1 Youth Ministry Internships Purpose and Benefit: Internships at Eliot Baptist aim to pass on the heart of service and the priority of applied Biblical truth in love to teachable ministers by providing opportunities within the church and greater community whereby Youth Ministry servant ministers may be trained, equipped, and affirmed for pastoral ministry. That s a fancy way of saying, at EBC, we aim to train future Youth Ministers to be the hands and feet of Christ, to make an eternal impact, to spread the Word and shine the light for all to see! The Church exists by God s design; it s His intended means of ministry; there should be no better place to learn ministry than in the church! Youth Ministry interns at Eliot Baptist will experience benefits outside the classroom: A working relationship with a healthy local church and diverse pastoral team that assumes responsibility for the intern s spiritual care. Practical understanding and training in essential areas of pastoral ministry. Practical understanding and training specializing in essential areas of Youth Ministry, by a Youth Ministry Pastoral Team with more than 20 years of experience in the field. An official church position, not for the sake of title, but for responsibility in ministry, offering interns the opportunity to apply what has been learned in the classroom in a supervised, real life, hands on environment. The opportunity for appraisal and evaluation of interns individual s gifts and calling. Exposure to Elder leadership, and unanimity in church body living. Exposure to the shared leadership structure among the Pastoral team at Eliot Baptist. Duration: [Jan - May] and/or [June - August] and/or [September - December] Compensation: There is no salary for this position. Hourly Requirements: Approximately 150Hours Detailed Description: Sunday Night Youth Groups- 4hrs x 4 meetings per month x 3 months= 48hrs Visitation- apx 5hrs per week x 3 months = 60hrs Wednesday Morning Pastoral Meetings- 2hrs x 4 meetings per month x 3 months= 24hrs Wednesday Eve Elders Meetings- 1hr x 1 meeting per month x 3 months= 3hrs Personal Preparation/Application- 1 hr x 4 meetings pr month x 3 months= 12hrs
2 Learning Objectives - Interns will grow in understanding, love, service and dedication for the Bride of Christ, His Church. - Interns will develop and strive to apply their own version of a Biblically based DDS (Description of a Discipled Student). - Interns will hone teaching skills via Hook, Book, Look, Took technique. - Interns will share the Word as God leads and as opportunities afford by preaching. - Focus continually of the basics of L.I.C.C.P.A.W. o L- create an atmosphere of Love o I- develop a positive group Image o C- Contact students, meet them where they are o C- Communicate Christ effectively by teaching and modeling o P- bathe the ministry in Prayer o A- effectively Apply the o W- Word of God to everyday life. Sunday 8am 12:15 pm Church services and Sunday School 4:30pm 6:00pm Jr. High Youth Group 6:30pm 8pm Sr. High Youth Group Internship Weekly Schedule Wednesday Weekly: 9am 11am Pastors Meeting: Discuss topics relevant to the life and ministry of EBC. Monthly: 7pm 8pm Elders Meeting *Office Hours as needed to accomplish ministry goals. 3 Internship Goals and Objectives To be set by Supervisor and Intern. These should reflect a level of responsibility and involvement that stretches the student s leadership abilities
