Downloaded from: justpaste.it/hniya بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم I greet you all with the greeting of Allah, His angels and His Messengers, the best of greetings: Asalam alaykoum wa rahmatullah wa barakatu. Recently I've come to a very important realization which I hope to share with you all today. May Allah allow you to benefit from what I am about to share with you and increase the reader and writer in scales. Many of those who have treaded this path and have made hijrah before us continue to never neglect to remind those who will follow in their footsteps to have ikhlas. To do hijrah sincerely for the sake of Allah. "Ikhlas (sincerity) in our actions and statements is of utmost importance for the acceptance of our deeds. Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated that Umar said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: "Verily, the reward of deeds depends upon the Niyyah (intentions) and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended." Therefore, every action that was not performed solely for Allah s Sake, is annulled and fruitless in this life and the Hereafter." In the stages of pre-hijrah many of us do not give this matter its due importance and some completely overlook this matter thinking "Of course it is for the sake of Allah, why else would I leave my prosperous life behind?" failing to realize that in reality their desires are at play. When reminded to not make hijrah for the sake of marriage, wealth, fame, etc we automaticaly think "of course, of course I would never do it for those reasons. It is purely for His sake.". But is it really? How many of us have taken the time to deeply reflect upon what is in our hearts, what truly are our motives? Let me tell you my dear respected brothers and sisters, it is very easy to deceive oneself however one can never deceive Allah. Pre-hijrah thoughts, ideas, aspirations have become a fitna for many of us. How so? Well the constant browsing through twitter, tumblr, etc to get the latest information has often lead to many of us fantasizing about living in darul islam which is not bad in of itself however this has led to us making plans about how we are going to live, our married life, what we are going to study etc etc. Now what this unnecessary planning and fantasizing does is that it creates this whole new wonderful hyped up realm inside our minds of what life is going to be like in darul islam. Here is where the problem comes in: because of this fantasy realm that we have created, hijrah does not become about soley pleasing Allah anymore. Rather it becomes about achieving this ideal life that we have created for ourselves. Therefore hijrah has become partly to please Allah and partly to fulfill our desires and this is very dangerous because our sole purpose in life is to
worship Allah alone with sincerity to earn His pleasure; And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me. 51:56 Say, "Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds. 6:162 Say, "I am only a man like you, to whom has been revealed that your god is one God. So whoever would hope for the meeting with his Lord - let him do righteous work and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone. 18:110 In regards to this particular ayah (18:110) Ibn Kathir mentioned that Imam Ahmad recorded that Abu Sa`id bin Abi Fadalah Al-Ansari, who was one of the Companions, said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah say, Allah will gather the first and the last on the Day of Resurrection, the Day concerning which there is no doubt. A voice will call out, "Whoever used to associate anyone with Allah in the deeds which he did, let him seek his reward from someone other than Allah, for Allah is the least in need of any partner or associate.) It was also recorded by At- Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah. One must take heed because doing an act for other than Allah can become minor shirk. When an act is a mixture of deen + dunya this act can either a) Be accepted by Allah The condition for this is that majority of one's intention has to be for the sake of Allah. (eg 90% going to hajj for His sake and 10% for trade) Daleel:
There is no blame upon you for seeking bounty from your Lord [during Hajj]. But when you depart from 'Arafat, remember Allah at al- Mash'ar al- Haram. And remember Him, as He has guided you, for indeed, you were before that among those astray. 2:198 b) Be an act of minor shirk This happens when when 50% or more of the intention is for other than Allah because now you have equated something to Allah. Therefore we must take caution and aim for 100% ikhlas in our intentions lest we fall into group b, especially when it comes to this great ibadah (hijrah) Then comes the question of does minor shirk come under the mashee a of Allah? Mashee'a is the Muslim's opportunity to be forgiven by Allah or interceded for when his sins outweigh his good deeds on youm il qiyama. There are two opinions on this issue: 1. Minor shirk does not fall under the mashee'a of Allah swt Some scholars (among them Ibn Taymiyyah) hold the opinion that one who commits minor shirk does not fall under the mashee'a of Allah and therefore will have to be punished in the hell fire before he can enter jannah. Daleel: Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin. 4:48 2. Minor shirk does fall under the mashee'a of Allah swt Other scholars hold the opinion that minor shirk does fall under the mashee'a of Allah. Their proof is the same verse (4:48) and that the verse is talking about major shirk and not minor because the chain of verses is talking about mushrikeen, munafiqeen, and the end of the verse seems to lead towards major shirk than to minor. Therefore the verse applies to major shirk according to their opinion.
The fact that there are two opinions on this matter shows the gravity of this issue. If we do not take heed our act of hijrah can be a) not accepted and b) an act of minor shirk that might or might not end up with us in hell fire. May Allah protect us. Thus every act that we do should be filled with ikhlas. Our goal in life is to gain the pleasure of Allah and everything else is a means to this goal. Often times many of us fall, despite knowing it, into making hijrah the goal itself or rather making the idealistic world we created our goal. You see once we set up this idealistic world in our minds what happens for many of us is that we completely skip over the value of hijrah to get to this new found false goal. So the whole purpose of hijrah has become to live a life under shari3ah, jihad, marriage, etc. All of these things are noble yes but it is not our goal. Our goal is to attain the pleasure of Allah and these are all just a means to achieve this goal. Hijrah is a means therefore we can not use a means to get to another means (jihad, marriage, etc). We often mix all of these things so much that we lose sight. The reason for life under shari3ah, jihad, marriage, etc is to please Allah as is with hijrah. All of these acts of worship are on table a) the means and attaining Allah s pleasure is on table b) the goal. Therefore each act of worship needs to be separated from the other and done with full attention and devotion. Wanting to make hijrah but then constantly thinking about what your life might be like in the khilafah is like devoting 20% of your attention to an act of worship e.g. reciting Quran and the other 80% to thinking about other acts of worship you will do later on in the week. We can all agree that in order for your ibadah to have quality one must be mindful and not distracted by other thoughts. Same goes for hijrah. We need to stop jumping ahead of ourselves. Once we realize that these ibadat are all a means then we can start to focus on doing one at a time to achieve our goal: the pleasure of Allah. We need to understand that our goal is not tied down to one act of worship (hijrah/jihad) there are still many ways to attain the pleasure of Allah. Thus in our pre-hijrah stage we need to do all the ibadat that we can to attain Allah s pleasure. Then once Allah grants us the opportunity to make hijrah we must focus on this ibadah and seeking His pleasure through it and not about the idealistic world that we have created because this will inevitably lead us to make this our goal which will ruin our ikhlas because then our hijrah has just become about fulfilling our desires to achieve this idealistic life, which can then lead us into committing minor shirk. I repeat, we need to stop jumping ahead of ourselves. We should not spend time fantasizing about our futures when it is not guaranteed. Focus on today, focus on how you can gain Allah s pleasure today for that is the key to your success. And
when the time for hijrah comes, again, focus on attaining His pleasure and do not obsess about the future. Once we have fulfilled one act of ibadah then we can shift our attention to doing other acts of ibadah. Therefore post-hijrah is when we can then start to focus on trying to do other ibadat such as jihad, marriage, etc that way we will not mix up the means with the goal. Take a good deep look at what is in your heart and your intentions. If your desire to make hijrah is partly for His sake and partly for your desires then rectify your intentions and ask Allah to grant you ikhlas. For staying in darul kufr forever is easier to handle than standing on youm il qiyama searching for your deed of hijrah only to find nothing. Remember that hijrah is one of the few things shaitan tries to get us to stop doing and if he can t get you to stop he will corrupt your intentions without you even realizing. So beware of the deceiver and do not be deceived. Most do not get a second shot at hijrah, so please rectify your intentions and always ask Allah to grant you ikhlas. I conclude with this analogy: Your mother wants to bake you a cake purely for your pleasure. However you want the cake in a month or two, so you inform your mother. Because your mother wanted to bake this cake purely for your sake and pleasure she has no problem delaying it so long as that is what pleases you. Now let s say your mom wanted to bake this cake for your pleasure but also because she hasn t had cake in a really long time and is craving it today. When you inform your mother that you want her to bake next month your mother s reaction will be disappointment, sadness, resistance to your will, etc. These negative feelings arose because your mother s desires were not fulfilled. Therefore negative feelings only ever occur when you are partially doing something for someone else and partially to fulfill your own desires.
Wallahu mathalul ala. When you want to make hijrah sincerely seeking His pleasure, it will not be such a blow when you have to delay because you understand that Allah is the best of planners and if you staying back is what pleases Him then you are also pleased. However when you want to make hijrah for His pleasure but also to live the idealistic life that you are not currently living in darul kufr there will be resistance, sadness, etc when you are made to delay. I repeat, it is very easy to deceive oneself however one can never deceive Allah. May Allah make us among the sincere, grant us ikhlas in all of our acts of worship and accept the Hijrah of those who preceded us.
