1 Worship Themes SUMMER 2016 Monday Singing for worship and community (LW) Tuesday / / Wednesday Church led worship Thursday class worship Friday Community assembly (9am) At South Baddesley CE Primary School, our collective worship programme is based on our Christian Values and links to the promotion of British Values. The themes are driven by the Christian calendar of events and celebrations. To understand that for Christians Jesus is woven into prayers their lives and will be their closest friend. of thanks. Monday 18 th April Queen s Birthday 21 st St. George s Day Class Worship: (Learning) Find out about the Hindu festival Raksha Bandham; children can make a friendship bracelet for the class collective worship space. (Reflecting) Then choose one of the friendship quotes to discuss. (Responding) prayers of thanks. Encouraging one another: To understand that the Bible teaches us to encourage one another rather than to be critical and negative. Class Worship: (Learning)St. Paul was writing about friendship over 2000 years ago: Encourage one another and build each other up Find out who St. Paul is. (Reflecting) build a friendship tower, on a card brick, children o record a time when they have been encouraged, build a model of a tower with the ricks. (Responding) prayers of thanks. Card bricks. Monday 25 th April Supporting one another: To understand that friends can be relied upon and will do anything to help each other. Class Worship: (Learning) How do we support our friends at difficult times? (Reflecting) design and make your own friendship chain. (Responding) prayers of thanks.
3 Monday 2 nd May Making time for each other: To understand that our friendships are strengthened by spending time together. Class Worship: (Learning) Look at some of the artwork of He Qi, do you like it? (Reflecting) design and make your own dove. Write or draw a place on the dove you go to be quiet. Place the doves in class sacred space. (Responding) prayers of thanks. Monday 10 th May Budda Day Learning to Listen: To understand that listening and showing compassion are part of being a good friend. Class Worship: (Learning) What do we know now about being a good friend? Are all the quotes true? (Reflecting) Write short prayers/ phrases of thanks about friendship(responding) Share phrases/ thanks. Add prayers to sacred space. Monday 17 th May Pentecost Pentecost Knowing God s Presence: To understand the significance of Pentecost in the Christian calendar. To begin to explore the concept of the Holy Spirit. Monday 24 th May A celebration of our SBS Christian Values: To recognise our Christian Values in action. Half Term
