4 MINUTES OF THE MONTHLY MEETING FOR WORSHIP WITH ATTENTION TO BUSINESS 15th day of Tenth Month, 2017 The Spring Friends Monthly Meeting for Worship With Attention to Business met for breakfast and business at 9:30am in the Fellowship Hall on the 15thth day of the Tenth Month, Elizabeth Osborne, Clerk, opened with a reading of Queries from Raleigh Friends Newsletter. The minutes of Ninth Month were read and approved. The Treasurer reported on the Ninth Month finances, which report is attached. OLD BUSINESS: Cindy Perry read the Minutes of the Meeting of the Committee on Ministry and Counsel, a copy of which is attached. As a way of welcoming visitors or F(f)riends who have not attended lately, it was suggested that the Worship Leader gently ask If folks are visiting or have not been here for a while, you may wish to introduce yourself. There was no report on the building project for the Fellowship Hall expansion. Chuck Fager discussed the monument to persons lynched after the Civil War, and Judith Bush suggested using the word memorial rather than monument, since the current discussion of monument removal has a more charged connotation. The idea of this memorial is still seasoning. Chuck Fager suggested that the head of the NAACP be asked to attend our Meeting. NEW BUSINESS: There will be a luncheon benefiting the Friends Historical Association on at Friends Homes West. Given the importance of the Friends Historical Association, the Meeting agreed to make a recurring donation to the Association in the amount of $ Elizabeth Osborne brought forward the idea of a Spring contribution to celebrate the Audrey Muhanji s newborn son. The amount of $50 in a gift card was approved. Chuck Fager reported on his attendance at the recent Authority and Autonomy Meetings. Regarding our Meeting s concern about immigration and sanctuary, Judith Bush suggested that Internet connection was crucial to anyone in sanctuary with us. Ron Osborne suggested a hot spot. Additionally on immigration, it was noted that American Friends Service Committee has organized a 40 page report on helping undocumented persons. Judith Bush agreed to get us additional details. Ron Osborne asked for clarification if a person in sanctuary is protected only inside a building, or could walk about the grounds in safety.

5 It was announced that Jackie Adams and Christina Fisher have an Open Air Market in Siler City, which the Meeting expressed interest in patronizing (matronizing). The Meeting adjourned as the Worship Hour approached. Respectfully submitted, Cindy Perry Recording Clerk
