1 PROP TALK A 1 st FEED THE BIRD Toy bird (1 per room) Toy worms (1-2 per room) FEED THE BIRD 1. Show the toy bird. Say: This little baby bird seems to need something. What does a little baby bird need from its mommy bird? 2. Kids respond. Say: I think you re right! The baby bird is hungry! It needs some worms to eat. Let s all pretend to be mommy birds and feed our baby bird! 3. Pick as many kids as possible to feed the toy worm to the bird. 4. Say Say With Me listed on the 5. For, ask Questions listed on the 1. 2 PROP TALK B HELP A FRIEND Before Prop Talk 1. Choose another leader who will pretend to be cold by shivering and shaking. Prop Talk 1 st HELP A FRIEND Blanket (1 per room) 1. How can we find out what someone needs? Look at them, ask them, listen to them, etc. 2. When we find out what they need, what should we do? We should give them what they need. Say: Friends, we re going to look for someone that needs something. We ll ask them what they need, and we ll listen to their answer! 1. Look around the room together. 2. Point out the cold leader. Say: Friends, look at cold leader s name! I think they need something. Let s ask them what they need, and listen to their answer. Cold leader s name, what do you need? Cold leader says: I m cold! I need a blanket! Say: Friends, did you listen to their answer? What do they need? 3. Kids respond. Say: We should give them what they need! And I have a blanket right here! 4. Wrap the blanket around the cold leader. 5. If time allows, pick kids to pretend to be cold and wrap them in the blanket, too. 6. Say Say With Me listed on the 7. For, ask Questions listed on the

3 PROP TALK C HAPPY OR SAD Say: Look at this. This cross is happy on one side 1. Show the happy side. Say: And it s sad on the other. 2. Show the sad side. 1 st HAPPY OR SAD Happy/Sad cross (1 per room) Note: Happy/Sad cross is a plain cross with a large happy face sticker on the front and a large sad face sticker on the back. 1. Why did Jesus die on the cross? Jesus loves everyone 2. What do you think is the happiest thing about Jesus cross? Answers will vary Say: Some things about Jesus cross are happy, and some are sad. I ll tell you something special about Jesus cross, and you tell me if it s happy or sad. 3. Read one item from the Happy or Sad List below. 4. Kids choose if the item you read is happy or sad. 5. After kids choose, show the happy side of the cross if it s happy or the sad side of the cross if it s sad. Happy or Sad List Dying on the cross hurt Jesus. Sad Jesus took away everyone s sins. Happy Jesus was punished for everyone s sins. Sad Jesus made me friends with God. Happy Jesus died. Sad Jesus came to life again. Happy Jesus died on the cross because He loves everyone. Happy 6. 4 PROP TALK D EMPTY TOMB 1 st EMPTY TOMB Tomb flip card (1 per room) 1. Where did they put Jesus body after He died? In a tomb 2. Why wasn t Jesus in the tomb three days later? God made Jesus alive again. 1. Hold up the closed side of the tomb flip card. Say: Look, friends. This is a tomb. It s a cave they put Jesus body in when He died on the cross. Everyone was very sad. 2. Make a sad face together. Say: After three days, the angels rolled the stone away. What do you think will be in the tomb after three days? 3. Kids respond. Say: Let s see if you re right! 4. Count to three together and flip the card to the side showing the empty tomb. Say: Wow! Jesus isn t in the tomb anymore! It s empty because God made Jesus alive again! Let s play again! 5. Show closed tomb picture, help kids crouch down, and count to three. 6. Flip card to the empty tomb, and help kids jump up and shout, Jesus is alive again! 7. Repeat steps 4-5 as time allows. Choose different kids to hold and flip the card each time. 8. 5 PROP TALK E EMPTY EGG! Before Prop Talk 1. Fill eggs with items. 2. Leave one egg empty. Save it to open last. 1 st EMPTY EGG! Plastic eggs (5 per room) Cross (1 per room) Nail (1 per room) Crown (1 per room) Pebble (1 per room) Prop Talk 3. Hold up the first egg and shake it. Say: Do you hear that? What s inside the egg? 4. Open egg, show what s inside, and use the Resurrection Egg List below to talk about it. 5. Continue shaking, opening, and talking about eggs until only the empty one is left. 6. Shake the empty egg. Say: Oh, my! This egg isn t making any noise! 7. Open empty egg, act surprised, and show it. 8. Say: This egg shows Jesus isn t in the tomb anymore! Jesus isn t dead! Jesus is alive! 9. Say Say With Me listed on the 10. For, ask Questions listed on the Resurrection Egg List 1. Is Jesus dead or alive? Alive 2. What is special about Easter? It s the day Jesus came back to life! Cross: Jesus died on a cross like this to take the punishment for our sins and make us friends with God. Nail: They put nails in Jesus hands and feet when they put Him on the cross. It hurt Him, and it was sad. Crown of thorns: They put this on Jesus head when they nailed Him to the cross. It hurt a lot. Pebble: They put Jesus body in a cave called a tomb and closed it with a big rock for a door.
