2 New ImageExpressions Ministry 2013 Handbook What Is The New Image Expressions Ministry? The New Image Expressions Ministry is a ministry of worship expressed through the arts. Within the New Image Expressions Ministry consists of Band, Vocal, Audio, Lighting, Video, Multi- Media, Live Stream & Dance Teams. Together, as creative and technical people of God, our mission is to create a place for God to dwell. The bible says that God inhabits, or lives in our praises. So as we lift Him up, He comes into our presence and draws all to Himself. Worship is more than a thought of praise, it requires active participation. The expressions on our faces and the passion with which we worship inspire the congregation to participate with their own expressions of praise & worship to the Lord. When the body begins to worship corporately, we experience God s power to heal, deliver and move people toward salvation and their ultimate destiny in Christ. When taking the above into consideration we, the New Image Expressions Ministry Team, have an awesome responsibility. We are more than look good, sound good performers; we are worship leaders with a mission to create an atmosphere that God will inhabit. It is our responsibility to take the congregation on a musical journey. We literally paint pictures of God with our gifts and put Him on display as the main event... so that all may know Him for who He is, in all of His glory! 3 Requirements For Membership: Application: Each person interested in becoming part of New Image Expressions Ministry must complete and return an application. Interview & Audition: We ask that you read the Ministry Handbook thoroughly before your interview/audition to insure that you understand everything about Expressions Ministry, and the general expectations of all its members. After you have read and completed the Guidelines information packet and returned it to the Minister of Music, you will be scheduled for an interview/audition. Assessment Period: After your interview/audition, if we feel that your ministry gifts are appropriate for Expressions Ministry, you will be placed on active status with Expressions Ministry. Rehearsals: Rehearsals are crucial for the effectiveness of the Expressions Ministry. Promptness, attentiveness and regular attendance are expected and necessary. Come prepared and ready to work. We have designated the following as our rehearsal times: Wednesdays: Band & Vocal Team Control Room Supervisor All Technicians Sunday AM: Band/Audio Vocal Team/Multi-Media Dance Team Control Room Supervisor All Technicians Sunday Practice Band/Audio/Vocals/Dance/Techs 6:15pm 6:15pm 6:15pm Immediately after service ****Please note that if you are not here by your designated time on Sunday morning you will not be allowed to participtate in the service**** (see schedule above for your designated time) 2

4 Requirements For Membership: New Image Church Partnership: We believe that there is blessing in being in covenant. If you are not a partner with New Image Church at the time of entrance into Expressions Ministry, our desire is that you become a partner during the next partnership service. In order to accomplish the vision set before us by Pastor Eric and see the corporate blessing fall on this house, we expect all Expressions Ministry Members to tithe into this local body. Attendance Guidelines: Attendance: As a member of Expressions Teams you are allowed to miss ONLY one Sunday every 4 months That s 3 Sunday s per year Example January -April =1 Sunday May-August =1 Sunday Sept.-Dec. =1 Sunday You must notify the Minister of Music 1 month prior to your absence You CANNOT miss major holiday services: Easter, Mother s Day, Father s Day July 4th, Christmas etc. You are expected to attend ALL major churchwide functions You are ecpected to attend services even if you are not on schedule to participate Worship Service Absences: If an unexpected sickness or emergency occurs, it is especially important that you notify the Minister of Music or you Dept. Leader no later than 9:00pm on Saturday or by 7:00am on Sunday or by 3pm on Wednesday. Otherwise, it is important for you to attend all weekly services. Tardies: You are considered tardy if you are more than 5 mins late. Three unexcused tardies will result in examining whether Expressions Ministry is the area of ministry for you. Remember being late affects the ENTIRE team. You are inconsiderate of your teammates when you are late. 3

5 Leave of Absence: If an extended absence from Expressions Ministry becomes necessary, it is required that a Leave of Absence form be obtained from the minister of music. After we receive the completed form, your leave will be in effect. A Leave of Absence is designed to be no longer than 90 days. If your situation prohibits you from returning within 90 days, we ask that you resign from this area of ministry. In the event you desire to return to this area of ministry, you will be interviewed and auditioned as a new member. The Audition Process: * See Minister of Music or team member to obtain Guidlines packet * Set up Interview/Audition with Minister of Music * You may attend as many rehearsals as you wish before your audition * Prepare 2 songs of your choice, preferably different styles, and prepare accordingly * If using a CD for vocal audition, please label with your name, song titile and song number * You may be asked to play or sing scales * If this is a vocal audition, you may be asked to harmonize with Minister of Music * After your initial interview and audition, you will be asked to participate in a rehearsal * Minister of Music will contact you in person to discuss your interview/audtion and rehearsal time. You may or may not be placed on active status within Expressions Ministry. After your interview/audition, if we feel that your ministry gifts are appropriate for Expressions Ministry, you will be placed on active status with the New Image Expressions Ministry. If we feel your ministry gifts do not fit with Expressions Ministry, we will help you find another ministry to serve. Platform Dress Code: We have a casual atmosphere for our Expressions team however we do follow a color schedule. Color Schedule: Colors will be place on the Planning Center Website Monthly. When in doubt wear black. Some colors to include in your wardrobe would be: Royal blue, Red, Navy, All Black, Khaki, White, Teal Blue, Purple, Pink, Yellow, Brown, Green, Camoflauge and others will be added periodically. Planningcenteronline.com: Planningcenteronline.com is our main source of information and communication between praise team members and the minister of music. Once place on active status, your will receive an asking you to login to planning center and to create a passcode. Once online you can view and listen to and download music, see and print lyrics sheets and chord charts, view service lineups and see what dates you are scheduled to participate. There are online tutorials for planning center on their site. You, alone, can enable text messaging by going to the people tab, selecting your name and then check enable text next to your mobile phone number. Notifications of dates you are selected to serve as well as any important information is sent via planning center to your phone and/or . if you have any questions please see a team member or the minister of music for more information.
