Section A Buddhism page 2 or Section B Hinduism page 4 or Section C Sikhism page 6. Answer two questions. Each question has two parts. Answer both parts of each question chosen. Do all rough work in your answer book. Cross through any work you do not want to be marked. Information The marks for questions are shown in brackets. The maximum mark for this paper is 90. In each question, the first part tests your knowledge understing. The second part tests your skills of reasoning evaluation. 2 2 Section A BUDDHISM Answer two questions. Each question has two parts. Answer both parts of each question chosen. Question 1 Samsara the three marks of existence 0 1 Examine both the concept of anicca its implications for the Buddhist attitude to life. 0 2 Belief in anicca always leads to a pessimistic view of life. Question 2 The Four Noble Truths 0 3 Outline the Buddhist teaching on tanha examine the effect of this belief on the Buddhist way of life. 0 4 It is impossible to remove tanha from human existence. How far do you agree? Question 3 The Eightfold Path 0 5 Examine the meaning of right action right livelihood in the Eightfold Path. 0 6 Right action is the most important aspect of the Eightfold Path.

Question 7 Worship in Hinduism 1 3 Examine the nature importance of both yajna of festival celebrations in Hindu worship. 1 4 Festival celebrations are central to Hindu worship. Question 10 Festivals 1 9 Examine the meaning significance of the celebration of Diwali for Sikhs. 2 0 Today, the inner meaning of Diwali is more important than the public festival. Question 11 The Guru Granth Sahib the Gurdwara 2 1 Examine the formation authority of the Guru Granth Sahib. 2 2 For Sikhs, reciting the Guru Granth Sahib is more important than understing the teachings within it.
