3 PARISH LIFE Page 3 TODAY S READINGS First Reading Second Reading Gospel Reading Exodus 22: Thessalonians 11:5-10 Ma hew 22:34-40 A Message from Father Don Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ: When you heard the Pharisee s question to Jesus in today s Gospel, did you already know what the answer would be? In answer to the question, Which is the greatest commandment?, Jesus quotes the law of love in two parts. First we must love God with our entire selves. Out of that love of God grows the love of others. We must love our neighbors with as much care and concern as we have for ourselves. Love of God is authentic only when we love our neighbors, especially the most vulnerable among us. As Catholics, we are called to live a non-judgmental gospel-inspired lifestyle. This week spend some time discerning this passage. What changes do you need to make in your daily life in order to love both God and neighbor? Ask God to help you nurture your compassionate heart so that you will become attentive and alert to the needs of those who are challenged in this world. Together as a family determine how you can love God with your whole heart, soul and mind and love your neighbor as your self.
