5 THE RAPTURE OF THE SAINTS Rapture (Latin: Raptus/ rapere ; Greek: Harpazo ) refers to the sudden catching up of the saints at the sound of the trumpet of the archangel. This term is not in the English or Greek Bible, but appears in the Latin vulgate for caught up used in 1 Thessalonians 4: I Cor 15:51-52

6 We believe in God s principle in judgment to take out His own before mass judgment: i.e Noah and family, Lot in Sodom and Gomorrah, The Jewish Christians before General Titus ( son of Vespassian) ran over Jerusalem. (AD 70)

7 It is the time for this event (THE RAPTURE) which remains a mystery. Once this happens, all the others are predictable.

Trajan: who began to make havock of the Christian church in the tenth year of his reign, as the historians do write: and his bloody persecution continued until Adrian the emperor had succeeded in his stead: The space of which time is precisely ten years, which are here mentioned.

15 Pergamos : The Church under imperial favour ( AD) Strengths: Holding fast to the name of Christ, not denied His name, Loved even to Matyrrdom( Antipas) Weaknesses: Doctrine of Balaam (The teaching of false doctrine and using spiritual gift as a means to financial gain), Nicolaitans (Teaching that Sexual freedom is covered in Christian liberty) OR nikao (to conquer) and laos (the laity)

16 Thyatira: The Dark Ages of the Church ( AD) Strengths:Charity, Service, Faith, Latter works more than former. Weaknesses: Dominated by Jezebel ( Legalistic spirit, envy, rebellion, false teaching and loose lifestyle) Readings : Rev 2:1-7, Rev 2:18-29, Rev 3:14-22, Rev 3:7-13 Sardis: (The Reformation/ Protestantism) AD Under Martin Luther

17 Sardis: (The Reformation/ Protestantism) AD Under Martin Luther and a few reformers Strengths: A few saints have not defiled themselves and so would walk in white ( Rapture candidates) Weaknesses: A name of being alive, but are dead Have not strengthened the things that remain and are ready to die Works are not perfect before God.

18 Philadelphia : The True Church (18 th Century to the end)

19 The roots of the true church The holiness club and Methodism. (George Whitefield and the Wesleyans) -Promised of an open door which no one can shut. -Credit: A little strength, Has kept the word, Has not denied His name. Reward: Ruling over all hypocrites during the millennial rule. Vrs 9 -Great promise: Vrs 10: Deliverance from the hour of temptation which shall come upon the whole world.

21 HISTORY OF PHILADELPHIA The name Philadelphia meant CITY OF BROTHERLY LOVE. It was formed by King Eumenes of Pergamos in honour of his brother Athalus who was so faithful to him, and was also his successor. There were many earthquakes in the city, but the people will just not quit; they would gather and rebuild the city. The major features in the city were TEMPLES. After 2200 years, the whole of the old city is in ruins beyond recognition. The only visible thing is the BYZANTINE CHURCH BUILDING.

22 Laodicea: The Lukewarm Church. This church cannot be easily categorized. They have accepted a very deceptive middle line where they stay in good works, mixing it with worldliness to suit themselves where necessary. They will be spued out of God s mouth.

24 Laodicea: The Lukewarm Church. All the things the master counsels us to have are from above. This, He say we should BUY. With what shall we buy?. It appears to be a trade of material things for spiritual, and a change in the way we perceive the material and the spiritual. God loves this church and wants to save it, but if the time is over, they will be spued out.
