4 NZKWCTU invited missionary Ji Chul Jung and Mrs. Mi Ja Han during their sabbatical year in New Zealand. They heard the Temperance Work over meals afterwards. They showed some interest. Returning to Cambodia, they started the temperance work. Soon it grew to become Cambodia WCTU. It was registered as NGO at the Cambodian government by the help of Mrs. Mi Hae Lee, who heard the temperance work during her visit to Korea from Mrs. Young Joo Kim, the president of KWCTU. Mrs. Lee s husband was then the ambassador of Korea to Cambodia. Mrs. Lee supported the CWCTU, participating in the activities of the CWCTU since Many White Ribboners have cooperated in the birth of the CWCTU. Praise our Lord Jesus Christ, who loved Cambodia and has brought all together and moved each of their hearts to willingly serve Him. The joyful looks of the workers confirms that Kawon Apparel Company, led by a Christian CEO, provides a nice environment for the employees, as this lecture time reveals. It must have given them time off from their works to listen to the temperance lecture. Thanks be to our Lord for the Christian leadership. 7 8

5 The temperance lecture series goes on at high shools, universities, and at companies, in Cambodia. The more the CWCTU grows, the greater needs, there are of more well-nurtured speakers and leaders for the temperance work. For this, we see that Dr. Kyung Il Park Asia Field Worker, actively participates in the renewal and updating of the contents of the cyber education program on no smoking and no drinking which may serve as a convenient tool to train new workers in newly formed unions. Michelle Goh s Nepal Ministry has longer history due to her longer contact with the WWCTU. She already participated in the 38 th world convention in Norway in Since then she expanded her schools, from elementary school to college of music, and even a seminary. She sent a Nepalese student Moses of royal lineage to Korea, a converted Christian from Hinduism, who is majoring in music. During and after the recent earthquakes in Nepal, KWCTU sent relief funds. Michelle Goh is expanding the temperance work among her students and among villagers in the mountains. 9 10

6 The Secretary of NZKWCTU, Mrs. Brenda Seo, was a good friend of Mrs. Nanjoo Kim in Vanuatu. After Brenda participated in the world convention in Adelaide in 2013, she experienced much blessings. In the following summer, she visited Vanuatu and shared about the temperance work, wanting to plant a new union in Vanuatu. She earnestly desired to bear fruits in 2016, In answer to her prayer, the president of the WWCTU, Mrs. Margaret Ostenstad heard of the openness to the temperance work in Vanuatu and agreed to invite Mrs. Nanjoo Kim and a delegate of Vanuatu WCTU, newly formed, Mrs. Elizabeth Dorodoro, to the 40 th world convention. The NZKWCTU gladly financially supported Brenda s airfare so that she may be able to come to the world convention with them. Nanjoo realized for the first time after hearing the temperance work that the people in Vanuatu drink a traditional alcoholic beverage daily, called Baka, a juice from the palm tree. They can get it easily anywhere and any time. If they tap palm trunks or branches, they produce juice, which is fermented overnight, turning into an alcoholic beverage. Daily consumption of Baka may lead people to alcoholism, unless they learn about the harm of alcohol. Since Nanjoo is a nurse, she knows the consequence of frequent use of alcoholic beverages. Nanjoo found out that it was not at all an easy task to inform people of the harm of their daily drink. Nevertheless, if VWCTU patiently shares the harm of alcohol and the teachings of the Bible, the time will come, when every Christian will enjoy the health which our Lord Jesus Christ gives both in body and spirit to all who follow holiness in faith in His redeeming death on the cross and in His justifying resurrection from the dead. The photo on the down left is taken on their way to the world convention, after landing in New Zealand. Both Nanjoo and Elizabeth were warmly received by the NZKWCTU members at home of her president, Mrs. Young A Jung. Their active support has made the Vanuatu WCTU be born healthy and happy

7 Mrs. Yang Jin Kim had served as the former director of the KWCTU Child Care Center for 7 years before she went out with her husband Rev. Kwang Yong Lee to Senegal, a French speaking country, to manage mission schools. Their home church, Chung Dong Methodist Church is the oldest Methodist church in Korea, founded in the 1880s. The church founded a Methodist Church and Christian Schools and Kindergarten in Senegal. Mrs. Yang Jin Kim attended two world conventions of the WWCTU, one in the U.S.A. in 2007 and the other in Norway in She knows very well the importance of the temperance work herself, having also served as the president of the KWCTU chapter in Chung Dong Methodist Church. After having settled down in the mission field, she is prepared to start a new national WCTU union in Senegal. First, she had the temperance pamphlet translated into French. It will be printed by August, On her way back to Senegal after this world convention, she will bring the temperance pamphlets in French with her for her students at the school. She hopes that the teachers and PTA will also hear the message soon. KWCTU members still remember her faithful service at the KWCTU Child Care Center. Therefore, we trust that the Lord do the temperance work through her mightily, not only in Senegal but also all over Africa in the near future. Their school homepage address:

8 Rev. Jaeyeon Yoo and his wife Youngsuk Jeon had served to help the Muslim hear the Gospel in Morocco for 10 years. Now they moved to Wales, England to minister among the gypsies, while they pastor at Hanover Church which over 150 years ago sent Rev. Robert Jermain Thomas as missionary, who first preached the Gospel to China and later to Korea belonging to the London Missionary Societ y. Rev. Thomas dedicated his life early to the preaching of the Gospel to all who had not yet heard of it. While he preached the Gospel in Korea, he died as the first martyr 150 years ago. When we return after this world convention, we will have a memorial music service to commemorate Rev. Robert Jermain Thomas at KWCTU Hall. Are we ready to admit that we are sinners, and that we are totally depraved, unable to save ourselves? If we recognize our sinfulness and total depravity, and come before the living God with faith in His faithfulness and steadfast love, that is manifested once for all in Jesus Christ on the cross and in His resurrection from the dead, God will save us and give us eternal life now unto eternity. Life free from drugs and addiction is possible only in Jesus Christ. Life free from the power of sin and death is eternal life, Jesus purchased, by paying the price of our sins on the cross. May our Lord Jesus Christ alone receive all the glory, as Lord and God. Jesus Christ is the Lord of the WWCTU. Only by faith in Jesus Christ, We will be saved, and not by works. Only by the power of the Holy Spirit, whom the risen Christ sends, receiving from the Father, we can win in this battle against the power of sins and of addiction. The saving grace of God in Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, alone saves. Let us go before His very presence in humility and acknowledge that we are sinners, asking humbly for His grace to forgive our sins, by faith in the blood Jesus shed on the cross and in his justifying resurrection from the dead. The righteous shall live by faith. As Paul said in Romans 1:17. we alone live eternal life in His forgiveness Which He gives to all who truly confess their sins. 1 John 1:
