Matthew 22: Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

Many of us struggle with loving our neighbors and that is why we have not been loving them as God asks us to. 3. The way out of our self-focused approach to living and into an other-oriented approach is to deepen our love for God! 4. Loving God occurs as our heart response to God s great love for us. 5. Once we gain God s love for people, we begin looking for opportunities to share His love with them and actually enjoy doing so. 6. The true goal in loving our neighbor is not to get them to come to church, or even to believe in Jesus, but simply to love them as God asks us to.
Bottom line- Loving our neighbors with God s love is simply the thing to do and few things you and I will do in our life will be as important as this.
Hospitality The friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers.
Hospitality is all about making room in your heart and opening your home and/or yourself to another person so that they will feel truly welcome, accepted and loved.

The Hospitality of Jesus! Jesus turns water into wine. (John 2:1-11)
The Hospitality of Jesus! Jesus turns water into wine. (John 2:1-11) Jesus feeds the 5000 (Matthew 14:15-21)
Matthew 14: As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, This is a remote place, and it s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food. 16 Jesus replied, They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat. 17 We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish, they answered.
Matthew 14: Bring them here to me, he said. 19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.
The Hospitality of Jesus! Jesus turns water into wine. (John 2:1-11) Jesus feeds the 5000 (Matthew 14:15-21) Jesus dined with sinners (Matthew 9:10-11)
Who did Jesus dine with? Matthew 9: While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?
Why did Jesus dine with sinners? Matthew 9: On hearing this, Jesus said, It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.
The Hospitality of Jesus! Jesus turns water into wine. (John 2:1-11) Jesus feeds the 5000 (Matthew 14:15-21) Jesus dined with sinners (Matthew 9:10-11) Jesus widened the circle and kept it open. (Luke 14:12-14)
The Hospitality of Jesus! Jesus widened the circle and kept it open (Luke 14:12-14) 12 Then Jesus said to his host, When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. 13 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 1 4 and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.

J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring Frodo was now safe in the Last Homely House east of the Sea. That house was, as Bilbo had long ago reported, a perfect house, whether you like food or sleep, or story-telling or singing, or just sitting and thinking best, or a pleasant mixture of them all. Merely to be there was a cure for weariness, fear and sadness.

Next Step I will ask God to put my neighbors on my heart in such a way that I will want to share His love with them through my actions and words. I prayed with Pastor Scott to dedicate my home as a place that will be filled with God s love and where genuine hospitality is gladly shared with my neighbors.
