4 HEBREWS 4: Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens Jesus the Son of God let us hold fast to our confession.

5 HEBREWS 4: For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin.

6 HEBREWS 4: Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.

9 Luke 4:5-7 5 So he took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

12 What is the temptation?

13 Two aspects of temptation: a. The world

32 Genesis 3:1-6 1 Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, Did God really say, You can t eat from any tree in the garden?

51 How do you know what you are worshiping?

52 Anything in my life that occupies the place that should be occupied by God alone. An idol is anything that holds such a controlling position in my life that it moves and rouses and attracts me so easily that I give my time, my attention, my energy, and my money to it effortlessly. 63 Jesus knew the word of God: a. Jesus knew the consequences of worshipping someone or something other than God. b. Jesus knew that the devil was a liar.

64 John 8:44 44 You are of your father the devil, and you want to carry out your father s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks from his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies.

65 How does Jesus resist: 1. Jesus knew the word of God 2. By submitting to the will of God

66 Application 1. Know that the world and all it offers will never satisfy you, but will leave you empty.
