I attended Charleston Academy in Inverness from 1978 until 1983, during which time I gained four SCE Highers in English, Mathematics, Physics and French. After several years working and doing some basic studies in the field of accountancy, I left the Highlands to begin university studies in Edinburgh at New College. I graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1991, and immediately began studies in the Free Church College, Edinburgh. Alongside my Free Church training I studied for a divinity degree through New College and graduated from both institutions in the summer of In August 1994 I was ordained and
2 inducted to the Free North Church, Inverness as Assistant Minister. Shortly afterwards I began postgraduate studies in New Testament on a part time basis through the University of Aberdeen. My PhD thesis was submitted in October 2000 and sustained in February I graduated with the degree of PhD in July In May 1996, I was appointed Lecturer in New Testament at the Highland Theological Institute, Elgin (as of 1999, the Highland Theological College, Dingwall) where I served until July As of 1 September 2005, I began work as a full time member of staff at Dumisani Theological Institute. Since 17 July 2006, I have been Principal of Dumisani Theological Institute. I am married to Jenny and we have three school-age children, Rachel, Bethany and Stephen.
