Built on the site of an earlier castle in AD , the fort, apart from other important units, contains Jahangiri Mahal, Khass Mahal, Diwan-i-Khass, Diwan-i-Am, Machchhi Bhawan and Moti Masjid. Many extant buildings were erected by Shah Jahan (AD ). Irregularly triangular on plan, it is enclosed by a double battlemented massive wall of red sandstone which is about 2 km in perimeter and interrupted by graceful curves and lofty bastions. Of its four gates, the most impressive is the Delhi Gate on the west. After some free time for shopping, you will be transferred to the railway station for the short train ride to Delhi. Khajuraho - The city was once the original capital of the Chandela Rajputs, a Hindu dynasty that ruled this part of India from the 10th to the 12th centuries. The Khajuraho temples were built over a span of a hundred years, from 950 to The Chandela capital was moved to Mahoba after this time, but Khajuraho continued to remain the important destination.the whole area was enclosed by a wall with eight gates, each flanked by two golden palm trees. There were originally over 80 Hindu temples, of which only 22 now stand in a reasonable state of preservation, scattered over an area of about 8 square miles (21 km). Unlike other cultural centers of North India, the temples of Khajuraho never underwent massive destruction and a number of them have survived. They are fine examples of Indian architectural styles that have gained popularity due to their salacious depiction of the traditional way of life during medieval times. Ranthambhore National Park is one of the finest tiger reserves in the country where most visitors are likely to spot one of these majestic animals. 20 3 Overnight stay at the hotel. DAY 03: RANTHAMBHORE - JAIPUR by road (180 km, 04 hrs) Early morning drive into the National Park for a game drive. Tiger sightings are reported almost daily, usually in the early morning. The lakeside grasslands and the drier areas of the park provide fine habitat for sambar; there are also a few leopards, Nilgai, chinkara, sloth bear, jackal, wild boar, crocodile and about 300 species of birds. Return to the hotel for breakfast and relaxation. Afterwards drive to Jaipur and check in at your hotel. The Pink City is the only city in the world symbolizing the nine divisions of the Universe through nine rectangular sectors sub-dividing it.
