Much to his disappointment, Jesus answered, "Not seven times, I tell you, but seventy seven times. "Jesus, this seems like a lot of abuse to take from anyone. Forgiving, even once, is not easy for us. In our world we are told not to get angry but to get even. So when you tell us to forgive seventy seven times, please understand our problems with that. If that is your way, okay, but we will need your grace to be so forgiving. Once again, we ask for your grace to be ready to forgive and be reconciled. O God, come to our assistance. Love is an ordained elder and the Director of Vibrant Communities for the Baltimore-Washington Conference BISHOP EASTERLING VISITS ASBURY SUNDAY, MARCH 26 10:30 am SERVICE Bishop LaTrelle Easterling is the first woman bishop to lead the 233-year-old Baltimore- Washington Conference. She was elected as a bishop in The United Methodist Church in July 2016, and began serving the conference in September. 8 ALBERT DICKSON: A TRIBUTE TO GLORIA HAWKINS DICKSON I was blessed to be married to Gloria Hawkins Dickson for over 60 years. Gloria departed this life on Friday, March 7, She was a native Washingtonian; the older of two children, born to James and Ethel Hawkins. Her brother, Ralph, survives. At an early age, Gloria gave her life to Christ. She was baptized as an infant at Metropolitan Baptist Church; she continued to be an active member of Metropolitan until she joined Asbury. Gloria moved her membership to Asbury in 1962; Rev. Dr. Jack Foy was the pastor. Gloria attended District of Columbia Public Schools and graduated from Armstrong High School in It was at Armstrong that Gloria and I met. Not long after we started dating, I went off to serve in the armed forces and Gloria started working at the U.S. Census Bureau. We were married on April 19, 1963 at Inspiration House in Washington, DC. Gloria enjoyed a long and productive career with the Federal Government. She worked for the Commerce Department where she won several awards for outstanding service. Gloria ended her career at the Department of Transportation as Budget Analyst. A self-taught, extraordinary seamstress, Gloria learned to sew under the tutelage of a neighbor, and designed and made all of the bridesmaids dresses for her wedding. She loved designing and creating outfits for herself, relatives, and friends. Gloria also was an avid bowler; she won many trophies and plaques attesting to her skill. As an Asburyan, Gloria served faithfully in a number of capacities, including on the Finance Committee, the Committee on Nominations and Personnel and Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee. She was a tireless and effective chairperson and member of these committees, serving with excellence and dedication. In addition to serving her church, Gloria was engaged in her community. She was a Chief Election Judge in Prince Georges County, Maryland for many years and as an active member of the Gordon s Corner Civic Association. Gloria and I loved to travel. We decided to observe each of our milestone anniversaries with a significant trip. We visited Switzerland for our 25th anniversary; cruised the Panama Canal for our 50th; and the Mediterranean for our 60 th anniversary. I am grateful for the opportunity to have visited these wonderful places, but even more grateful to have enjoyed these experiences with Gloria. Marrying Gloria was the very best decision of my entire life. The years since her death have been difficult for me, but I continue to be comforted and supported by my Asbury Family. I have reached the point in my grief journey where the wonderful memories of my years of marriage and friendship with Gloria are source of strength and joy. 8

12 HOWARD UNIVERSITY MISSION TRIP Wesley Foundation at Howard University will be serving on a Mission trip to Honduras from May On this mission, we will be teaching Vacation Bible School and doing light construction for our church site. Mission trips can be life changing for students, as it gives them a sense of purpose and provides them with an opportunity to think globally and act locally. As we all know, obtaining a college education is very expensive and many of the students have trouble finding resources to finance their education. We are asking for financial donations to offset the cost for our students.
