1 Tafseer of surah Baqarah 7 th February 2012 The best thing to start with is kalamullah! It is a Noor or guidance for the muttaqeen! And the kalamullah will be guidance for whom? The one who fears Allah! Every ayat in the Quran is for us! Ayat 154 we spoke of jihad feesabeelillah! And today we see a lot of misconceptions of jihad where people put a bomb and kill themselves saying it is jihad! And this is all wrong! Because jihad has certain rules! First one is where u need to be under one khalifa! And are we under one khalifa? No! So then how can we do jihaad! Jihad has to be for Allah's sake! And for us women what is our jihad? Acquiring knowledge is a type of jihad! Because the one who acquires the knowledge is like doing feesabeelillah! Another type of jihad is the hajj! And the hardest difficult jihad is the jihad an Nafs! Because some ayat and Hadeeth we can take it and act upon it but then some Hadeeth and commands which are not according to our desires then we find the rejection right!! And for each person the jihad is a different thing! Now plucking eyebrow is haram in Islam but then people will say to us when we tell them that it s easy for us to say that because we have nice eyebrows etc.so for some people it is hijab and for others it is giving Zakah, for some people it is reading the Quran or even attending the lectures- some people find it a burden so the thing that is difficult for us- it is a gate for us to jihad! Subahanallah! the jihad is where u do things which are not liked by your desire but u still do it for Allah az awajal! And this thing which is difficult for u- it is a gate for you to reach Allah! So think of what u struggle to do: Salah, Quran, Zakah, hijab or even MANNERS! Subahanallah! sometimes it is in our nature to not have good manners and criticize people and not smile at others etc.so when u struggle and over come all of this and try hard to have the Husnul Khuluq then this is the JIHAD! Subahanallah! And another big jihad is to fight the shaitan! And Allah Subahanawatha'la gave us a comfort in the Quran: that the plot of the shaitan is weak so don t worry about it fight it! When u seek refuge in Allah from the shaitan then the shaitan will leave! But the worst jihad is the jihad against yourself! The jihad un Nafs is harder right! Subahanallah! So these mujahidin they are the best category of the people! Why? Because they sacrificed their life! This is really the hardest to do and the best in reward!

2 Now imagine for us to do our prayer and ibaadah it is a struggle right! So imagine the jihad? Isn t that harder to struggle and do it for Allah's sake alone! Now the person who is doing the jihad feesabeelillah very easily in his heart he can have the intentions of Ujub or riyaah or arrogance etc.then if he dies all his jihad is lost right! Subahanallah Our commands from Allah if we do it with Ikhlas we will get VERY HIGH RANKS! So we have ibaadah which Allah Subahanawatha'la calls us to pray! Ibaadah which we don t do regularly and when we do them we will get rewarded for it but we need to have the intention! The correct intention! If we are a hafiz of the Quran and we really learn the Quran and act upon it and take every word we learn so seriously then our rank will be so high! Subahanallah! We make the mistakes because we don t understand or ponder Quran! Subahanallah! But imagine the one who memorizes Quran and applies in his life then he will rise very high in Jannah! But imagine the person who memorizes and his intention change midway and he gets distracted with trying to learn so he can get a position and everyone will respect him etc and his intention changes for riyaah his person will be of the first people to enter JAHANNUM! So ibaadah needs to be done purely for Allah Subahanawatha'la! Do not share the intention with another partner! So here in this ayat the best type of jihad feesabeelillah where u do for Allah s sake alone, every second where u fight it is like u are seeing Allah s face and these people what were the glad tidings they got? Before in the time of the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam the mujahidin, before they died in the battle [what did they see?]- They could smell Jannah and really have a feeling for it!!!! 154. So Allah Subahanawatha'la will make them to smell Jannah before they died! Subahanallah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It s like a sense for them! Subahanallah! This is for the mujaahid! و و وا ن ل ل أ و ات ل أ ء و ن! ر ون And say not of those who are killed in the Way of Allâh, "They are dead." Nay, they are living, but you perceive (it) not. The person who dies as a mujaahid don t say that they are dead! Because they are not! They are alive but their life is hidden and it is the Barzakh! And we cannot see it! Subahanallah! They said Subahanallah some of the doctors said during a rare situation: where somebody was dead and their heartbeats stops for a second and after a bit he starts breathing again and like he is alive! Subahanallah! And when they spoke to this person who got life again, the sick person said of what he

3 saw right, he saw himself lying and we can see our body down! And then I remembered all of what I did in my life! Allah Subahanawatha'la and the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam told us of this before all of this right! Subahanallah! Allah Subahanawatha'la told us that there is a hayaath and the soul will never die but it changes! The person who dies actually his body is dead but his soul is alive! Subahanallah! So here we spoke of the shuhadah right! Next let s look at the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam in one of the battles: In the battle of Badr! Most of the heads of the disbelievers were killed right! And after they were all killed the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam went to them and he called out to every one of those leaders with their names, and said: Did u see what Allah Subahanawatha'la promised u and what I told u? I saw what Allah Subahanawatha'la promised me = victory! Allah gave me that! you belied me and disbelieved in Allah and the people they believed me! The muslimeen there around him asked- did you talk to the people who are dead??and then the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said that they hear me! Because we have learnt that the person when he is put in the grave after he dies and when the people have buried and are leaving, he can hear the footsteps of the people leaving him! Subahanallah! Imagine! So in the grave everyone has a life! Everyone has a hayaath al Barzakh! But the life of the shuhadah is different- it will never die! And the pleasure of the shuhadah after death is with his soul and not body! Once the person dies, the soul will go to the body for a short time after he is buried for the questioning of the grave! Subahanallah! Imagine when we are in an elevator stuck inside for a while are we not scared? So imagine when we are in a small hole and it is closed and we are surrounded by sand! Subahanallah! It is scary right! Don t we see people walking on the earth and then in the next moment they are buried under the earth!????? Subahanallah! We don t know when we will go, it is closer than we think! So when u are sick we always see it as if death is closer and then when we are fine we forget! But don t give conditions because this is from the shaitan! Say Alhamdulillah that Allah az awajal gave u good and he guided u and made a path to seek the knowledge and may Allah Subahanawatha'la keep u like that and keep thanking Allah Subahanawatha'la about this! Alhamdulilahi rabbil alameen that Allah made it such for us and we want to go forward in life and not backward! And may Allah Subahanawatha'la keep it like that for us in the life! Ameen!! So there is a hayaath in the grave but the life is ghaib!

4 The hayaath ash shuhadah in the Barzakh- before they go to their houses in Jannah they will get the best life in the grave! Subahanallah! Even the person- the shuhadah who is killed he will not feel the pain of killing! Subahanallah! Already this life we are in pain right for the small things we feel pain! But in the aakhira the pain is worse! For the people who are wicked and bad they will go through really harsh severe pain- the angels will come and even scold him and pull their souls out which will cause severe pain for them! But for the shuhadah they feel nothing! Subahanallah! And their blood will be witness on the Day of Judgment so they have no shrouding and washing etc. Also these shuhadah will not have the questioning of the grave! Subahanallah! Because they passed the test 100 out of 100! Allahu Akbar! So imagine just for a good intention this is the rewards they are getting! Subahanallah! So may Allah Subahanawatha'la make it easy for us to do all our deeds for Allah's sake because all these things are testing our truthfulness! So may Allah az awajal grant us the Ikhlas for all the amal we do! The shuhadah if we want to get to this level what are we to do: Ask truthfully that u want to be a shaheed The prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said the one who ask Allah Subahanawatha'la about the shuhadah with truthfulness, then he will die as a martyr although he died on his bed! Because of what? TRUTHFULNESS!!! Making dua to Allah Subahanawatha'la with IKHLAS! We need to be truthful ourselves! And to be of the Siddiqeen!!!!!! Be truthful about everything else in your life! You need to be truthful with Allah! The shuhadah they were truthful in their life and the last test of their truthfulness was in jihad and they are rewarded for it! But for us if we really want their reward then we need to be truthful with Allah Subahanawatha'la! Don t say things or do things which u don t really mean or feel! Some people claim to love Allah Subahanawatha'la but in their heart they don t want to do certain commands that Allah az awajal has decreed for them! Truthfulness is where whatever u say it COMES FROM THE HEART! Because the Munafiqeen are liars! They see the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam and claim that he is the Rasoolullah and then what does Allah Subahanawatha'la say in the Quran? That they are kaazibeen! Because when u say we believe u are Rasoolullah then u believe what the rasool tells u right, but the Munaafiqs reject things in their heart right! So Subahanallah! So you need the JIHAD to do the truthfulness right! So the siddiqeen they too DON T HAVE THE QUESTION OF THE GRAVE!!! Subahanallah!!!!!!!!

5 It is said by the ulamah that only the believers and not the disbelievers [Allahu a lam] are having the questioning in the grave! Subahanallah the questions in the grave really we won t know how we will answer it until we go through the exam right! But this test is only once right! And Allah Subahanawatha'la gave us time in the dhunya where we are tested and tested to perfect our answers for the question in the grave! Now we said a mu min in the grave, it will be expanded for him until Yawmul Qiyaama and some scholars say that he will sleep till the Day of Judgment.. The souls of the shuhadah will be inside a green bird roaming around in Jannah!!!!!! Subahanallah! Their souls will be in the form of these green birds in Jannah where they can roam around and they even drink from the rivers of Jannah and eat from its fruits! And at the end of the day they go to lamps attached to the ARSH OF ALLAH! Subahanallah! They will be like this until the Yawmul Qiyaama! Go back to the ayat: أ ء و ن! ر ون They are alive but we perceive not! Subahanallah! In Surah Al Imran Allah Subahanawatha'la has said in a similar ayat و ن ا ذ ن " + وا ل أ و ا ل أ ء ( ) د ر &% م ر ز " ون.169 Think not of those who are killed in the Way of Allâh as dead. Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision- ر ن آ ھ م ن. + - و! ر ون ذ ن م + وا % م ن % م أ 2 و ف ( + % م و ھ م ز ) ون They rejoice in what Allâh has bestowed upon them of His Bounty, rejoice for the sake of those who have not yet joined them, but are left behind (not yet martyred) that on them no fear shall come, nor shall they grieve. 9. أ 8 ر ا ؤ ) ن 171.! ر ون ) 5 ن و. ل و أ ن They rejoice in a Grace and a Bounty from Allâh, and that Allâh will not waste the reward of the believers.

6 This ayat has a better explanation which cays ر &% م -( ) د attached to their lord! Because these martyrs are attached to Allah Subahanawatha'la right! - a provision will reach them! Subahanallah! Imagine being under the throne of Allah and ر ز " ون eating and drinking in Jannah! This is why they will be - ر ن happy and rejoicing! So they are not dead! Subahanallah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On Yawmul Qiyaama they will be resurrected and their blood will be a witness for them that they fought for the sake of Allah Subahanawatha'la! In the Seerah we spoke of a story about the mujahedeen! About a man who wasn t able to go to jihad but somehow he went and then this man was killed in the battle! And the son was crying about the father having died and then the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said: don t u know what your father is doing now? Allah Subahanawatha'la dint talk directly to any man like he spoke to your father right now [without a veil]!!!! Subahanallah! And what did the man ask Allah Subahanawatha'la: that if he were able to go back to the life and to fight for the sake of Allah and enjoy the moment of being killed for the sake of Allah! Allahu Akbar! Subahanallah! People differ when doing ibaadah for some people it is just Salah and rituals for some and for others it is ibaadah done out of love where u cannot finish and u want to keep going at it and talking to Allah and doing it to please him etc.it s like a love in your heart! Subahanallah! a delight in your heart that cannot be compared! ALLAHUMMA NASALUKA L SHAHADAAAH!!!!!! Siddiqeen is more than the saadiqeen right! Siddiqeen are for the people who Allah Subahanawatha'la bestowed his favour: Anbiyah Prophets Shuhadah Siddiqeen who all their life have one jihad to another and this is harder right! Subahanallah! Saliheen And certainly, We shall و ) + و ) م! ء ن ا 2 و ف و ا 8 وع و ) ص ن ا= و ال و ا= ) 3 س و ا ; ر ات و!&ر ر ن.155 test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As- Sâbirun (the patient)
