3 Introduction Why did God make so many promises? Maybe it s because he wants to show you how much you can really trust him. Maybe he is so interested in you that he is trying to get your attention with each amazing promise he makes, wanting to show you just how much you have to look forward to as you travel through life. This unique book presents more than 365 of these incredible promises, at least one for every day of the year. All these promises will come true or have already come true. You simply have to decide whether you want to be part of them or not. Imagine that every morning you could be inspired by a promise from God s Word and then live the rest of the day with either the expectation that God will fulfill that promise or the confidence that comes from a promise already fulfilled. 6 January 1 Beginnings Today s Promise This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17 Today s Thought New beginnings give you fresh vision and purpose, renew your energy, and stimulate you to greater passion in areas where you have slipped into complacency. The most important new beginning in your life is when you change directions and start to follow Jesus. When you believe in Jesus Christ, you are not simply turning over a new leaf you are literally re-created. You are transformed on the inside, which changes the way you act on the outside. You begin a new life! Today s Plan Have you allowed Jesus to make you a new person? How will that transform your thoughts and actions this year?

7 January 2 Vision Today s Promise My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, says the LORD. And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 Today s Thought Spiritual vision shows you a picture of the future that God has created for you. What do you see right now in the picture of your future? Is it filled with God? It s only when you empty yourself of your own plans and dreams for the future that God can fill you with his vision. It s only when you understand the extent of your sin, feel broken about it, rid yourself of it, and fill yourself with God that you will begin to see his picture of your future more clearly. Only then can you accomplish his work in your life and in the world. Today s Plan How can you see God s vision for your future?

8 January 3 Prayer Today s Promise The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers. 1 PETER 3:12 Today s Thought God not only listens carefully to every prayer, he also answers each one. God may answer yes, no, or wait, just as loving parents might answer the request of their child with one of these three responses. Answering yes to every request would spoil you and endanger your well-being. Answering no to every request would be vindictive, stingy, and hard on your spirit. Answering wait to every request would frustrate you. God always answers your prayers according to what he knows is best for you. Knowing that God always listens and answers should inspire you to pray continually, even if his answer is not always the one you wanted. Today s Plan How can you be more sensitive to recognizing the ways God answers each of your prayers?

9 January 4 Apathy Today s Promise Anyone who isn t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn t working with me is actually working against me. Matthew 12:30 Today s Thought Apathy can cause you to lose what you most value. If you are apathetic toward your wife, you are in danger of losing her. If you are apathetic about investing your money, you are in danger of losing your retirement income. If you are apathetic toward God, you are in danger of losing the priceless rewards that await his followers in heaven. Apathy often seems to be a passive force that simply lulls you to sleep, but it can also be an aggressive force that prevents you from keeping what is most meaningful and important. Today s Plan Are you in danger of losing something or someone dear to you? How can you protect yourself from the dangers of apathy?

10 January 5 Plans Today s Promise The LORD will work out his plans for my life. Today s Thought Psalm 138:8 Planning demonstrates your desire to use your time wisely and makes you a good steward of the time and resources God has given you. So make your plans but hold them loosely. You can be sure that God will give you new marching orders from time to time, and you must be ready and willing to adjust your own plans when that happens. God s plans for you are always the ones you want to be following. Today s Plan Are you ready to adjust your well-laid plans if God asks you to?

11 January 6 Challenges Today s Promise Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. James 1:2-4 Today s Thought Every day brings some kind of challenge. You may not rule a nation or run a large corporation, but you do face tough situations, difficult people, or subtle temptations. Some challenges God sends into your life; some he merely allows. Either way, they are often the tools God uses to help you develop spiritual strength and maturity. As you endure challenges today, you develop greater wisdom, integrity, and courage to face whatever will come your way tomorrow. Today s Plan What challenges are you facing right now? Can you envision how they might positively affect your life?

12 January 7 Goals Today s Promise Are you seeking great things for yourself? Don t do it! Jeremiah 45:5 If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. James 4:4 Today s Thought The goals you set reflect what is most important to you. When you set goals that benefit only yourself, you do so at the cost of your relationship with God. When you set goals that are pleasing to God, then you are truly pursuing the greatest of rewards. Today s Plan What are your personal goals? Evaluate the motivations behind them and the rewards you seek to gain from them. What spiritual goals can you set this week?

13 January 8 Control Today s Promise For the LORD is God, and he created the heavens and earth and put everything in place. He made the world to be lived in, not to be a place of empty chaos. I am the LORD, he says, and there is no other. Isaiah 45:18 Today s Thought Sooner or later we all face situations beyond our control. But even when you find yourself in unpredictable, uncontrollable, frustrating circumstances, there is still one thing you can control: your reaction to the situation. You can trust God to work in your life and bring order, hope, and peace out of chaos. Today s Plan How would fully trusting in God s control affect your response to uncontrollable circumstances in your life?

14 January 9 Acknowledgment Today s Promise Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. Matthew 10:32 Today s Thought If you want Jesus Christ to acknowledge you before God as one of his redeemed children, you must acknowledge him before others as your Savior and Redeemer. He will claim you on the Day of Judgment according to whether or not you claim him here on earth. Today s Plan Do you acknowledge Jesus not only in your heart and mind but also in public?

15 January 10 Conviction Today s Promise God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fl ed to him for refuge can have great confi dence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. Hebrews 6:18 Today s Thought To effectively live out your faith, you must hold on to the conviction that God keeps his promises. When you trust God to do what he says he will do, you will have everything you need to live confidently for Christ because he promises to give it to you. Today s Plan Do you believe God will keep all his promises? Do you know what he has promised you?
