1 ISLAMIC HISTORY - YEAR 10 - SCHEMES OF WORK - TERM 1 SCHEME TITLE: THE WORDS OF RASULULAAH (S.A.W) CONCERNING AL-KHULAFAA AR- RASHIDUN YEAR: 10 Students should be able to evaluate and explain: Who the Khulfaa Rashideen were How our Prophet (SAW) loved his Sahaabah (RA) dearly The importance of respecting the Sahaabah (RA) How we be rightly guided if we followed any of the companions Brief background on the four Khulafaa Rashidun Exercise books, text books, worksheets and Presentations Sahabah, Khulafa' Ar-Rashidun. Ummah Importance of good role models for human beings Giving opportunities to explore and develop moral concepts and values, for example, personal rights and responsibilities, truth, justice, equality of opportunity, right and wrong in light of the history of the Sahaabah (RA) Evaluating how these morals are universal human values. Contribution of Prophet (SAW) s noble companions and Khulafaa Rashidun in establishing a society based on justice and equality All be able to explain who the Khulafa were and what role they played within the Muslim Ummah. Most be able to explain why Muslims believe in following and adapting the life style of the Prophet (SAW) and his companions. Some people be able to reflect on the Sahabah s characteristics.

How the Sahaabah (RA) followed in the footsteps of the Prophet (SAW) Sahabah, Khulafa' Ar-Rashidun. Ummah, Deviate, Khalifa (caliphs) Exploring religious beliefs and ethical issues through the qualities and example of the Prophet (SAW) Showing respect and tolerance for people s opinions and feelings. Differentiation between right and wrong. To explore and develop moral concepts and values for example, personal rights and responsibilities, truth, justice, equality of opportunity, right and wrong. Tackling racial discrimination through the concept of Ummah. RE - Discussing Muhammad the final prophet sent to the Muslims. All be able to explain that the prophet (s.a.w) established a Muslim Ummah. Most be able to explain the need for a Muslim ummah. Some people be able to reflect on the Prophet (SAW) s characteristics.

Understand the various statements our Prophet (SAW) made before he passed away. How everyone knew that Muhammad (SAW) wanted Hadhrat Abu Bakr (RA) to succeed him after his demise. Sunnah, Farewell pilgrimage, Hijrah, Rabi-Ul-Awaal The ways in which people reacted to his death. Exploring religious beliefs and ethical issues through comparative study of pilgrimage in other major faiths. Showing respect and tolerance for people s opinions and feelings. (during the demise of the Prophet). Analysing moral points from the Prophet s sermon. To explore and develop moral concepts and values for example, personal rights and responsibilities, truth, justice, equality of opportunity, right and wrong. Respect for their own culture and that of others (cultural diversity). Showing interest in differences in relation to culture. Internet research of how different faiths carry out their sacred pilgrimage / holy days. RE - discussing the demise of the prophet (SAW) as an important point in Islamic history. Poster work on different religions and their ways of sacred worship / pilgrimage. All be able to explain that the prophet (SAW) completed his mission assigned by Allah. Most be able to explain the need for a Muslim leader. Some people be able to reflect on the speeches and sermons made by the prophet (SAW) which shows signs of his choices and coming of his demise.

Byzantine Empire, Sustenance and Campaign Morals & virtue brings honour & dignity to a person. (Hadhrat Abu Bakr (RA) Leadership qualities in Hadhrat Abu Bakr (RA) Promoting human rights such as equal distribution amongst the Muslims and commanding good & humane treatment of captives and prisoners of war. The false prophets were one by one defeated in the Riddah wars. Apostle, Jahaliyyah, Bedouin, Pretender, Riddah, Zakah Resoluteness in authority Enforcing law & order for the sake of social stability Adopting a firm stance against imposters Preventing vice & promoting virtue in society Key dates of the Islamic calendar Army numbers foot soldiers, cavalry & equipment Geography -Map skills. All be able to recall how some tribes revolted after the demise of Rasululaah (SAW) Recall how Abu Bakr(R) had to deal with people claiming to be prophets. Khalid Ibn Waleed (R) arrived in Iraq to assist the Muslim army. During the Khilafah of Abu Bakr (R), Syria and Iraq were conquered. Byzantine, confrontation, Expedition, Sasanids, Syria Key dates of the Islamic calendar Army numbers foot soldiers, cavalry & equipment Geography -Map skills. Recall how Iraq and Syria were freed from the Roman and Persian rule. Understand the battles that took place to help the people who were being oppressed by their leaders. Recall the armies that were sent out to fight and under whose leader ship. How Khalid (R) invented a new method to help his army across to Syria from Iraq as quickly as possible.
