2 Page 2 Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time PENNIES FROM HEAVEN In conjunction with the Diocese of Orange Respect Life Month in October, Bishop Kevin Vann has designated Sunday, October 2, 2016 as our Diocese s 22nd Annual Pennies from Heaven Campaign. Since 1994, the Diocese of Orange has been collecting funds to support local Respect Life shelters, clinics and centers that give immediate and long-term care to Orange County women, men, and families in crisis. This year the proceeds will benefit the Obria Medical Clinics (Mission Viejo, Santa Ana, Orange, Buena Park, Long Beach & Mobile Unit), Mary s Shelter, Casa Teresa, Vietnamese Hot Line, Life Centers (Santa Ana, Stanton and La Habra), Precious Life Shelter and Horizon Pregnancy Clinic. This weekend, Ellen Roy, Executive Director of Mary s Shelter, will be speaking at all Masses. Please consider donating your coins and dollars to this worthy cause. You must have a card in order to receive credit. On September 13, 2016, St. Kilian Church was presented with an award from the City of Mission Viejo for being an environmentally responsible business. This Certified Green Award was also awarded to two other local businesses but St. Kilian Church is the ONLY CHURCH in Southern California to receive this prestigious award. As part of a state initiative to encourage businesses to be mindful of their environmental impact, St. Kilian is proud of its hard work in the area of environmental stewardship which includes a monthly recycling drive, a drip irrigation system, low flow toilets, use of reclaimed water, the newly installed LED lights and more. While Pope Francis Jubilee Year of Mercy will conclude on November 20, 2016, our community can look proudly on these permanent changes and know that our efforts did not go unnoticed.

Volunteers needed to support the 10:45 am session and re-open the 5 pm session. Volunteers do not teach but facilitate and encourage discussions about the readings and how they relate to our lives.
