1 Never let your Children leave the House Naked Pastor Eddie Turner Sunday, February 26, 2017 Psalm 127:3-5 (Good News Translation) Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a real blessing. 4 The sons a man has when he is young are like arrows in a soldier's hand. 5 Happy is the man who has many such arrows. He will never be defeated when he meets his enemies in the place of judgment. Psalm 127:3-5(NLT)- Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him. 4 Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior s hands. 5 How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them! He will not be put to shame when he confronts his accusers at the city gates. Psalm 127:3-5(MSG)- Don t you see that children are GOD s best gift? the fruit of the womb his generous legacy? Like a warrior s fistful of arrows are the children of a vigorous youth. Oh, how blessed are you parents, with your quivers full of children! Your enemies don t stand a chance against you; you ll sweep them right off your doorstep. Never Leave the House Naked. Rom. 13:14(NLT)- clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires. Rom. 13:12(NLT)- The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So, remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living. Eph. 4:24(NLT)- Put on your new nature, created to be like God truly righteous and holy. Col. 3:12(NLT)- Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Col. 3:14(NLT)- Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. 1). If I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior-I will not encounter troubles or difficulties. 2 Matt. 7:24-27(NLT)- Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash. - Having faith does not exempt us from the storms of life; having faith refuses to allow the storms of life to determine our destiny. Every storm of life we encounter has a purpose; to either destroy us or damage us. If Satan cannot destroy us, he desires to damage us so that our effectiveness will be limited. The storms of life will come but the Lord has given us armor and spiritual clothing to protect ourselves and our family, but we must put on our spiritual armor and clothing. Put on the Lord Jesus Rom. 13:14(NLT)- clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires. - What does it mean to Put on the Lord Jesus? Daily live with the awareness that we are born again children of God, no longer slaves to sinful desires. Maintaining a continual consciousness that Christ lives in us. Put on the Armor of God Eph. 6: 14-17(NLT)-Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. - What does it mean to Put on the Armor of God? -

3 Daily live with this awareness that: My foundation is truth; my identity is righteousness; my path is peace; my protection is faith; my mind is renewed and my weapon is the word of God - Never leave your house spiritually naked-put on the Lord Jesus and the armor of God Never Let Your Children Leave the House Naked In the summer, we want to enjoy the sun, the sand and the water; in the winter, we want to enjoy the snow and the ice-but not at the expense of our children s protection. - But spiritually we often allow our children to rush out of the house daily without proper spiritual attire. - Prov. 22:6(NLT)- Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. Prov. 22:6(MSG)- Point your kids in the right direction when they re old they won t be lost. The Psalmist refers to our children as arrows, weapons. Arrows are not meant to be kept safe in a container-they are to be released to make an impact upon the world. An arrow is only as effective as the craftsmanship in which it is made. Parents, we have a responsibility before God to craft our children in the image of God. We are the arrow crafters! How much time am I investing in crafting my God given arrow?

4 How to Ruin Your Kid s Life: 1). Give your kid everything he wants. Don t deny what will truly make him happy. Overvalue money and things in his eyes. 2. Dress your child in designer clothes, no matter the cost. Show her that her outward appearance matters most of all. 3. Place your child s needs over those of your spouse. If she cries, run to her immediately. If she interrupts, give her your full attention. 4. Entertain your child throughout the day. If she wants to play tea, put your plans aside. If she wants to watch her favorite movie for the hundredth time, forget your idea of going for a walk and getting some sunshine. 5. Sign your child up for as many extracurricular activities as he desires, even if it means giving up your evening plans on a regular basis. Don t worry about trying to gather around the dinner table either. He can only be in the junior soccer league for so long, and you don t want him to miss out. 6. Don t discipline your child when she acts up. Everyone should learn to express herself in her own way. If she demands something, then applaud her efforts. At least you know that she will not be a pushover or a doormat in this world. 7. Don t worry when your child fights with neighbor kids or even when he is a bully. Life is not fair, and someone always must be the underdog. At least your child is learning to elbow his way to the top at a young age.

5 8. When your child has a disagreement with her teacher, always choose your child s side. Don t show up when the teacher wants to discuss your child s problems. The teacher will want to take a course of disciplinary action and that ll hurt your child s feelings. 9. Don t share your faith with your child. After all, you don t want to offend. Let your child decide if she wants to hear Bible stories. And don t pressure her to memorize Scripture verses. She might get disheartened if she doesn t get it right the first time and you ll ruin her selfesteem. More than that, you don t want her to know there s a God who runs the universe, makes the rules, and determines eternity. The thought is too hard, and your child might not understand.
