The normal time for Baptism is Sunday afternoon at 1:00PM in the Lower Church. Please contact the rectory office to begin the process of scheduling your child s Baptism. PRE BAPTISMAL CLASSES Arrangements will be made to register for class after consulting with Deacon Bill Moser (215) SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION Saturdays: 4:00-4:45 PM Eve of Holy Days: 4:00-4:45 PM Eve of First Fridays: After 12:00 (Noon Mass Only) SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY Weddings may be scheduled for Saturdays at 11:00AM, 1:00 or 3:00PM in the Upper Church; at 2:00PM in Lower Church. Couples intending marriage are asked to contact our Parish Priest at least six months prior to the intended date of marriage. Participating in a Marriage Preparation Program is a requisite for the reception of this holy sacrament. SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK In case of serious illness, please contact one of our parish priests. Anyone unable to attend Mass due to illness may call the Rectory to make arrangements to receive Communion in their homes. Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time

2 Financial Information Sunday collection: (August 17, 2014) $8, Assumption $1, God s Plan for Giving Tithing is God s plan to support His Church. Full tithing means 10% of income to God. We ask half of this, or 5% for your Parish Church. Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time Peter was Jesus choice to lead the fragile band of apostles. In today s Gospel, Simon is given a new name Peter, the rock. In John s Gospel, Peter is called to be a shepherd. He is expected to lay down his life for his sheep. And tradition tells us that he did just that. But today we think about the durable rocklike quality that Jesus needed in a leader. Peter was appointed to his leadership position for reasons we are not able to fathom. God knows, and Jesus knew well, that Peter was flawed. We cannot mistake his enthusiasms, though, his manifest love, and his great, exuberant faith. Those virtues saw him through. They are durable, tough, beautiful virtues. They make Peter a sympathetic and lovable person. They provide us with the balance and humor that we need as we consider our own roles in the universal church. Each year the Catholic Church offers a program for adults who feel called to conversion to the Catholic Faith. This process usually begins at the beginning of the school year, around early September, and concludes at Easter time. During this period, men and women who seek to become Catholic will go through a period of learning the Faith in order to understand our Catholic beliefs and to make a well-informed decision about becoming a Catholic. Very often, a Catholic who has been baptized but has not received the other Sacraments of Initiation, Holy Eucharist and/or Confirmation, also joins the program in order to complete their sacraments. If you fit into this category or if you know a family member that does, I invite you to consider joining the R.C.I.A. Program yourself or invite your family member to do so. If you are interested, please call the rectory and leave your name and phone number and someone will get back to you with more information. This program is also open to anyone who wants to learn more about their Catholic Faith or anyone who would like to assist the program as a catechist. It is a great way to share your Faith with others! If you arrive early you may go to the cafeteria. Teachers, staff and student council members will be around to help you find where you should be. Dismissal is at 2:39P.M. (Romans 10.8) St. Paul says that Christ is within us and it is only through sharing our faith that He becomes real in our lives. As Catholics we are charged with the deposit of faith, which is passing our faith onto our children. Consider being a part of this great adventure by becoming a catechist or catechist aid.
