FORWARD In this Kitaab Hadrat Maulana Abdul Hamid Saheb D.B. has explained the lofty and elevated position which Allah has afforded to Rasulullah. Hadrat Maulana has also explained that every person desires to live in the blessed city of Rasulullah which is Madinah Munawwarah. In order to achieve one s citizenship in Madinah Munawwarah one is required to BE hospitable, and his hospitality will secure him a place May Allah grant us the Taufeeq of inculcating the quality of hospitality within us which has been lost in the Muslim Ummah to a great extent. Ameen. BY:- MUFTI MOHAMMED DESAI Page 1

Rasulullah is remembered at all times throughout the day in the world. The first Page 4

place the sun rises in the world is the Fiji Islands. About an hour before sunrise Adhaan for Fajr takes place, in every Adhaan where there is the remembrance of Allah ; there is the remembrance of Rasulullah as well ا ش هد ا ن م م د ر س و ل هللا When Fajr adhaan starts in Perth, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc. Zohar adhaan starts in Fiji. When Fajr Adhaan starts in India, Pakistan, etc. Asar Adhaan start in Fiji. When Fajr Adhaan start in Africa, the Middle East and Europe, Esha Adhaans starts in Fiji and when Fajr Adhaans start in America the next day's Fajr Adhaans start in Fiji. In short, due to the time differences due to geographical differences Adhaan is taking place all the time, every second, throughout the world. These sound waves are in the air all the time. From east to west, north to south, due to geographical and time differences and due to the differences in the various Mazhaahib some Adhaans are taking place earlier, whilst others are taking place later. In Cairo alone, a city of a thousand Minaarets, in Karachi, a city of a thousand MasAajid, in Kualalampur, in Jakarta, Allahu Akbar, how many Adhaans are not taking place, how many people are not replying to those Adhaans?! Millions of Adhaans are ringing in the air all the time! Where Allah 's Zikr is taking place Rasulullah s Zikr is also taking place! How many people are replying to the Adhaan as well? We should also learn to reply to the Adhaan. Today, we have a weakness of not replying to the Azaan. We generally ignore the Azaan. The minimum requirement is to stop our work and reply to the Azaan. Page 5

Importance of replying to the Azaan After the demise of Zubaida the wife of Haroun-Ar-Rasheed, someone had seen her in a dream enjoying the elevated ranks of Jannah. She was asked, Where you blessed with these bounties on account of the social welfare work that you were involved in? It is famously known that she was responsible for getting a canal built from Baghdaad to Makkah Mukarramah which provided fresh water for the Hajees in Makkah Sharif. She replied in the negative. She then explained, On one occasion I requested a servant to bring me some water. As I was about to drink the water the Azaan was called out. I replied to the Azaan first and then only did I drink the water. On account of this action Allah had forgiven her. Nowadays, hardly anyone answers to the Azaan, even the Molvis, Tablighis or Sufis yet it is so important to answer to the Azaan. If a person is discussing a Deeni matter that is urgent then there is some concession but generally there is very little respect afforded to the Azaan. Whilst Azaan is being given we are busy talking loudly in the Masjid. The Actual response of Azaan is that a person goes to the Masjid for Salaah. The Malaaikah are also sending Durood Sharif upon Rasulullah all the time. What is meant by the Durood of the Malaaikah? Durood of the Malaaikah The meaning of the Durood of the Malaaikah is that they are continuously in the praises of Rasulullah. How much a person knows of the great and good qualities of anything or anyone, without being told, that person cannot stop talking and praising that person or thing. The Malaaikah are greatly aware of the greatness and magnificence of Rasulullah so they are continuously engaged Page 6

in the praises of Rasulullah. We should also continuously study the Seerat of Rasulullah and make dua also that Allah blesses us with the Ma'rifat of Rasulullah. How much we come to know of the noble, sublime and honourable life, character and teachings of Rasulullah, automatically, we will also get engaged in the praises of Rasulullaah. When a person awakens he recites the kalimah, when he sleeps he recites the Kalimah, during the day he replies to Adhaan, etc. from morning to night. Where Allah's Zikr takes place Allah's Rasul s Zikr is also taking place. When a child is born, Adhaan is given in his right ear and iqaamah in his left ear. Again Allah s Zikr and His Rasul s Zikr! Throughout his life he will read kalimah, reply to Adhaan, etc. When he dies the Kalimah will be read for him, his eye lids will be closed while reciting ب س م هللا و و على م ل ة ر س ل هللا I commence in the name of Allah and upon the religion of Rasulullah In his Janaazah Salaah Durud Sharif will be read and when laying him down in the Qabr 'Bismillah wa alaa millati Rasulillah' will be recited. From birth to death where there is the Zikr of Allah, the Zikr of His Rasul is also taking place! How many people are engaged in Zikrullah around the world at all times, due to time differences, how many lessons of Hadith are taking place around the world, how many gatherings for Zikrullah are taking place, how much is the Zikr of Rasulullah taking place in the entire world. We should also consider our attitude as to how much do we remember Rasulullah Page 7

? We don t even recite Durood Sharif even on the day of Jumuah which is one of the special Ibaadaat of Jumuah and Madinah Munawwarah yet we claim to be lovers of Rasulullah and followers of the Sunnat of Rasulullah. آپ کا مرتبہ اس جہاں میں O Rasulullah, Your position in this world Niyyat of recognising Rasulullah We should make the Niyyat of recognising Rasulullah and make effort accordingly. This is also an Ibaadat. We have to attain the recognition of Allah and recognise our Allah. Our Ibaadat will be according to the amount of recognition of Allah that we have acquired. A person goes for a job interview but he is interviewed by another person. This person doesn t know who is the boss and therefore regards the actual boss of the company as an ordinary person working in the company. You will not even greet him when you pass him as you are not aware of the fact that he is the boss. Similarly, you will not respond to him when he instructs you to carry out some work. When he realises who the boss is, the one paying his salary, and one s job is dependent on him then one s attitude will completely change towards him. Similarly, if we come to know who Allah is then one s attitude will change, and our manner of Ibaadat will also change. When we realise the position of Rasulullah then our attitude towards Rasulullah will also change. When we will recite At-Tahiyyaat in Salaah and reach the portion, السالم عليك ايها النيب ورمحة هللا وبركاته Page 8

Peace be upon you O Nabie, and the mercy and blessings of Allah then we will not be reciting words but we will recite with great feeling and meaning. At this point of At-Tahiyyaat there are two aspects that should be considered. One is that Salaam is upon Rasulullah as it is because of you that we have being blessed with the gift of Salaah which is a Miraaj of the believer. The second point, when we make our Salaah a Salaah in its true sense, then accordingly we will be valuable in the sight of Allah. When Rasulullah was taken for Mi raaj then he praised Allah by saying, All verbal, physical, monetary forms of worship are only for You. This had pleased Allah to such an extent that he said, السالم عليك ايها النيب ورمحة هللا وبركاته Peace be upon you O nabie, and the mercy and blessings of Allah Rasulullah was then elevated to that position where even Jibraeel Alaihis Salaam was unable to reach. If Jibraeel Alaihis Salaam had crossed that point then he would have been reduced to ashes. Obviously we will not be able to reach such an elevated position but we will also become valuable in the sight of Allah. Meditation in Tashahhud When we are seated in the Tashahhud position then we should meditate. When a person purchases over the internet then he looks at his purchases in his basket. Similarly, a person should focus his gaze at his lap in At-Tahiyyaat and meditate as to what he has filled in his basket. In other words, one should ponder as to what is the Page 9

quality of his Salaah. It is mentioned in the Hadith that the Salaah of some people take the form of a dirty rag and is thereafter flung at a person whilst the Salaah of others are accepted by Allah. When reciting the Durood after At-Tahiyyaat we should ponder and meditate that we have received our Salaah because of Rasulullah. If Rasulullah was not created then nothing would have existed. It is narrated in a Hadith ل و ل ك ملا خ ل ق ت ا خل ل ق Had it not been for you, (O Nabie ) I would not have created the creation. When a person has the opportunity of performing Salaah in the Haram of Makkah, Haram of Madinah, or close to the Rowdah-e- Mubarak then ponder a little that this is through the blessings of Rasulullah. When reciting Durood Sharif then contemplate that we are thanking Rasulullah for his favours and saying Jazakallah. Whilst we are in Madinah Sharif and Makkah Sharif then we see people from around the world present irrespective of their condition whether old, young, modern, conservative, kids, adults, all are engaged in Salaah. How this fundamental pillar of Islam had spread from Madinah Sharif to the four corners of the world. This was the consequence of the blessings of Rasulullah. So the position of Rasulullah is like the sun in the skies. جیسے خرشید ہو آسمان میں You are like the starts in the sky Page 10

The brightness of the sun The stars cannot compete with the sun. When the sun comes out the stars are still in the skies. It does not mean that the stars have vanished, but due to the brightness of the sun, the stars are no longer visible. Similarly, the moon is present, but it is no longer visible due to the brightness of the sun. Likewise, Rasulullah is like the sun and all the remainder of the Ambiyaa are like the stars. We should question ourselves as to whether we had recognised our Nabie. We should always read some Kitaab on Seerat (history of Rasulullah ), and the Ash aar of our Sheikh which has been compiled in the Kitaab of Maulana Rafique Hathurani Saheb. We should at least recite one couplet daily and remember Rasulullah. یہ ہے شہر مدینہ جس سے اسالم پھیال جہاں میں This is the city of Madinah, From where Islam had spread throughout the world When we in the city of Madinah then we should reflect as to where has Allah brought me. This city is so valuable that currently it is more valuable than Jannat also. Indeed Jannat is a great place without a shadow of doubt but Rasulullah is resting in Madinah Sharif and not in Jannat thus the value of Madinah Sharif is greater. To understand this point, a friend has got a beautiful palace or mansion. You went to visit him but he wasn t available so you returned. The resident of the palace is more valuable than the palace itself. Page 11

The benefit of thinking of Rasulullah Hadrat Thanvi has written that thinking of a pious person brings Noor into the heart. Can we then imagine the effect of thinking of Rasulullah and Madinah Sharif? If we are blessed with the Taufeeq of thinking of Madinah Sharif then we should make Shukr to Allah. This is a great gift from Allah that we are thinking of Madinah Sharif. What to say if we are physically able to visit Madinah Sharif. At the same time one should think of his reality. One should consider himself as one that is full of dirt and filth. Our Sheikh beautifully says in a poem, کہاں میں اور کہاں طواف تیرے گھر کا میں خواب دیکھ رہا ہوں یا رب یا جاگھ رہا ہوں Where am I, and where is the Tawaaf of Your house, Am I dreaming or am I awake? You have brought me to Baitullah, made me amongst the Ummat of Rasulullah. I am not worthy of being here but Allah has granted me the opportunity to be here. From all the cities of the world, Allah had chosen Madinah Munawwarah to spread Islam throughout the world. Hospitality of the people of Madinah Another speciality of the people of Madinah is the hospitality of the residents of Madinah Sharif. Whilst leaving the Haram on one occasion we met our Ustaad Qari Abdullah Salim Saheb who had Page 12

taught us Qiraat and Tajweed in Deoband. He is currently running a very successful Darul Uloom in Chicago, U.S.A. He had mentioned a very important point which added to our knowledge greatly. This also indicates that a person is learning all the time. One should always regard himself as a student and not one that knows everything. When a person feels that he knows everything and should teach others then one is closing the doors of knowledge upon himself. Maulana explained that he has a nephew that is Hafiz-ul-Quraan as well as an engineer by profession. He resides in Madinah Sharif and is a very hospitable person. He goes out of his way to serve the Ulema that visit the holy lands. He then explained the requirement in order to qualify to be a resident of Madinah Munawwarah. He said, You don t have to be a great Aalim, nor a great Aabid, nor a Aashiq, but hospitality is the requirement to be called to Madinah. Whoever visits Madinah Munawwarah are the guest of Rasulullah, and Rasulullah went out of his way to host his guest. Once a delegation came to Madinah Munawwarah and as was the habit of Rasulullah, he asked, Who would host the guest? In the Khanqah the guest that come are the guest of the Sheikh. It is physically impossible for the Sheikh to host every one of them. Whoever is chosen to entertain the guest are actually acting on behalf of the Sheikh. When this delegation arrived, then Sahaaba took the guests to their home. However, one person was left and no one was really prepared to host him as he possessed some evil qualities, so Rasulullah took him as his personal guest. Similarly, we are also regarded as the host of Rasulullah in this day and age. Who would have visited Madinah Munawwarah if Rasulullah was Page 13

not resting there? The value of the Masjid is because of Rasulullah. The value of the Rowdah is because of Rasulullah. Hospitality was a quality that was dominant in the lives of all the Ambiyaa. Similarly, hospitality was found in the lives of all the Sahaaba and the Awliya. In our country, there was a time where the guest would be taken home if they are seen outside the Masjid. Unfortunately we avoid the guests that come nowadays. The hospitality of the people of Madinah is outstanding to such an extent that no other city in the world has hospitality like the residents of Madinah Munawwarah. People will bear witness that Dastarkhaans are laid out in Madinah on a daily basis. The host serve dates in punnets, cups, etc. Many people eat the dates even before the Maghrib Azaan but the host will never refuse them. The host who is generally a wealthy Arab breaks the bread and distributes the dates personally. This type of hospitality is not found anywhere in the world. Ramdaan in Madinah Sharif We were once in Madinah Sharif during the month of Ramdaan with our Sheikh. The host had appointed certain people to bring guests to their Dastarkhaans. They then take a promise that you will only come to this specific Dastarkhaan for the remainder of your stay. The people fight with each other to host the guests. We had also experienced that whenever we visited the poorest people of the poorest country, they too will host the guest in such a manner that one will think that these people are extremely wealthy. This is a quality that is leaving us and we should strive to revive this quality. It is not necessary that one should only be hospitable to a Muslim but even one is permitted to be hospitable to a non-muslim. Page 14

Fortunate is the person that makes an intention of inviting people to meals when going for his Salaah to the Masjid. The Sahaaba were such that they didn t even eat if they didn t have a guest. The people of Madinah Sharif exceed all others in the quality of hospitality. Whilst Rasulullah was alive he would ask the Sahaaba, Who is it that will entertain the guest (i.e. guest of Rasulullah )? We should also learn that this is what the Khanqah and Tasawwuf is all about. The guests that come to the Khanqah are actually the guests of the Sheikh but he is unable to host all of them. Those that host the guest of the Sheikh are indeed very fortunate as these guests have come to learn the love of Allah. The Sahaaba of Rasulullah involved themselves in two Khidmaat, one was to serve them by feeding them and secondly to teach them the Deen. This is exactly what the Khanqah is about. The Khanqah of Hadrat Maulana Hussein Ahmad Madani was very famous. Every Nabie, Rasool, Sahaabi, Wali of Allah possessed the quality of hospitality. They were extremely hospitable. Any person that wants to be pulled to Madinah Munawwarah doesn t have to worry about having his Iqaamah documents but just inculcate the quality of hospitality and Allah will sort out the remainder. Entertaining non-muslim guests In Madinah Munawwarah, Rasulullah had a non-muslim guest. Rasulullah enquired from the Sahaaba, Who is it that will entertain our guest? The entertaining of these guests was not only to feed them but to teach them Deen. The Sahaaba knew the terrible character of this non-muslim so they refused to entertain Page 15

him. Generally, we will not entertain people with evil character. However Rasaulullah said, The guest will stay at my house. He spent the night at the home of Rasulullah and messed the bed. He then left the home in the middle of the night fearing his dignity. In that era the most valuable possession of a person was his sword. The sword was extremely valuable as the car of a person in today s time, or a person is totally paralysed without his cell phone in this day and age. It holds extreme value to a person. This person forgot his sword. On the other hand Rasulullah noticed that the guest had messed the bed and began cleaning the mess personally. That Nabie of Allah that was absolutely pure internally and externally began cleaning the bed. When this person returned and seen Rasulullah cleaning the mess, he immediately said, O Nabie of Allah, cleanse my heart of the filth of Kufr and Shirk. It is absolutely easy to speak of this character; listening to these talks are even easier. However, if a person adopts this character of Rasulullah, then the life of a person will be absolutely enjoyable in this world as though he is enjoying the bounties of Jannat. When a person learns to forgive others then Allah will keep you happy. When a person cannot forgive then the heart and mind of a person will be totally tightened. He is deprived of enjoyment in life and he is a totally unhappy person. When a person learns to share and forgive then a person enjoys tremendous happiness. Nowadays we enjoy eating plates of Biryani. The happiness is even greater if we get the Taufeeq of feeding a poor and hungry person. A person with good character enjoys to the maximum. A person that has a light at home gets the maximum benefit from it. On a cold night you have the heater switched on, you will get the maximum benefit from it. In short, the person that possesses good character benefits the most. Page 16

The Ulema have written volumes on the character of Rasulullah, but sufficient is the verse of the Quraan Sharif which indicates that the character of Rasulullah is sublime. Rasulullah had complete control of his character. The Character of Hadrat Madani Sheikh-ul-Islam Hadhrat Moulana Sayyid Hoosein Ahmad Madani is travelling by train, a Hindu gets up to relieve himself, he returns almost immediately, Hadhrat understood immediately that the toilet is not in a clean condition, the spiritual son of Nabi quietly gets up and with his own hands, the hands of a Sayyid, cleans the toilet, returns and tells the Hindu the toilet is now in a usable condition! He says first cleanse my heart of kufr before I even relieve my body of its dirt. Subhanallah! This was the character of our elders whose name we take and boast about - but where are we? In the Khanqah of Sayyid Hadrat Maulana Madani, a person never used to perform Salaah but used to be first on the Dastarkhaan. The remainder of his time would be spent walking in the market place. The Naazim (person responsible for the Khanqah) expelled him from the Khanqah. When Hadrat found out, he reprimanded the Naazim. He said, He is my guest not your guest. Your duty is to take care of the guest and not make Tarbiyat of the guest. Hadrat Maulana Saeed Khan Saheb used to say, The hotels have removed the quality of hospitality. Muslims no longer give loans to others but you are now directed to the bank for a loan. Previously, people used to go for Salaah to the Masjid and one specific intention they would make was that of bringing home a guest for meals. Page 17

Hadrat Sheikh was a very hospitable person. On one occasion some guest arrived at Zuhr time. Hadrat told his family to make Kitchri which is similar to the Kitchri that we make. He then bought the sour milk and left it at home before Zuhr Salaah and then proceeded for the Zuhr Salaah. After the Zuhr Salaah, when he returned the food was freshly prepared for the guest. All our Buzurgs were always hospitable. Today, we pretend as though we didn t see anyone at the Masjid. May Allah kindle the quality of hospitality in us which a great Ibaadat. اگر صلیےعلی نہ ہو زبان پر تو کیا اثر ہوگا آہ وفغاء میں If there isn t Durood on the tongue, Then what effect will our crying and supplication have. Shedding tears at the time of Dua Hadrat Moulana Shah Abdul Ghani Phulpoori says that when tears flow from the eyes during duas, etc. then this is a cash receipt from Allah that your dua, etc. has been accepted. Everyone cannot cry, and those that cry in Dua are not able to cry every time. However, Durood Sharif is such an Amal which everyone can read every time. Durood Sharif is like an audited receipt! A receipt issued by the auditors, so there can be no doubt in its genuineness! Hadrat Umar used to instruct the people to recite Durood Sharif with all their other acts of Ibaadat. The Duas of a person remains Page 18

suspended between the heavens and the earth. It is however accepted due to the recitation of Durood Sharif. Durood Sharif is like a tow truck, when you get stuck with your car somewhere, the tow truck comes and pulls you and finally gets you on track again. The tug at airports and harbours puts massive aeroplanes with all its passengers and cargo on its way, which then fly to far of destinations. At the harbours, the tugs direct big ship with all it's containers, etc. The ship then gets on its way and delivers containers in the world. This is the function of Durood Sharif. Moulana Baayazid Pandor said, Namaaz is solely for the remembrance of Allah. Allah Himself says, و أ ق م الص ال ة ل ذ ك ر ي Establish and perfect your Salaah solely for My remembrance! But Allah himself has put Durood Sharif in Salaah, because of which we will think of Rasul, in At-Tahiyyaat and after it! Why? Because Allah is Arhamur-Rahimeen! Allah says إ ن ا ه لل ل ي ض يع أ ج ر ال م ح س ن ني Verily Allah does not destroy the reward of the good doers. We all know the condition of our Salaah, where is it in a position to be accepted? However, now, by the Barkat of Durood Sharif it will be accepted, Insha Allah. Moulana Thanwi says that wudhu is not complete until a person does not read Durood Sharif. ورفعنا کا انعام یہ ہے Page 19

آپ کا ذکر ہے دو جہاں میں The reward given to Rasulullah was Wa rafa na (We have raised your mentioning). You are remembered in both the worlds. In the world we remember Rasulullah in Salaah, in Azaan, Durood Sharif, the angels remember Rasulullah, Allah sends continous Durood upon Rasulullah. The point to consider is regarding ourselves, Am I reciting Durood upon Rasulullah? We should always remember that our recitation of Durood is of benefit to us, as Rasulullah is not in need of our Durood. If we recite Durood then our names will also be included in the list of those people that recited Durood upon Rasulullah. شرط توحید کامل یہی ہے عشق ہو آپ کا قلب وجاہنمیں A condition for the perfection and completion of Imaan Your love is in the heart and soul Our love for Rasulullah is so weak that we are unable to recite Durood. We do not follow the Sunnats of Rasulullah. Our attire contradicts the Sunnat appearance when we on holiday. We feel shy to express our identity as Muslims. Imitating the Kuffaar Allah states in the Quraan-e-Kareem, Page 20

و ل ت ر ك ن وا إ ل ال ذ ين ظ ل م وا ف ت م س ك م الن ار و م ا ل ك م م ه ن د ون ا ه لل م ن أ و ل ي اء ث ل ت نص ر و ن And do not incline (do not associate with and imitate) those who do wrong (the Kuffaar) for then the fire will reach you If we have to visit a Muslim we will not be able to tell that the child is a Muslim child due to the dressing of the child. Many a times the father is an Alim, Hafez, the mother is an Aalima, yet there isn t any sign of Islam on the child. We allow the children to wear western clothing such as bermudas and t-shirts with various prints on them. Thereafter we cry when these children tread the wrong path. The sad path is that we do not realize that we are on the wrong path. Hadrat Sheikh laments and cries that people have taken poison to be medication and medication to be poison. When a person thinks that living it up like the non-believers is the correct way then how will we see light and gain salvation. These things have become common amongst the pious people, people of our circles. کوئی سمجھیگا کیا غیر ممکن آپ کا رتبہ دو جہاں میں Where can anyone ever understand your position in both the worlds? Allama Busairi says that for the varst majority of the people he is Rasulullah. In reality we cannot understand the position of Rasulullah. Imaam Maalik says, touching the Kafn of Rasulullah is more valuable than the covering of the Ka aba Sharif and the throne of Allah, so what is the position of Rasulullah. Page 21

The Quraan Sharif is the Sifat (quality/ attribute) of Allah. The question arises whether the Quraan Sharif is superior or is Rasulullah superior. It is absolutely difficult to come to a decision. However, the Quraan Sharif is so great and the discussion is whether Quraan Sharif is greater or Rasulullah, thus we can well imagine the position of Rasulullah. We praise the film actors, film stars, sports players, politicians, yet we sit in Madinah Sharif and discuss sporting events. What relationship do we enjoy with Rasulullah? سبز گنبد پر جس کی نظر ہو وہ بھال جا ئے جس گلستان میں Whoever s sight is on the green dome He won t go into any other garden (i.e. he won t enjoy anything of Dunia) When a person loves another then he says, You are in my eyes all the time. In this context it will mean that the person that loves Rasulullah then which other garden in the world will he go into. There is no other garden in the world like Madinah Munawwarah. The lands of Makkah Sharif and Madinah Sharif are our Maraakiz and there isn t any such place in the world. The best time of a person s life is spent in Makkah Sharif and Madinah Sharif, in the Haram Sharif, and closest to the Rowdah-e-Mubarak without causing inconvenience to anyone. Currently there is so much of construction taking place but the crowds aren t stopping. What a pull Allah has kept in these places that people from the cross section of the world, irrespective of colour, nationality, countries flock there. What an honour isn t it that I have the opportunity to be Page 22

present amongst them as well. A person also realises that he is part of the Ummat that is present throughout the world. نام کیسا ہے پیارا محمد جس کے صدقے میں ہے ایمان جاہ میں How beautiful is the name Muhammad Because of whom we got Imaan in the world A Miser It is mentioned in the Hadith that a person that does not read Durood, even after hearing the name of Rasulullah (and being reminded thereby of the favours of Rasulullah ) is a miser. When a person will take the name Muhammad then automatically a person will recite Durood. The sequence of the Kalimah is that first is La ilaha Illalah which is most important. However, in reality first is Muhammadur-Rasulullah. Without Muhammad a person would have never known who Allah is irrespective of one s intelligence as Allah is unseen to the human being. It is impossible to perceive Allah with his senses. A person will only be able to recognise Allah through Wahi which was revealed upon Rasulullah. A important point comes to mind here, an Arab person was once sitting next to me in the Haram Sharif and reciting his Wazaaif which are quite similar to the Wazaaif which we recite. He was also reciting the verses of the Quraan Sharif which indicate towards the Qudrat and favours of Allah. We should also recite such verses and remind ourselves of the power of Allah and the favours of Allah upon us. Similarly, one should recite those verses of the Quraan Page 23

Sharif which indicate towards the qualities of Rasulullah such as the verse which, You are upon sublime character (O Rasulullah ), or We have sent you as a mercy unto mankind. This will tremendously assist one in increasing his relationship with Rasulullah. یہ ہے فیضان نور نبوت جو ہے اسالم سارے جہاں میں This is the blessings of the Nur of Nabuwwat, That Islam is in the entire world A person is not only seeing this in theory on a video clip, but a person witnesses this in Makkah Sharif and Madinah Sharif personally. In these places you will see people of all nationalities present and this greatly pleases a person. He feels how great is the Ummat of my Nabie. During the era of Rasulullah, Madinah Munawwarah was extremely small. The current building of Masjid-e- Nabawi was the entire city of Madinah Munawwarah in the time of Rasulullah. It was the Imaan, A amal and relationship with Allah that was the means of Islam spreading throughout the world. It was not on the basis of material wealth and infrastructure. کیا کہوں رفعت شان گنبد کچھ نہیں اختر دم ہے زبان میں What can I say about the elevated rank of the dome of Rasulullah I have no words to express this Page 24

Language and dictionaries have also failed in explaining the elevated rank of the dome of Rasulullah. If we have to ponder a little, we will realise what a favour Allah has blessed us with that He has taken us to the Rowdah-e-Mubarak where Rasulullah, Hadrat Abu Bakr and Hadrat Umar is also present. Part of the Salaam that we recite, we are speaking directly to Rasulullah. We should only learn the words of Salaam but we should understand the meanings also. Our Umrah will be valuable according to the level of our Islaah and our connection with Allah. If we are involved in worldly matters there, we will be deprived of such enjoyment. For many people, it has become a tour whereby they are taking pictures, and having picnics in the Haram. There are so many people in front of Masjid-e-Nabawi yet they do not even know where the Rowdah-e- Mubarak is situated. If a person prepares then one will experience the difference. Programmes in Madinah Sharif A friend of ours that attends the discourses at the Khanqah met me in Madinah Sharif. He immediately asked me as to when are the programmes and where are the programmes. I told him that there is only one programme and that is Masjid-e-Nabawi. The only programme in Masjid-e-Nabawi is Durood Sharif. We learn from our Mashaaikh that our greatest Sheikh is Rasulullah. We are in the companionship of Rasulullah when we are in Madinah. Indeed, this is a great honour. Our Sheikh explains that when we attend the gatherings of our sheikh then our Ma moolaat should be postponed. We are not saying that it should be discarded as that is disrespect. Some Mureeds come to the Sheikh and continue reciting their Wazaaif Page 25

whilst the Sheikh is delivering a lecture. Hadrat says, They are trying to say that if you are Rumi then we are not less than Ghazali. A person should completely annihilate himself in front of the Sheikh. When a great Sheikh goes to Madinah, then he too shouldn t worry about his Mureeds but behave in a humble manner. One view of the Mashaaikh is that a person shouldn t convey the Salaams of others to the Sheikh as one should try and attract the attention of the Sheikh for himself. If he conveys the Salaam of others then the attention of the Sheikh will be diverted to others. However, there are certain Mashaaikh that show more attention to you if you convey the salaams of others. Nevertheless, one should cut down his Maamoolaat to minimum and recite Durood Sharif excessively. We should be grateful to Rasulullah for all the favours he has showered upon us. The first aspect of Durood Sharif is to say Jazakallah to Rasulullah. ل و ل ك ملا خ ل ق ت ا خل ل ق Had it not been for you, (O Nabie ) I would not have created the creation. محمدنہ ہوتےتوکچھ بھی نہ ہوتا If Muhammad was not born, nothing would have been created We should therefore realise the position of Rasulullah and recite Durood excessively. Secondly, we should make Dua for Rasulullah. There is a great Sheikh in Madinah Munawwarah. We discussed this issue and he Page 26

was surprised that a person has to make Dua for Rasulullah. A person also has to make Dua for his Sheikh as well. A mureed is regarded as nothing in front of the Sheikh yet he should make Dua for his Sheikh. The status of Rasulullah is extremely high so what Dua can one make for Rasulullah. Dua for Rasulullah ا ت ممدن الوسيلة والفضيلة وابعثه مقاما ممودن الذي وعدته انك ل ختلف امليعاد O Allah! Grant Muhammad Waseela and virtue and raise him on the praiseworthy position which You have promised him, verily You will not break Your promises If a person recites the Dua after Azaan then the intercession of Rasulullah becomes compulsory for us. Rasulullah is not in need of our Dua, but actually we will benefit by reciting these Duas. The Sheikh then asked me, How do you make Dua for your Sheikh? I replied, This was taught to us by our Sheikh which is, O Allah! Elevate and increase the rank of our Sheikh. O Allah! Make my Sheikh the leader of all the Awliya of his time. Once we told Hadrat, O Allah! Make my Sheikh the leader of the Awliya of all times. Hadrat gave it a little thought and said, Mubarak! Rasulullah is also a human and a human possesses human qualities. They are pleased with such Duas and appreciation. When they are happy then their hearts flow with Dua for one and they focus all their attention to one. This causes a person to fly towards Allah. When a person learns these etiquettes and benefits in the Khanqah of his Sheikh, then how much more will a person benefit when he goes to Rasulullah and spends his time correctly there. Page 27

The third thing that is included in our Durood Sharif is the praises of Rasulullah. Allah himself praises Rasulullah, the Sahaaba would praise Rasulullah and the Ulema of every era had praised Rasulullah by composing various poems. Hujjatul Islam, Hadhrat Moulana Qasim Nanotwi says ساری دنیاکے کماالت ایک تجھ میں لیکن تیرے کماالت کسی میں نہیں مگر دو چار The whole world's perfection, nobility and honour is all alone in you, but all your noble character and perfection is in none but just a few. Fourthly, a person should express his love for Rasulullah and this aspect is also included in the Durood Sharif that we recite. Such a person will then benefit whether he sits on the right hand side of the Rowdah or at the leg side or even at a distance in Masjid-e- Nabawi, to such an extent that even if a person is seated outside on the marble tiles and reciting Durood whilst looking at the dome of Rasulullah, and this causes his heart to be saturated then a person will fly towards Allah. This is how a person spends his time in Madinah Munawwarah. How to spend one s time in Makkah Mukarramah Makkah Mukarrama is the house of Allah. A person that is punctual with Zikrullah should ensure that he completes his Page 28

Zikrullah in Makkah Sharif as well in front of the Baitullah. There are five particular Tasbeehat that should be recited as Allah inspired me with these Tasbeehaat. The first is recitation of the third Kalimah. This should be recited a hundred times. If time permits then recite even more than this. This is our purpose of going to the holy places. We haven t gone there to picnic, shop and dine. The second is one Tasbeeh of the fourth Kalimah (i.e. hundred times fourth Kalimah). These Tasbeehaat are beloved to Allah, especially during the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah. The third is that tasbeeh which pleases Allah tremendously. When Allah is extremely pleased then Allah pays accordingly. We should also remember that Allah is one that appreciates greatly. The words are, اشهد ا ل اله ا ل هللا وحده ل شريك له اله واحد احد صمدا مل يتخذ صاحبة و ل ولد ومل يكن له كفوا احد If a person recites these words there whilst engaged in Tawaaf or whilst making Sa ee between Safa and Marwa and he feels the presence of Allah then how great isn t it. The fourth action that is most beloved to Allah is Tauba and Istighfaar so recite a Tasbeeh of Istighfaar. Allah loves a person that makes the Ibaadat of Allah and then finally says that he was unable to fulfil the right of Allah. Finally, one should recite one Tasbeeh of Durood Sharif. Page 29

اگر صلے علی نہ ہو زبان پر تو کیا اثر ہوگا آہ وفغاء میں If there isn t Durood on the tongue, Then what effect will our crying and supplication have. After fulfilling these actions, a person can take a rest as well. If need be, one may also purchase his needs and necessities from the market place but spend your time correctly. A person that does so will comment by saying, the best time of my life was spent in Makkah and Madinah Sharif. Every person needs to spiritually de-tox and this is the greatest detoxing. This is the reason a person goes to the Khanqah as well. When the process of de-toxing is over then a person feels completely rejuvenated. The Sheikh will teach the Mureed how to go and de-tox in Madinah sharif.. May Allâh grant us the ability to practice! Âmîn! Page 30
