Patricia Farris Brothers and Sisters in Christ, from the beginnings of Christianity, baptism has been our entrance into the family of faith. We believe that baptism is an outward and visible sign of the grace of Jesus Christ at work in our lives. Through this grace, we enter into a special relationship with Christ, with each other, and with the church of every time and place. Those who receive this sacrament are marked as disciples of Jesus and are part of the fellowship of the universal Christian church. Jesus has expressly given children a place among God s people; it is a privilege which should not be denied them. He said: Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. We do. Rev. Farris On behalf of the whole church, I ask you: Do you accept the freedom and power God gives you of new life in Christ, resisting evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves? We do. Tricia Lindley Will you nurture Olivia in Christ s holy church, that by your teaching and example she may be guided to accept God s grace for herself, to profess her faith openly, and to lead a Christian life? We will.

Will you nurture one another in the Christian faith and life and include this child now before you in your care? With God s help we will proclaim the good news and live according to the example of Christ. We pray God s blessing upon you, your family, all who love you now, and those who will also come to love you. In your baptism, we renew our promise to faithfully participate in the life of the Church by our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness, that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. By God s grace, may you grow in wisdom and faith. May you always walk in God s ways, and rejoice in the knowledge that you are a member of the beloved community of God. Amen.
