2 Page 2 THE REVIEW A Word From Or Bishop... t Joseph s athedral: On the weekend of April or annal athedral Restoration Appeal was lanched. While the final reslt is not yet known, I sense wherever I go, that there is mch joy and pride in or restored athedral and we are rallying in spport and generosity. Visitors are recognising the beatifl environment in which or athedral is located. The stylish cobblestones with their varying colors, the comfortable otdoor seats strategically placed and the simple effective shade strctre nearing completion between the athedral Office and Bookshop and the athedral. The third acred oncert was a marvellos aspect of or recent appeal weekend. We have a long way to go in raising the fnds for the magnificent restoration, bt each year and into the ftre, the donations will contine. One significant way has been the sponsoring of a athedral tone in memory of deceased relatives, and there are many stones still to be dedicated. ---o0o--- The elebration of Easter is a wonderfl part of or Resrrection remembering, and, as for every parish commnity and chrch throghot the diocese, t Joseph s athedral provided a fine setting for a welcome to new members. ongratlations to all who were baptised dring the Easter ceremonies and to all who chose to join or atholic parish commnities. At the same time, the nmber of infant baptisms seems to grow every year. Many noticed an increase in those attending the ceremonies on Holy Thrsday, Good Friday, the Easter Vigil and Easter nday. While not all worship every weekend, it seems to me that most atholics see Easter as important to their faith and life and choose to be involved. I have no dobt that or new Pope Francis, with his spirit of simplicity and hope, led many to rediscover the importance of Jess. The Royal ommission into instittional response to child abse is moving ahead qickly. Varios dioceses and instittions are being asked to present any records of child sexal abse, and or diocese has now been selected with several other dioceses throghot Astralia. It is not known whether every diocese will be reqired to present their story, bt we will do so with honesty and completeness, according to or written records. In this edition of The Review yo will read that Pope Francis is insisting that or hrch be strong in eradicating sexal abse in all its forms and in spport of the victims. The Astralian Bishops onference, together with the ongregation of Religios isters of Astralia, contine to affirm the aims of the Royal ommission, believing as we all do, that by bringing hidden isses into the light, children will be safer into the ftre. It is my hope that the findings of the Royal ommission will help to banish the sexal abse of children for all time, not only from instittions, bt from all of society inclding family life. ---o0o--- I wold like to conclde with some words on Evangelisation written by Pope Francis when he was the ardinal Archbishop of Benos Aires. His honest yet hopefilled approach to making the Good News of Jess, g o o d news for all, helps to explain why he w a s chosen as or Pope. It is not enogh that or trth is orthodox and or pastoral action effective. Withot the joy of beaty, trth becomes cold and even displaced and arrogant, as we see happens in the speech of many bitter fndamentalists. It seems they chew ashes instead of tasting the glorios sweetness of the Trth of hrist, who illmines with meek light the whole of reality, assming it as it is every day. Withot the joy of beaty, the work for good becomes sombre efficiency, as we see happening in the action of many activists who are carried away. It wold seem that they are cloaking reality with statistical morning, instead of anointing it with the interior oil of joy which transforms hearts, one by one, from within. ---o0o--- May we rekindle or hope as we move into the month of May, traditionally dedicated to Mary. It was the will of God that Mary accepted, be it done nto me, according to yor word. Or invitation is to accept God s will in or lives, inspired by Mary and strengthened by Jess. Resorces and material have been prepared by the tdent hristian Movement of India (MI), approved by the World oncil of hrches, adapted for se in Astralia by the National oncil of hrches, and is available throgh the Qeensland hrches Together. The Ecmenical Act of Worship highlights the message from the prophet Micah 6:6-8, What does God reqire of s? The worship takes into accont the Indian Dalit spiritality, which strives for jstice, loving kindness and walking in dignity with God. Another element incldes the se of drms. As we come together before the Lord in worship, we stand in solidarity with the Indian chrches. Hearing their story we ponder the qestion What does God reqire of s? Or enconter with the Indian chrches reminds s that the hristian hrch is a global chrch, a niversal chrch. The nity that we seek embraces the diversity of the whole hman race. The biblical message in Galatians 3: abot nity is that it embraces the whole of creation no more Jew or Greek! In or western world where people easily separate the religios compartment of their lives with the rest of it, it is easy to ignore the existential nity that shold be a sign of the reign of God. The Prayers of Intercessions which follow the Gospel story of the Road to Emmas (Lke 24: 13-35) are prefaced with the word walking ; Walking in conversation; Walking towards freedom; Walking as friends of Jess; Walking beyond barriers; Walking in solidarity with women; and so on. The worship service concldes with the blessing all s into abndant life, Trine God who sstains s as we stand together and call pon God. This worship service is jst one of a nmber of planned opportnities to gather with other hristian chrches. ome are distribting the prayer cards in all the chrches in their region. Bishop Brian conclded the ceremony with a vote of thanks to all of those who helped prepare the celebrations in any way and to all those who participated. An invitation which was issed at the end of the Mass for the congregation to take part in light refreshments at the adjoining parish centre was accepted by many and provided an opportnity for frther celebration. 6 Page 6 THE REVIEW MAY THEY RET IN PEAE R KATHLEEN HAWLEY RM AND R M PAULINU OTNEY RM Above: r Kathleen Hawley rsm Recently, within the space of a few days, the isters of Mercy gathered to farewell two dearly loved members ister Kath Hawley and ister M Palins cotney. On both occasions, family members, friends and isters of Mercy gathered with Bishop Brian Heenan and priests at Or Lady of Good onsel hapel, The Range, to celebrate the Fneral Mass for each sister. Kathleen Agnes Hawley, was born 31 Agst 1929 in Rockhampton to parents, Jim and Mary (nee lay). The family shifted to the Biloela area where Kath commenced school. When the family retrned to Rockhampton, Kath attended t Mary s chool (North Rockhampton) and Or Lady s chool, passing her cholarship examination there, before going to the Range ollege and then to Rockhampton tate High chool to complete her secondary edcation. Kath was a dearly loved sister of Patrick and Mary (both dec d), Jim, Teresa Agstine and Brother Vincent, a hristian Brother, and a cherished ant, great-ant and loyal cosin to her extended family. Following a very sdden and short illness, Kath died peaceflly at the Rockhampton Mater Hospital on 17 March On 6 Janary 1948, Kath entered the Rockhampton isters of Mercy, was received as ister M hristopher on 25 Jly 1948 and was professed on 23 Janary 1951 with isters Eileen Ring (dec d), armel O Dwyer and abrini Mary Lowe. From , as a primary school teacher, Kath taght at arina, Koongal, Walkerston, Barcaldine and Biloela. In 1958, Kath took p the challenge of teaching in or secondary schools which inclded t Patrick s High chool (Mackay), Mont Morgan, Or Lady of Mercy ollege (Mackay) and tella Maris ollege (now hanel ollege, Gladstone) before being appointed principal of the Lower econdary section of the Range onvent High chool. While teaching flltime, Kath completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of Qeensland. In 1981, Kath began her involvement with a ministry to the deaf commnity and to Mercycare, giving assistance to homeless and disadvantaged people and families. From 1985, Kath took p another caring role firstly, for women with special needs at Bethany, then for her own mother in the family home before her mother s death in 1994, after which Kath devoted her time to caring for the aged isters at Loreto. In her retirement years, Kath s enqiring mind embraced the challenges of Information Technology and ever the teacher, she encoraged, taght and shared her skills. Kath will be remembered for her deeply reflective and prayerfl spirit, her gracios and welcoming smile, her simple, qiet and nobtrsive manner, her keen intellect, her years of diligent teaching and her qest for life-long learning. Kath will be remembered for her dedicated commitment to the works of mercy, her attention to those who needed special care and an encoraging word. May the God of Mercy lovingly embrace ister Kath Hawley. Winifred Iris cotney was born in hilders on 11 Agst 1922, the forth child of John and Margaret cotney, and a sister to Alfred, edric, Ronald (all dec d) and Lenore (West Bndaberg). As her father was a sgar plantation manager, the family lived in rral areas where Win attended school in Gin Gin and later Givelda, before moving to Bndaberg in Win entered the Rockhampton isters of Mercy on 6 Janary 1947, was received as ister M Palins on 5 October 1947 and was professed on 22 Janary 1950, together with isters M cholastica (dec d), Andrina, Patrice, Gabriel, Anthony Mary, Angela and Michael (dec d). school and the yonger Range boarders were her special care. ister M Palins spent nine years teaching at t Mary s chool (oth Bndaberg) and then a year at t Mary s chool (oth Mackay) before taking p the challenge of being homemaker and cook at t atherine s Hostel, Brisbane where she created a home away from home for the stdents and isters who lived there. Greatly respected and loved, ister M Palins formed many lasting friendships while at t atherine s. After some years of caring for her own mother at home in Bndaberg, ister M Palins sed her gift of hosekeeping at the Meteor Park onference entre and the Mackay Mater Hospital before moving to Loreto onvent (Rockhampton) to care for the aged isters. In 1993, ister M Palins retired to Walker treet, West Bndaberg where she was a welcome and mch-loved presence in the Parish and neighborhood. In trn, Palins, a tre daghter of atherine McAley who made hospitality her greatest boast provided a warm and welcoming home to anyone who lived there or visited. For the past seven years, becase of deteriorating health, ister M Palins has been lovingly cared for in Rockhampton at McAley Place then Bethany Home where she died peaceflly on 21 March ister M Palins will be remembered for her deep faith, her devotion to the Echarist and Rosary, her years of dedication as a homemaker, teacher and loving carer, her spirit of hospitality and willingness to share her gifts, her interest in people, her ability to make endring friendships, her love of family and the way in which she prayerflly faced her own death. May the God of Mercy lovingly embrace ister M Palins cotney. 7 YEAR 2013 VOLUME NO. 4 PAGE 7 A nmber of centres throghot the diocese were fortnate to have the opportnity to come and hear Kath Evans speak of her miraclos recovery from terminal lng cancer in 1993 and how, conseqently, this was sed in the case for the canonisation of Mary MacKillop. Kath and her hsband, Barry, visited Bndaberg, Gladstone, Tannm ands, Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Mackay, Moranbah, lermont, Blackwater, Blackall, Longreach and Emerald. Those who came were inspired not only by the swiftness of her miraclos retrn to good health bt also by her spirital jorney. Of particlar interest was Kath s explanation of the intricacies leading to the acceptance of her cre as being miraclos and how it became a significant part of the canonisation process. Dring her tor, Kath and Barry also visited a nmber of schools in Tannn ands, Mackay, lermont, Blackall and Longreach, many of which had a connection to t Mary of the ross in their fondation. Dring her school visits, Kath focsed particlarly on t Mary of the ross and the work of the isters of t Joseph. 8 Page 8 THE REVIEW T BRENDAN OLLEGE YEPPOON - OMMITMENT MA t Brendan s recently held their Year 12 ommitment Mass which was led by Father Bryan Hanifin. This Mass was held to acknowledge or Year 12 stdents in their positions of school leaders for It was a time for the Year 12 stdents to commit to the yonger stdents of the ollege by helping them to aspire to be their best and to try to always be hristlike in their thoghts and actions and encoraging them in their jorney into the rich life of or ollege. At t Brendan s we nderstand that parents are the primary role models and edcators bt we mst also nderstand that it takes a village to raise a child. Therefore the Year 12s will aspire to be the significant older males in the lives of the yonger boys at or ollege when their parents are not arond, ths embracing the brotherhood for which t Brendan s ollege is renowned. GLADTONE - FIRT PORT OF ALL FOR MARIT UPERIOR GENERAL Fr John Hannan sm, the perior General of the Marist Fathers arrived in Gladstone directly from Rome on Friday 22nd March. We were his first stop as he came to visit the Astralian Province. Father John is from Ireland. He was elected in eptember He spoke with s abot the need to promote vocations and the case for the Beatification of or fonder Father Jean lade olin. On atrday 23rd he travelled to Brisbane to visit Marists and since Easter has visited Marists in ydney and other cities. KINDERGARTEN AND BLANKET BUDDIE Blanket Bddies was formed by Noreen Plath from Bndaberg and they have been knitting away for arond two and a half years now with approximately fortyfor ladies involved. On hearing of the opening this year of the new Kindergartens at t Joseph s atholic chool North Rockhampton and Emmanel atholic chool Mackay the ladies contacted the Diocesan atholic Edcation Office to see if they cold assist in some way in the setting p of the Kindergartens. They offered to make mini blankets for the Kindergartens and this then extended to Pre-prep as well. Arond thirty parents from across the Diocese attended the weekend and were privileged to hear a variety of speakers who spoke on a range of topics with the highlight of the weekend being able to attend Mass on nday morning which was celebrated by Bishop Brian Heenan. Diocesan hairperson, e Greentree said she was delighted with the weekend and especially wanted to thank Leesa Jeffcoat, Diocesan Director atholic Edcation, members of the atholic Edcation Leadership Team, staff from the Diocesan atholic Edcation Office and chool and TRUTH JUTIE AND HEALING OUNIL WELOME POPE TATEMENT ON HURH EXUAL ABUE Mr Francis llivan, EO of the Trth Jstice and Healing oncil, has welcomed yesterday s comments by Pope Francis calling on the atholic hrch to act decisively against chrch child sexal abse. Astralia is responding to the Royal ommission into child sexal abse. The new Pontiff said the hrch mst promote measres to protect yong people, help victims and follow de process to ensre the gilty are pnished. The hrch in Astralia now needs to be jdged on its actions rather than its words. Mr llivan said the comments reinforce the way the hrch in The Pope s message is consistent with the way the hrch in Astralia intends to engage with the ommission, Mr llivan said. It is also in line with the Astralian hrch s drive to develop new consistent policies and procedres to protect children in the ftre. 11 YEAR 2013 VOLUME NO.4 PAGE 11 HALOM TUDENT ATTEND UNITED NATION YOUTH QUEENLAND UMMIT Above: halom ollege aptain Hamza rbland pictred with Kevin Rdd Last month, halom ollege captain, Hamza rbland travelled to Brisbane to attend a United Nations Yoth Qeensland mmit in response to an open invitation for interested Qeensland secondary stdents. Hamza is interested in politics particlarly international isses that involve hman rights. It was here that Hamza had the chance opportnity to meet former Prime Minister and ex-foreign minister, the Honorable Federal Member of Parliament, Kevin Rdd. Hamza describes this meeting as a memorable experience with Mr Rdd s address to the stdents being inspirational for his depth of knowledge concerning foreign policy and experience. Hamza was able to pose a qestion to Mr Rdd and was impressed with the way he related to the adience. Also over this weekend, Hamza was part of discssions on topics sch as climate change, poplation growth, international politics and hman rights. He was able to participate in debating on UN model resoltions. Following this smmit, Hamza was now been chosen to attend the national UN Yoth onference in ydney in Jly. He was one of ten chosen from the grop of 130 stdents based on his contribtions of the smmit. In ydney, Hamza will have the opportnity to again visit Parliament; this time part of a larger grop of stdents from a national cohort. There will also be international stdents in attendance. This is wonderfl achievement for Hamza and has led to frther opportnities for him to participate in political forms at a high level. The fnd raising campaign, coordinated by Glover Hose, was lanched at the beginning of Lent with a hrove Tesday Pancake event and contined with raffles, competitions and cross contry sponsorship, held at the college. Each pastoral care class raised money throgh varios inventive ways to contribte to aritas. Mrs Perkins thanked the college for helping to improve living conditions and qality of life for people strggling in developing contries. In the past two years yo have contribted $ towards aritas, a sincere thank-yo, she said. Mrs Perkins also took the opportnity to farewell the college annoncing she wold be retiring soon and Mrs Therese Mcabe wold contine her work for aritas in the Rockhampton Diocese. 12 PAGE 12 THE REVIEW 47th WORLD OMMUNIATION DAY - 12th May ocial Networks: Portals of Trth and Faith, New paces for Evangelisation Message of His Holiness Pope Emerits Benedict XVI Dear Brothers and isters, As the 2013 World ommnications Day draws near, I wold like to offer yo some reflections on an increasingly important reality regarding the way in which people today commnicate among themselves. I wish to consider the development of digital social networks which are helping to create a new agora, an open pblic sqare in which people share ideas, information and opinions, and in which new relationships and forms of commnity can come into being. These spaces, when engaged in a wise and balanced way, help to foster forms of dialoge and debate which, if condcted respectflly and with concern for privacy, responsibility and trthflness, can reinforce the bonds of nity between individals and effectively promote the harmony of the hman family. The exchange of information can become tre commnication, links ripen into friendships, and connections facilitate commnion. If the networks are called to realize this great potential, the people involved in them mst make an effort to be athentic since, in these spaces, it is not only ideas and information that are shared, bt ltimately or very selves. The development of social networks calls for commitment: people are engaged in bilding relationships and making friends, in looking for answers to their qestions and being entertained, bt also in finding intellectal stimlation and sharing knowledge and know-how. The networks are increasingly becoming part of the very fabric of society, inasmch as they bring people together on the basis of these fndamental needs. ocial networks are ths norished by aspirations rooted in the hman heart. The cltre of social networks and the changes in the means and styles of commnication pose demanding challenges to those who want to speak abot trth and vales. Often, as is also the case with other means of social commnication, the significance and effectiveness of the varios forms of expression appear to be determined more by their poplarity than by their intrinsic importance and vale. Poplarity, for its part, is often linked to celebrity or to strategies of persasion rather than to the logic of argmentation. At times the gentle voice of reason can be overwhelmed by the din of excessive information and it fails to attract attention which is given instead to those who express themselves in a more persasive manner. The social media ths need the commitment of all who are conscios of the vale of dialoge, reasoned debate and logical argmentation; of people who strive to cltivate forms of discorse and expression which appeal to the noblest aspirations of those engaged in the commnication process. Dialoge and debate can also florish and grow when we converse with and take seriosly people whose ideas are different from or own. Given the reality of cltral diversity, people need not only to accept the existence of the cltre of others, bt also to aspire to be enriched by it and to offer to it whatever they possess that is good, tre and beatifl (Address at the Meeting with the World of ltre, Bélem, Lisbon, 12 May 2010). The challenge facing social networks is how to be trly inclsive: ths they will benefit from the fll participation of believers who desire to share the message of Jess and the vales of hman dignity which his teaching promotes. Believers are increasingly aware that, nless the Good News is made known also in the digital world, it may be absent in the experience of many people for whom this existential space is important. The digital environment is not a parallel or prely virtal world, bt is part of the daily experience of many people, especially the yong. ocial networks are the reslt of hman interaction, bt for their part they also reshape the dynamics of commnication which bilds relationships: a considered nderstanding of this environment is therefore the prereqisite for a significant presence there. The ability to employ the new langages is reqired, not jst to keep p with the times, bt precisely in order to enable the infinite richness of the Gospel to find forms of expression capable of reaching the minds and hearts of all. In the digital environment the written word is often accompanied by images and sonds. Effective commnication, as in the parables of Jess, mst involve the imagination and the affectivity of those we wish to invite to an enconter with the mystery of God s love. Besides, we know that hristian tradition has always been rich in signs and symbols: I think for example of the ross, icons, images of the Virgin Mary, hristmas cribs, stained-glass windows and pictres in or chrches. A significant part of mankind s artistic heritage has been created by artists and msicians who soght to express the trths of the faith. In social networks, believers show their athenticity by sharing the profond sorce of their hope and joy: faith in the mercifl and loving God revealed in hrist Jess. This sharing consists not only in the explicit expression of their faith, bt also in their witness, in the way in which they commnicate choices, preferences and jdgements that are flly consistent with the Gospel, even when it is not spoken of specifically (Message for the 2011 World ommnications Day). A particlarly significant way of offering sch witness will be throgh a willingness to give oneself to others by patiently and respectflly engaging their qestions and their dobts as they advance in their search for the trth and the meaning of hman existence. The growing dialoge in social networks abot faith and belief confirms the importance and relevance of religion in pblic debate and in the life of society. For those who have accepted the gift of faith with an open heart, the most radical response to mankind s qestions abot love, trth and the meaning of life qestions certainly not absent from social networks are fond in the person of Jess hrist. It is natral for those who have faith to desire to share it, respectflly and tactflly, with those they

Two years of conflict in yria has cased more than 70,000 deaths and for million people are now in need of rgent hmanitarian assistance, inclding 2.5 million people within yria who are now internally displaced. Jst last week, the UNHR annonced that the nmber of yrians registered or receiving assistance as refgees in neighboring contries had srpassed 1 million. In response to the crisis, the aritas network is providing emergency ARITA Astralia, the international aid and development organisation of the atholic hrch, is spporting a coalition of aid agencies, calling for all Astralians to sign a petition to help end extreme poverty. FOU (Facilitating Open ople ommnication, Understanding and tdy) is a self-diagnostic inventory (series of qestions) designed to help prepare coples for marriage, as it enables them to appreciate their niqe relationship, learn more abot themselves, and discss topics important to their lifelong marriage. One year mm boght a stationery set for Therese who thoght it too good for her so she pt it away for Mary s birthday. Mary was thrilled with the gift bt thoght it too good for her so she kept it as a gift for Paline who later gave it to Margaret. At this stage yo re thinking this gy is plling or leg bt no, when we were all gathered together to celebrate Mothers Day for mm, Margaret prodced a specially wrapped gift - the beatifl stationery set, that mm had boght for Therese five years earlier. That was the first they realized what had happened. We all enjoyed the mix-p and had a good lagh bt stationery sets have now disappeared from birthday presents. Members of the grop are still arond and on a recent Mothers Day we had a good lagh as I reminded them of the incident. A HRITIAN OUNTER-ATTAK affairs becase sch treasres need protecting. Unfortnately the lop-sided pblicity given to the negative aspects of or modern world get more than their fair share of attention becase they boost sales, pt money in the coffers, win votes, and in the short term help the power-hngry and greedy sections of society. However it wold be a disaster to believe that evil is taking over the world inflencing s to become discoraged and give p. Mothers Day is jst one example of how goodness, loyalty and love will win ot in the end bt or involvement is needed in making sre that the tre reason for the celebration is central to the day. The reasons for many of or celebrations are too noble and well established to be high-jacked by lterior motives. As hristians we are in a strong position to be leaders in a conter attack Anzac Day, Easter, hristmas, Astralia Day, Mothers Day, Family Birthdays and important occasions - all need protecting. We shold not be too worried abot other people straying from the real prpose of these celebrations. God does not expect s to save the world; we do or best in the small area of or inflence and then leave it in his hands. Jess had troble in keeping his disciples focsed on the important parts of his teaching and contrary to his teaching they wanted him to set p a kingdom of this world. In fact the whole Jewish nation of Jess time was looking for a Messiah who wold free them from the yoke of Rome and restore the Kingdom of Israel. Edmnd Brke s wisdom fits in well with these ideas and throws ot the challenge to s all: All that is necessary for the trimph of evil is that good people do nothing. 22 NEW FROM BUNDABERG EATER TRILOGY LARGE congregations gathered for all the Masses and Litrgies throghot Easter Week in the atholic Parish of Bndaberg, starting with Palm nday. t Patrick s hrch was then packed to the rafters on the Monday night for the Mass of Reconciliation. The Easter Tridm started with the Mass of the Lord s pper at Holy Rosary on Holy Thrsday inclding Father Terry tallard washing the feet of the pilgrims, the oils which had been blessed at a special Mass at the athedral the previos week being received and stdents of the for local atholic chools presenting their Project ompassion offerings. Good Friday services were held at Holy Rosary, t Patrick s and t James Bargara, while the Easter Vigil at Holy Rosary was another special occasion dring which five siblings, Abigail, Pala, Jacob-James, Elijah and Brandon Williams and sisters ophie- Lee and Haylee Brke became one with s throgh the sacraments of Initiation. Father John Grace came to or assistance to lead the celebration with Father John Daly and Father Marcel Kjr still recovering from illness and knee srgery respectively. The hrches were also filled for the for Easter nday Masses throghot the parish. Father John was pleased to be able to retrn to light dties a week later for the 5.30pm Mass where Allan Mole was welcomed into or Faith ommnity throgh the Rite of Reception into Fll ommnion with the hrch. many members of the parish and college commnity attended. On Holy Thrsday, Year 10 drama stdents, choir and Litrgy ommittee members recreated and broke open the Jess story to remind everyone of the tre reason for the season. At t Mary s, the Year even classes also reenacted the 15 tations of the ross in the Mlti-Prpose area. OUTHERN Region lster representative Donna Habermann and Katrina Thompson represented Bndaberg as the Rockhampton Diocesan Parents and Friends held their Biennial onference at The Haven in Em Park on the weekend THE annal Bndaberg atholic chools Race Day was held at Thabeban Park Racecorse on atrday 23rd March. A great day was had by all with plenty of fashion and frivolity. It was the first horse race meeting held in Bndaberg since the devastating floods in the last week of Janary and it really helped lift commnity spirits. It also helped raise vital fnds for halom ollege, t Mary s, t Joseph s and t Patrick s. It also ended a week which started with t Patrick s Day celebrations throghot the region. Vince Habermann At halom ollege, the end of a bsy term one broght everyone to the beginning of the Easter tory. On Wednesday night, their choir, drama and instrmental stdents re-enacted the tations of the ross. The beatifl ollege gronds formed the backdrop for a physical progression throgh each integral stage of the Easter tory. Arond thirty parents from across the diocese attended the weekend and were privileged to hear a variety of speakers who spoke on a range of topics with the highlight of the weekend being able to attend Mass on nday morning which was celebrated by Bishop Brian Heenan.
