1 Saturday, 24 February 2018 Defining good and evil. L.O. To define the concepts of good and evil. I can explain WHAT GOOD means. I can explain the two types of evil. I can explain good and evil and link these in with key concepts such as conscience and freewill.

3 Deliberate immoral action, breaking a religious or moral law. Pain or distress caused by illness, injury or loss. Suffering can be physical, emotional, psychological or spiritual.

5 What do we mean by the word GOOD? Good is a relative term what I consider good may not be good for you! Is good the absence of crime / evil? Good is often linked with what is regarded as MORALLY RIGHT. It involves looking at the 8 Christian virtues and the 5 Sikh virtues. Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jesus and Guru Nanak are all examples of good / moral people. Are we born good people or is our good behaviour down to humans CHOOSING (using our freewill and conscience) to behave in a correct manner?

18 How would you define evil? You have 20 words or less!

19 Moral Evil: Actions done by humans, that cause suffering. A misuse of their free will. Give 5 examples of this: Natural Evil: Suffering that has not been caused by humans and is often to do with nature or the way things are in the world Give 5 examples of this:

21 Why do humans do evil things? Many people believe that humans have FREEWILL and can therefore use their CONSCIENCE to help them make decisions. Many religious people believe that God created humans with freewill (Adam and Eve had the choice to obey God).

22 Why do humans do evil things? When a person is so mentally unbalanced that they perform evil deeds, we must look at the root causes of their problem. Psychologists say We will nearly always find that they have been the victims of evil or abuse.

26 Saturday, 24 February 2018 What are the origins of evil? L.O. To understand the possible origins of evil I can explain WHAT the possible origins of evil are. I can explain the different theories about the origin of evil. I can explain how the origin of evil conflicts with a loving God.

28 When God created the Earth, he said it was GOOD! If God was so pleased with his world then why did he allow EVIL into his world?

29 Lucifer to Satan God created angels. Lucifer was his most perfect angel but was jealous of humans and ambitious. He began a rebellion in heaven and turned many angels against God.

30 By accusation, lies and deception, he tried to overthrow God and destroy Him. Lucifer became Satan (the adversary) and launched a war in heaven.

31 In his anger, God cast Satan out of heaven where he fell like lightning to rule over this world. Christians believe that here, Satan tempts people to sin then overwhelms them with shame and discouragement.

32 Lucifer the origin of evil. Christians believe that when God created Adam and Eve in his image they would be immortal (Live forever). God gave them ONE RULE which they had to obey ~ not to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge. Lucifer (a fallen angel)also known as the Devil / Satan appeared to Eve in the form of a snake and persuaded Eve to pick a fruit and eat it. This is known as ORIGINAL (1 st ) SIN. This whole event is called THE FALL as God and Adam and Eve fell out with each other. They were cast out of Eden and were no longer immortal, meaning that they would DIE (mortal).

33 Christians believe that there is a force of evil that goes against everything God represents. The devil exists to tempt Christians into the ways of the world, in order to separate them from God.

34 Satan can take on any form. Just as God is thought of as personal, Satan can be a personal supernatural adversary. Christians believe the devil is totally opposed to God and everything that God stands for. He is jealous of humans and wishes to destroy us using our own weaknesses and sin. He convinces us that our own way is better than God s.

So He should have created the universe in a way to avoid and
