2 Knights of Columbus Food Collection The Knights of Columbus in our parish would like to thank all of you for the food donations given in the past. Recently, the food donations have diminished as the need for these donations has increased. If you could bring one or two items to donate each week, it would be greatly appreciated by those who need it. Some suggested items: Canned vegetables, soups, gravies, tuna, peanut butter, jellies, crackers, pasta, spaghetti sauces, boxed mac & cheese, coffee, tea, sugar, coffee creamer, mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup, pancake mix, pancake syrup, soaps, shampoo, toilet tissue, baby foods, diapers, and baby wipes. CCD CLASSES 5-12 AND REGISTRATION THIS WEEK Attention Parents: Registration for New CCD students and Reregistration for all returning CCD students continues this week through May in Bishop DiMarzio Hall. Registration packets are available at the CCD table between 9:45 and 10:45 AM ONLY. In April CCD Classes will meet on the third and fourth Sundays: Grades 5-12 on April 26 In May, all CCD Classes will meet on May 17 in Bishop DiMarzio Hall for their final class to turn in textbooks and complete registrations. Robert Roedel who passed away on April 5. Fr. Roedel was a frequent visitor at Mater Ecclesiae and many parishioners may remember him from the early days. Cannoli Sale A Great Success! Thank you to Marianna Kane for another wonderful Spring Fundraiser! The Cannoli Sale brought in $2,300.00, which is the most our Cannoli sale has ever made! Thank you to all of our parishioners who helped to make this such a success. Catholic Apologetics Series Join us for an eight session apologetics class, on the first Sunday of each month continuing through May. Would you like to know your Catholic Faith better? Our new apologetics program using this DVD series by Michael Voris will help you learn and defend the One True Faith. Lou Rossino and Lou DiLoreto will introduce and discuss monthly topics pertinent to our faith, such as: The Church, Angels, Hell, The Rapture, The Mass We will be meeting on the first Sunday of every month from 9:45AM to 10:45 AM. This program is open to all adults and high school students. Hospitality Will You Pitch In? It s nice to snack and socialize after Mass each Sunday, but we could use a hand. Purgatorial Society Masses Purgatorial Society Masses at Mater Ecclesiae are celebrated one Wednesday evening each month at 7:30 PM (in perpetuity.) The enrollment is for deceased family, friends and loved ones and lasts for a period of three years (which equals 36 Masses.) At the end of three years, the decedent can be re-enrolled. Nursing Home Mass Mater Ecclesiae Council #12833 meetings are held on the 2 nd & 4 th Mondays of the month at 8:00 PM in the Knights Room. The Scriptural Rosary and Prayer for Vocations are said at 7:30 PM in the Church. New members are welcome. We can be sure that we love God s children when we love God and do what He has commanded. 1 John CAP Training Schedule 5:2 All Mater Ecclesiae parishioners who are involved in activities where they are in regular contact with children must attend a CAP training session. The Diocese requires all adults in regular contact with children to attend a CAP session once every five years. The Office of Safe Environment for Children, Youth and Adults arranges CAP sessions. The CAP (Child Assault Prevention Program) sessions are part of the Diocese of Camden s program of prevention under the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People. These sessions teach attendees the mechanics of reporting child physical and sexual abuse as well as bullying concepts and how to help children feel safe, strong and free. If you have not yet attended a CAP training session, or if it has been more than five years since your last session, please plan to attend. In order to plan for sufficient materials, the Diocese needs to know how many people will be attending. To register, please call the registration line at or ddiggons@camdendiocese.org. 6 The Mater Ecclesiae Pro-Life Apostolate will present a screening of the documentary Demographic Winter The Decline of the Human Family On May 17 at 9:45 AM in the St. Martha Room. The film explores the economic, social, and demographic context of the world s plummeting birth rates and the impact families have on the strength and stability of society. Walk for Life Make the difference in the life of a child! Join us for our third annual WALK-FOR-LIFE on Saturday May 30 at 9 AM at Washington Lake Park in Washington Township to support Good Counsel Homes for Single Mothers and their children. Good Counsel Homes were founded By Fr. Benedict Groeschel and Christopher Bell in 1985 to support women who are homeless and pregnant, with shelter, food, medical care, education, job skills, social skills, counseling, spiritual guidance, parenting, nutrition, computer classes, and so much more. With your help, we will be opening a new home soon in the Camden Diocese in South Jersey. If you cannot attend the Washington Township site, there are four other walking locations in Medford, Haddon Heights, Bridgeton, and Sea Isle City. Marian Concert May 17 Filiae Mariae & Holy Family Academy present their first Spring Concert honoring our Blessed Mother. The Ave Maria Concert will follow the 11 AM Mass on May 17.
