2 Merits of Sūrat al-takwīr This is a meccan sūrah. The surah that opens with a riveting description of The Winding Up of the sun at the end of earthly life and the dawn of eternity. It takes its name from the winding up, the enfolding or the darkening (takwīr) of the sun as mentioned in verse 1. The surah stress the fact that people will be confronted by their deeds on Judgement Day, asserting the truth of the Quran, and calling people to the right path. It opens with a powerful description of events on that Day. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) said that the person who recites this surah will be happy on the day when the book of deeds of people will be opened. Whoever wishes that Allah (s.w.t.) should show him His Mercy on the Day of Judgement should recite this surah. Recitation of this surah is especially good for the eyes. It improves vision and removes any ailments of the eyes.

4 ب ش م الل ي الر خ الر خ ي م ن م In the Name of Allāh, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. عظیم اور دائمی رخمج ں هام صے کے والے خدا अल र ह क न भ स ज फड क ऩ र औय अत मन त दम व न ह bi-smi llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīmi

5 Sūrat al-takwīr ١ إ ذ ا الش م س ك ر ت When the sun is wound up, جب چادر ک ا فجاب لپیٹ دیا جائے گا जफ स मय रऩ ट ददम ज एग, ˈiḏā š-šamsu kuwwirat

6 ٢ د ر ت و إ ذ ا الو ج م اهك when the stars scatter, جب ثارے گر پڑیں گے स य त य भ र ह ज ए ग, wa-ˈiḏā n-nuǧūmu nkadarat

7 ٣ ج ب ال و إ ذ ا ال ر ت ص ي when the mountains are set moving, جب پہاڑ خرکت گے ا جائیں میں जफ ऩह ड चर ए ज ए ग, wa-ˈiḏā l-ǧibālu suyyirat

8 ع ش ار ع ط ل ت ٤ و إ ذ ا ال when the pregnant camels are neglected, جب عوكریب جوےن والی اوهٹویاں معطل کردی جائیں گی जफ दस भ स क ग भबन ऊ टननम आज द छ ड द ज ए ग, wa-ˈiḏā l-ʿišāru ʿuṭṭilat

9 خ ش خ و إ ذ ا ال ش ر ت ٥ when the wild beasts are mustered, جب جاه روں ک اک ٹھا کیا جائے گا जफ ज गर ज नवय एकत र ककए ज ए ग, wa-ˈiḏā l-wuḥūšu ḥuširat

10 ٦ ب د ار ص ج و إ ذ ا ال ر ت when the seas are set afire, جب دریا بھڑک اٹھیں گے जफ सभ द र बडक ददम ज ए ग, wa-ˈiḏā l-biḥāru suǧǧirat

11 ٧ ج ت و إ ذ ا الو ف س ز و when the souls are assorted, جب روخ ں ک جشم ں صے ج ڑ دیا جائے گا जफ र ग क स भ-क स भ कय ददए ज ए ग, wa-ˈiḏā n-nufūsu zuwwiǧat

12 م ء ود ة ص ئ ل ت ٨ و إ ذ ا ال when the girl buried-alive will be asked اور جب زهدہ درگ ر لڑکی ں کے بارے میں ص ال کیا جائے گا औय जफ ज ववत ग ड गई रडक स ऩ छ ज एग, wa-ˈiḏā l-mawˈūdatu suˈilat

13 ب ا ي ذ هب ل ج ل ت ٩ for what sin she was killed. کہ اهہیں کس میں گواہ مارا گیا ےہ कक उसक हत म ककस ग न ह क क यण क गई, bi-ˈayyi ḏanbin qutilat

14 و إ ذ ا الص د ف ه ش ر ت ١٠ When the records [of deeds] are unfolded, اور جب هامہ اعمال موجشر کردیےئ جائیں گے औय जफ कभय-ऩत र प र ददए ज ए ग, wa-ˈiḏā ṣ-ṣuḥufu nuširat

15 و إ ذ ا الش م اء ك ش ط ت ١١ when the sky is stripped off, اور جب ا صمان کا چھلکا ا ثار دیا جائے گا औय जफ आक श क ख र उत य द ज एग, wa-ˈiḏā s-samāˈu kušiṭat

16 ١٢ و إ ذ ا ال ج د يم ص ع ر ت when hell is set ablaze, اگ اور جب جہو م کی بھڑکا دی جائے گی जफ जहन नभ क दहक म ज एग, wa-ˈiḏā l-ǧaḥīmu suʿʿirat

17 ج و ة ا ل ز ف ت ١٣ و إ ذ ا ال when paradise is brought near, اور جب جو ت لریب ثر کردی جائے گی औय जफ जन नत ननकट कय द ज एग, wa-ˈiḏā l-ǧannatu ˈuzlifat

18 ١٤ س م ع ل م ت ه ف خ ض ر ت ا ا then a soul shall know what it has readied [for itself]. ثب ہر هفس ک معل م ہ گا کہ هے اس کیا خاضر کیا ےہ त क ई ब क मक क त ज न र ग कक उसन क म उऩक स थत ककम ह ʿalimat nafsun mā ˈaḥḍarat

19 خ و س ا ل ش م ب ال ١٥ ف ل So I swear by the stars that return, میں ث ان صجاروں کی لشم کھاثا ہ ں ج پلٹ جاهے والے ہیں अत नह! भ सभ ख त ह ऩ छ हटन व र क, fa-lā ˈuqsimu bi-l-ḫunnasi

20 ك و س ال ج ار ال ١٦ the planets that hide, چلےن والے اورخ ھپ جاهے والے ہیں चरन व र, नछऩन -द फकन -व र क al-ǧawāri l-kunnasi

21 و الل ي ل إ ذا ع ش ع س ١٧ by the night as it approaches, اور رات کی لشم جب خجم ہ هے ک ا ئے स ह य त रत र जफ वह प रस थ न कय, wa-l-layli ˈiḏā ʿasʿasa

22 و الص ب ح إ ذ ا ث و ف س ١٨ by the dawn as it breathes, کی اور صبح لشم جب صاهس لیےن لگے औय स ह प र त जफ वह स स र wa-ṣ-ṣubḥi ˈiḏā tanaffasa

23 ر ص إ ه ي ل ك ل ل ك ر يم ١٩ it is indeed the speech of a noble apostle, بے شک یہ ایک معزز فرشےت کا بیان ےہ ननश चम ह वह एक आदयण म स द शव हक क र ई ह ई व ण ह, ˈinnahū la-qawlu rasūlin karīmin

24 ع ر ذ ي ل ة ع ود ذ ي ال ش م ك ين ٢٠ powerful and eminent with the Lord of the Throne, وہ صاخب ل ت ےہ اور صاخب عرش کی بارگاہ کا مکین ےہ ज शक क तव र ह, भस ह सनव र क मह क जसक ऩ ठ ह ḏī quwwatin ʿinda ḏī l-ʿarši makīnin

25 م ط اع ث م ا م ين ٢١ one who is heard and trustworthy as well. وہ وہاں لابل اطاعت اور پھر اماهت دار ےہ उसक आद श भ न ज त ह, वह वह ववश व सऩ त र ह muṭāʿin ṯamma ˈamīnin

26 و م ا ص اخ ب ك م ب م ج و ن ٢٢ Your companion is not crazy: اور ثمہارا صاثھی پیغمبر دی اهہ هہیں ےہ त म ह य स थ क ई द व न नह, wa-mā ṣāḥibukum bi-maǧnūnin

27 ق ال ف م ب ين ٢٣ و ل ك د ر ا ى ب ا ل certainly he saw him on the manifest horizon, فرشجہ ک هے اور اس ا فق بلود پر دیکھا ےہ उसन त (ऩय क ष ठ न क ) प रत म क ष नतज ऩय ह कय उस (फ रयश त ) क द ख ह wa-la-qad raˈāhu bi-l-ˈufuqi l-mubīni

28 و م غ ي ا ع ل ال ب ب ض و ين ٢٤ and he is not miserly concerning the Unseen. بخیل میں بارے کے غیب وہ اور هہیں ےہ औय वह ऩय क भ भर भ क ऩण नह ह, wa-mā huwa ʿalā l-ġaybi bi-ḍanīnin

29 و م ا ب ك ل ش ي ط ان ر ج يم ٢٥ And it is not the speech of an outcast Satan. لرا ن یہ اور کشی شیطان رجیم کا ل ل هہیں ےہ औय वह ( यआन) ककस ध तक य ह ए श त न क र ई ह ई व ण नह ह wa-mā huwa bi-qawli šayṭānin raǧīmin

30 ٢٦ ب ن ذ ف ا ي ن ث So where are you going? ث ثم کدھر چےل جارےہ ہ कपय त भ ककधय ज यह ह? fa-ˈayna taḏhabūna

31 م ين ل ع ال إ ن إ ل ذ ك ر ل ٢٧ It is just a reminder for all the nations, یہ صرف عالمین کے ایک لےئ هصیدت کا صامان ےہ वह त स य स स य क भरए फस एक अन स भ नत ह, ˈin huwa ˈillā ḏikrun li-l-ʿālamīna

32 ل م ن ش اء م وك م ان ي ش ج ك يم ٢٨ for those of you who wish to be steadfast; ج ثم میں صے صیدھا ہ ها چاےہ उसक भरए त त भभ स स ध भ गय ऩय चरन च ह li-man šāˈa minkum ˈan yastaqīma

33 و م ي ر ب ا ث ش اء ون إ ل ان ي ش اء الل م ين ال ع ال Sūrat al-takwīr ٢٩ but you do not wish unless it is wished by Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. اور ثم ل گ کچھ هہیں چاہ صک ےت مگریہ کہ عالمین کا پروردگار خدا چاےہ औय त भ नह च ह सकत भसव म इसक कक स य जह न क यफ अल र ह च ह wa-mā tašāˈūna ˈillā ˈan yašāˈa llāhu rabbu l-ʿālamīna
