5 Faith in Action Ministry More Words of Thanks From the Apache Catholic Community in San Carlos Your very generous donations put Christmas dinner on the table for over 100 families this Christmas season families who would have gathered to celibate with what little they had. May God bless you and your families as abundantly as you have blessed us. Thank you also for making it possible for us to purchase a van to pick up much needed items that are donated to the people in need on the reservation. Your support and generosity will make life a little better for families far into the future. God Bless you. Fr. Ignatius, Sr. Ruth Barbara and the San Carlos Apache Community ATTENTION - All Winter Visitors Are you looking for a way to get more connected to the Casa community and the wider Valley of the Sun? Consider joining the JustFaith Winter Visitors program. JustFaith empowers par cipants to develop a passion and thirst for a compassionate commitment to their church, community, and world. It prepares them for and energizes them in the work of social ministry. It has been used in over 1,800 parishes, churches, and organiza ons involving 30,000 people. Just Faith for Winter Visitors divides the 28-week program into two segments that can run from January May over a two year period. If you would be interested in learning more and a ending an informa on session, contact Pa Sills-Trausch at: socialconcerns@thecasa.org or call x130 Casa Builders Thank you for your generous contributions. They are credited towards making The Casa a full participating partner in Habitat. Until that status is achieved, St. Patrick s has generously invited us again to join with them in building a new home for a local family. Everybody is encouraged to attend the Wall Raising Ceremonies in 2 weeks on Jan 25. For more information attend the upcoming meeting or contact John or Patricia at: thecasahabitat@gmail.com Consider joining the Apache Fair Trade Crafting Ministry The Faith in Action Ministry continues to support the Apache Crafters in San Carlos and Whiteriver by selling their products in the Phoenix area. At the large December sale, more than $2,600 of merchandise was sold. However, most of the sales are smaller and take place at the FRC during the week and on Saturdays when there are large groups meeting at the Casa. Teams of 2-3 people work the regular sales. The shift is usually 3-4 hours in length. A couple of times a year, big sales are set up so the Casa community can shop. In order to offer these sales more often, we need more people to sell. In addition, we are looking at new ways to market the products. To be in this ministry you need to: Have a desire to learn the history of the Apache culture of crafting and use this knowledge to promote sales. Be able to set-up various craft sales and assist in braking down the displays at the close of the event. Be comfortable with monetary transactions. If you are interested, contact Patti Sills-Trausch at socialconcerns@thecasa.org or call x 130. We are hosting a gathering of all the Casa volunteers on Tuesday, Jan 21, from 6:30 to 8:30pm. Cassandra Jarles from Habitat s Central Arizona office will provide an overview of how Habitat for Humanity works and how we partner with them. Sign-up sheets for the upcoming build dates will be available.
