3 FORT McMURRAY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL SUBJECT: CONSTITUTION ARTICLE I - THE NAME OF THE SOCIETY The name of the Society is FORT McMURRAY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL SOCIETY ARTICLE II - OBJECTIVES OF THE SOCIETY A.To attract parents who are willing and desirous to seek for their children an education which is directed by God s Word, and have these children trained to help them grow in a Christian life and worldview. B. To provide, direct, advise on and carry out a curriculum of Christian schools from Kindergarten to grade 12, based on the principles in our Statement of Faith. C. To acquire lands, by purchase or otherwise, erect or otherwise provide a building or buildings for educational purposes. D. To provide all necessary equipment and furniture for carrying on its various objects. E. In all matters connected with the Society, to carry on, on a non-profit basis, and to adopt and maintain by-laws consistent with charitable and educational purposes of the Society. ARTICLE III THE FORT McMURRAY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL STATEMENT OF FAITH The basis of the Fort McMurray Christian School Society is the infallible written Word of God, known as the Old and New Testaments. On that basis we affirm the following: A. We believe that the Bible is the only inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God. B. We believe that there is only one living, and true God who exists in an eternal trinity of three persons, namely, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe in the true deity and true humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father in heaven, and His personal return in power and glory to judge the living and the dead; that He is Lord and sustainer of all things. We believe the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, righteousness and judgment, testifies to the truth of the Gospel, indwells every believer, and produces the fruit of godly character. C. We believe the Genesis account of creation is to be understood literally; that man was created in God s own image and after His own likeness; that man s creation was not by evolution or change of species or development through interminable periods of time from lower to higher form. We believe that God the creator now guides and governs all creatures and things to the end for which they were created according to His plan and purpose. 3

We believe that man was originally created righteous and holy, and that as God s image bearer and steward, man s purpose and meaning is to be realized only in relation to God; that because of Adam s disobedience, he fell from his state of original righteousness, became spiritually dead, and separated from God; in consequence of which all men are now sinful and all are sinners not only by birth but by choice and apart from the enlivening work of the Holy Spirit, remain under the wrath of God. E. We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of God s undeserved favor through the mediation of Jesus Christ, who, by the appointment of the Father, freely took upon Himself the sins of His people and by His death on the cross made atonement for them; having risen bodily from death, He is now enthroned in heaven interceding on their behalf. F. We believe John 3:16 which says "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. G. We believe that by God s favor believing sinners have the righteousness of Christ imputed to them; that God accepts and declares them as righteous, pardoning them from the guilt and condemnation of sin, and grants them eternal life.. H. We believe that the only true church is a body of baptized believers under the headship of Christ alone, seeking to act in harmony with the Word of God. I. We believe that all government is divinely appointed for interests and good order of society; that the individual should consciously honor and obey those in power so long as they do not violate the teaching of Scripture; that the church, the school, and the state should remain distinct and separate as institutions. J. We believe that all people will be resurrected to face judgment at the personal, bodily return of Jesus Christ. K. We believe the purpose of Christian school is to help educate children for a life of obedience to their calling in the world as image bearers of God. This calling is to know God s Word and His creation, to consecrate the whole of human life to God, to love other human beings, and to be faithful stewards in their God-given task. L. We believe that the responsibility of the direction in education rests primarily upon the parents to whom children are entrusted by God. Since the Bible teaches that all life is subject to God s rule (Acts 17:22-28; Deut. 11:18-21) and that fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge (Prov. 1:7), Christian parents should continually strive to provide for their children scripturally-based teaching at home, at church and at school. M. We believe that in addition to being a believer in Jesus Christ and having accepted him as personal Savior and Lord, the teacher, should reflect at all times, by word and example, the love for Christ and honor of God, and at the same time exemplify high academic standards. 4

5 N. We believe that children as image-bearers of God are a heritage of the Lord (Ps. 127:3) and should be brought up in the fear and admonition of the Lord (Prov. 22:6). Students, having a variety of abilities, but being born in sin, are in need of guidance and instruction. This would allow the development of their bodies, minds and spirits to the glory of God. Their total potential and uniqueness should be taken into account when they are taught in a Christ-centered manner. O. We believe that Christian education given in accordance with legitimate (Biblical and Provincial) standards and provision should receive full recognition and freedom within society. ARTICLE IV - UNALTERABLE ARTICLES Articles II, III, and IV are unalterable. 5
