Bakas Increase your knowledge about our faith at our weekly Bible study class. You'll have a chance to ask Fr. John questions and engage in interesting discussions with your fellow parishioners in a casual setting. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to grow in your faith. Class is on Tuesday at 11 am in the Huffington Center. Last day of class is June 13. YOUNG ADULT BIBLE STUDY w/ Fr. 7 PHILOPTOCHOS VIP June is upon us and half of the year is gone. The VIPs have been very active the last few months. I hope we will be able to continue doing so. Thursday, June 21, 2018 we will be going to the Reagan Library in Simi Valley. The bus and the price of admission for the Library is $40.00, but your board decided to charge you only $30.00 per person and the VIP will pay the difference. Lunch will be on your own. There is an eating facility at the Library. Please make your reservations with Mary Morrison at Make checks payable to Philoptochos VIP and mail them to Mary Morrison, 1325 Valley View Rd #201, Glendale CA This event is in high demand so make your reservations as soon as possible. Please be at the church by 9:00 am as we will be departing from the church by 9:30 am and return by 4:00 pm. There will be no events in July and August so people can take their vacations. 10 PHILOPTOCHOS NEWS Our MAY GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING on Sunday, May 20th STRENGTH, CONDITIONING AND NUTRITION, presented by our very own, Fr. Chris Kolentsas was very well received and attended. The audience was engaged and involved in Father Chris presentation with his previous work experience and education in this field. Many questions were answered. We thank you, Father, for teaching us how to stay more healthy and fit! THANK YOU to GEORGIA KEZIOS and her committee for presenting the beautiful 2019 Debutante Ball Information Lunch & Meeting on May 20th. Many lovely young ladies, representing several Greek Orthodox Churches in Southern California, were present and enjoyed the afternoon. Interested young ladies who will be high school juniors and seniors, 16 years and older, should contact the Presentation Ball Chair, Georgia Kezios (562) The Debutante Ball is always an exciting and beautiful event for all families and friends! The SAINT SOPHIA PHILOPTOCHOS DEBUTANTE PRESENTATION BALL will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire Hotel. *Watch for an announcement about our next GENERAL ASSEMBLY on JUNE 24th and our BACKPACK LUNCHEON in mid-july* 9

If you are interested in joining our good works and philanthropy this is what Philoptochos stands for, then please send in your membership as soon as possible. Membership donations are a small way that everyone can do their part. Philoptochos chapters depend on donations to further the good works commanded by our Lord and Savior. Remember, we honor and welcome memberships from husbands and male friends as well.
