This workshop will discuss the role of the local SDMI Chairperson as a partner with the pastor in creating a disciple-making plan in the local church and give direction to various resources that can help. With middle school ministry, comes lots of adventures; so many things are impacting the world of young teenagers today. Each week they keep us on our toes as they try on different hats of who they are or who they want to be. Let's dive together into the world of a middle school student and how we can minister to them amidst the fun, fear, and chaos called youth ministry. Walking with another through grief is a sacred gift. This workshop presents suggestions, strategies, and resources to be a companion and support for the journey through grief towards wholeness and healing. As a worship team, understanding our role in our churches is a MUST. During this workshop, we will learn the importance of worship, how to lead worship, and different ways to develop a connection with the congregation. We will also address the various roles and expectations of the worship team that need to be clear to create a moving time of worship. Come hear about the powerful evangelical impact the JESUS Film Ministry is having on the people of the world. You will hear about the 471 JESUS Film teams working in over 120 world regions and learn about the 50-pound backpack that carries the latest technology, enabling our Field Teams to present the JESUS Film in remote villages beyond roads. You will also find out how you can partner with JESUS Film/Harvest Partners through prayer and financial support so the Gospel can continue to be taken to the ends of the earth. Rev. 2 118 Domestic Abuse in the Church The whole area of domestic abuse is very, very dark. It's a risk for the church to get involved. As Christians, we have a choice. We can choose to walk on the other side, ignore the issue, and do nothing, or we can face the ugly reality that domestic abuse is in our churches too, and begin to challenge and change the culture of the acceptability of abuse. NCA-NW will also have resources for Emergency Preparedness, Special Needs, Homelessness, and Refugees & Immigrants. 416 The Gift of the Sacraments 417 Walking the Journey Together Come and explore the gift of Baptism and Eucharist in the church today. 4 110 Grand Parenthood: More Than Rocking Chairs Whether you were as effective as you wanted to be as a parent, grand-parenthood offers all of us a chance to once again help groom a generation for greatness. Grand-parenthood is far more than rocking chairs. It is a second chance to do all the ought-to s and should-haves that the busyness and demands of daily parenthood kept you from doing. 5 412/414 Human Trafficking: The Myths and Reality Did you know that: There are more slaves in the world today than at any other point Rev. Monica Boseff in human history. More than 27 million are trapped in bondage. Human trafficking is the second largest criminal industry, exploiting men, women, and children against their will for manual and sexual labor. An estimated 100,000 children are victims of sex trafficking each year in the United States. This workshop will explore the myths and reality surrounding this important social issue and, more importantly, what we can do about it. You will leave with greater understanding and hands-on resources to help an individual or a church make a difference in this area.
