثاني إفعلوا الشيء ذاته اآلن. لكن أعطوا هذا األمر بعدا تقويا وروحيا وأنا متأكد أنه في مثل هذا الوقت من السنة المقبلة سوف تستطيعون أن تروا التغيي ارت اإليجابية التي سيتركها ذلك على حياتكم. الخوري طوني سركيس
