1 LESSON 1 (SUNDAY): A WOMAN TOUCHES JESUS CLASS SCHEDULE 1. Welcome/Books of the Bible 2. Singing/Memory Verse 3. Bible Lesson 4. Craft Time 5. Snack/Prayer SCRIPTURE REFERENCE: Mark 5:25-32 SUPPLIES NEEDED Computer/Tablet for video A Woman Touches Jesus coloring sheet BIBLE TIME There were always many people around Jesus. They all wanted to listen to him and be healed by the miracles he performed. One day, while Jesus was in a big crowd, a woman tried her best to touch Jesus. She got as close as she could and touched the bottom of his cloak. Jesus said, Who touched me? He could tell, even though she touched the very tip of his clothes, that someone had touched him, because he felt his power leave him to help her. Jesus disciples looked around, they said, Jesus, there are many people here, we are all bumping into each other! Then, a woman came from the crowd, bowed before Jesus and said, I did. I wanted to be healed. I have been sick for a long time and knew if I touched you, I would get better. Jesus smiled at the woman and said, Your faith has healed you. Go in peace. The woman had faith that all she had to do was touch Jesus and she would be healed of her illness. This shows us that God s power in Jesus was very very strong. We can all be thankful for the power Jesus has. Do you think the woman was thankful for being healed? I sure would be! We can all be thankful for the power God has given Jesus to help those who love him. Craft Recap: Who was healed by Jesus? The woman! How was she healed? She touched the end of Jesus cloak. What did Jesus tell the woman? Your faith has healed you! Jesus has the power to take care of those who have faith in him. Teacher s Tip: There are several links provided to watch small animated movies on YouTube this quarter. He asked one of his disciples, his helpers, to find food. Only one little boy had food, but it was not enough! He brought five loaves of fish, and two fish. Do you think this would be enough to feed 5,000 people? No way! But then, a miracle happened. Jesus told everyone to sit down. He took the boy s lunch and prayed, thanking God for the food they had. He broke the pieces of fish and bread up and the disciples gave it to all the people. Jesus was able to feed 5,000 people with only 5 loaves of bread and two fish! It was a miracle! There were even pieces of food left over! Jesus took care of the people who followed him that day. Jesus takes care of us as well. Craft Recap: How many people did Jesus feed? 5,000! Be sure to have your sticker template copied out onto sticker paper, and the individual stickers cut out into squares before class. CRAFT CORNER Arrival Activity: Set out sensory activities for the children to play with as they arrive. Check out our Pinterest page for great ideas on how to create sensory activities. After the lesson, pass out the coloring sheets to color and place in binders. Allow each child to place the stickers onto the fruit snack packs and dismiss early so the children can go around to the other classrooms, passing them out to the other children. Make sure there is enough for them to have one too. Be sure to remind them they are showing love just like Jesus. GROW Children s Curriculum 4s & 5s, Year 1, Quarter Start2Finish. Jesus loves everyone and especially loves children! One day, while Jesus was teaching, a group of children got really really close so they could see and hear Jesus. There was such a big crowd, and they had a hard time seeing. Jesus helpers, the disciples told the children to move so the adults could hear. This made Jesus sad. He said, Let the children come to me! I want to see the children! Jesus was never too busy to sit with children. Jesus loves all children. Jesus loves each and every one of you, and me too! Let s sing the song, Jesus Loves the Little Children together. I am so thankful Jesus loves all of us the same, and am thankful that Jesus took the time for little children. We are all very special to Jesus. Craft Recap: Who came to listen to Jesus? Al kinds of people! Who came up front to listen to Jesus? Children! 29 LESSON 8 (SUNDAY): JESUS HEALS A BLIND MAN CLASS SCHEDULE 1. Welcome/Books of the Bible 2. Singing/Memory Verse 3. Bible Lesson 4. Craft Time 5. Snack/Prayer SCRIPTURE REFERENCE: John 9:1-41 SUPPLIES NEEDED Computer/tablet for video Jesus Heals a Blind Man coloring sheet BIBLE TIME Each time we have been in class, we have talked about Jesus helping others. He helped the sick, he helped children, he helped old people, he helped sad people. Jesus was always looking for ways to be a helper. This is the life Jesus lived! This is the life he wants all of us to live, to be good helpers. Today, we will learn about the time Jesus helped a blind man. Do you know what blind means? It means that you cannot see with your eyes! How hard would it be for someone to be blind? It would be very difficult. The man had never seen anything his whole life! No trees, flowers, no friends, nothing! When Jesus met the man, he felt compassion and wanted to help him. Jesus took dirt from the ground and spit in it and made mud. He then put the mud on the man s eyes. Jesus told the man to go wash his face in a pool of water. The man did, and guess what? He could see! Jesus helped the man by making his eyes see! The man told everyone that Jesus made him see! Some people didn t believe the blind man was healed. They thought he was someone else. He told the people, No! It is me! I was blind since birth and the man named Jesus healed me! The people were amazed and believed in Jesus and his power. Craft Recap: What was wrong with the man Jesus healed? He was blind, and could not see. How did Jesus make this better? He made mud and placed it on the man s eyes. What happened next? The man could see! Jesus healed the man who could not see. Teacher s Tip: Today s lesson calls for the computer. If you do not wish to use one, you can go on the GROW Pinterest page for more craft ideas over this lesson, or find a book in your children s library. CRAFT CORNER Arrival Activity: Set out a sensory activity for the children to play with as they arrive. It would be good to find one that focuses on sight. Allow the children to color their coloring sheets and place in binders. When they are finished, play the video from this link watch?v=uo9ilftvdhq After the video, talk about how neat it must have been to be able to see for the first time. 33 LESSON 9 (SUNDAY): THE GOOD SAMARITAN CLASS SCHEDULE 1. Welcome/Books of the Bible 2. Singing/Memory Verse 3. Bible Lesson 4. Craft Time 5. Snack/Prayer SCRIPTURE REFERENCE: Luke 10:25-37 SUPPLIES NEEDED Computer/tablet for video The Good Samaritan coloring sheet Bandage wraps Doctor s kits BIBLE TIME Jesus always helped others and wanted others to help just like him. Being a child of God means that you love others with compassion. Just like God and Jesus love them. Sometimes, it is easy to help others, and sometimes, we just don t want to. One day Jesus told the people about a man who was hurt and beat up. No one wanted to help him. The man had been walking on the road when he was robbed and beaten by robbers. They took everything he had and ran off, leaving him right there in the road! That s sad! A priest walked by the man and saw him, but then walked over to the other side of the road because he did not want to help. Another man walked by a bit later and saw the beat up man, and do you think he stopped? NO! He didn t! He didn t help. Then, a third man, called a Samaritan walked by. Do you think he helped the hurt man? He sure did! The Samaritan felt compassion for the man. He picked him up, placed bandages on him, and put the hurt man on his donkey. He walked the donkey into town and found an inn for the hurt man to stay in while he healed. The Samaritan paid for the hurt man s food, and shelter! The Samaritan knew how important it was to love all people and help whenever needed. Did Jesus live this way? Did he love all people and help them? He did, and he asks us to do the same! We are all asked to be good helpers for God our Father. Craft Recap: How many people passed by the injured man and didn t help him? Two! Who was the man that stopped to help the injured man? A Samaritan! What did he put the injured man on to take him to town? His donkey. He took the injured man to an inn, and took care of him. The good Samaritan was a friend to someone who needed help. We can help our friends too! Teacher s Tip: Today you have the opportunity to show a video. If you do not wish to do this, find a book over the good Samaritan and read it to the children instead. You can also have a guest come in and pretend they were the man who was injured to retell the story. CRAFT CORNER Arrival Activity: Set out bandage wraps and doctor s kits for the children to play with as they arrive. Pass out the coloring pages to the children, allow them to color, then place the papers in their binders. You can purchase small bandaids for the children to place on the injured man as well.
