(Mark 1:9 WNT) At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan; (Mark 1:10 AMP) And when He came up out of the water, at once he [John] saw the heavens torn open and the [Holy] Spirit like a dove coming down [to enter] into Him. (Mark 1:11 KJVA) And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (Mark 1:12 AMP) Immediately the [Holy] Spirit [from within] drove Him out into the wilderness (desert), You can see from these scriptures that Jesus, Himself, was filled with the Holy Spirit. Mark 1:10 says, the Holy Spirit like a dove coming down to enter into Him, and Mark 1:12 says, the Holy Spirit from within. (1John 3:8 KJV) He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 2

3 Lesson 2 - Being Led by the Spirit (continued) (John 5:30 AMP) I am able to do nothing from Myself [independently, of My own accord--but only as I am taught by God and as I get His orders]. Even as I hear, I judge [I decide as I am bidden to decide. As the voice comes to Me, so I give a decision], and My judgment is right (just, righteous), because I do not seek or consult My own will [I have no desire to do what is pleasing to Myself, My own aim, My own purpose] but only the will and pleasure of the Father Who sent Me. (John 5:43) I have come in My Father's name and with His power, and you do not receive Me [your hearts are not open to Me, you give Me no welcome]; but if another comes in his own name and his own power and with no other authority but himself, you will receive him and give him your approval. (AMP) (Luke 4:1 AMP) THEN JESUS, full of and controlled by the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led in [by] the [Holy] Spirit (Luke 4:2 WNT) tempted all the while by the Devil. During those days He ate nothing, and at the close of them He suffered from hunger. (Luke 4:3 WNT) Then the Devil said to Him, "If you are God's Son, tell this stone to become bread." (Luke 4:4 WNT) "It is written," replied Jesus, "'IT IS NOT ON BREAD ALONE THAT A MAN SHALL LIVE.'" (Luke 4:5 WNT) The Devil next led Him up and caused Him to see at a glance all the kingdoms of the world. (Luke 4:6 WNT) And the Devil said to Him, "To you will I give all this authority and this splendour; for it has been handed over to me, and on whomsoever I will I bestow it. (Luke 4:7 CEV) Just worship me, and you can have it all." (Luke 4:8 CEV) Jesus answered, "The Scriptures say: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve only him!' " (Luke 4:9 WNT) Then he brought Him to Jerusalem and caused Him to stand on the roof of the Temple, and said to Him, "If you are God's Son, throw yourself down from here; for it is written, (Luke 4:10 WNT) 'HE WILL GIVE ORDERS TO HIS ANGELS CONCERNING THEE, TO GUARD THEE SAFELY;' (Luke 4:11 WNT) and 'ON THEIR HANDS THEY SHALL BEAR THEE UP, LEST AT ANY MOMENT THOU SHOULDST STRIKE THY FOOT AGAINST A STONE.'" (Luke 4:12 WNT) The reply of Jesus was, "It is said, 'THOU SHALT NOT PUT THE LORD THEY GOD TO THE PROOF.'" 3

4 (Luke 4:13 WNT) So the Devil, having fully tried every kind of temptation on Him, left Him for a time. (Luke 4:2) Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. (Luke 4:14 KJVA) And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. (Luke 4:15 KJVA) And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. (Luke 4:16 KJVA) And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. (Luke 4:17 AMP) And there was handed to Him [the roll of] the book of the prophet Isaiah. He opened (unrolled) the book and found the place where it was written, (Luke 4:18 AMP) The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon Me, because He has anointed Me [the Anointed One, the Messiah] to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity], (Luke 4:19 AMP) To proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord [the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound]. (Acts 10:38) How God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him. (AMP) If you want to become like Jesus, then you must do the things Jesus did. Jesus was filled with, controlled by, and led by the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 5:1 says, Therefore be imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father]. Study Questions for SECTION 5. (John 14:26 AMP) But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you. (Acts 1:8 AMP) But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth. (Luke 12:11 AMP) And when they bring you before the synagogues and the magistrates and the authorities, do not be anxious [beforehand] how you shall reply in defense or what you are to say. (Luke 12:12 AMP) For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour and moment what [you] ought to say. (John 14:17 AMP) The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you. (1 John 4:4 AMP) Little children, you are of God [you belong to Him] and have [already] defeated and overcome them [the agents of the antichrist], because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world. 5

SECTION 7 (Matthew 3:16 AMP) And when Jesus was baptized, He went up at once out of the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he [John] saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on Him. (Matthew 3:17 AMP) And behold, a voice from heaven said, This is My Son, My Beloved, in Whom I delight! (Romans 8:1 KJVA) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:2 KJVA) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:3 AMP) For God has done what the Law could not do, [its power] being weakened by the flesh [the entire nature of man without the Holy Spirit]. Sending His own Son in the guise of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, [God] condemned sin in the flesh [subdued, overcame, deprived it of its power over all who accept that sacrifice], (Romans 8:4 GNB) God did this so that the righteous demands of the Law might be fully satisfied in us who live according to the Spirit, and not according to human nature. 6

7 Lesson 2 - Being Led by the Spirit (continued) (Romans 8:5 AMP) For those who are according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit and are controlled by the desires of the Spirit set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the [ Holy] Spirit. (Romans 8:6 GNB) To be controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace. (Romans 8:7 GNB) And so people become enemies of God when they are controlled by their human nature; for they do not obey God's law, and in fact they cannot obey it. (Romans 8:8 AMP) So then those who are living the life of the flesh [catering to the appetites and impulses of their carnal nature] cannot please or satisfy God, or be acceptable to Him. (Romans 8:9 AMP) But you are not living the life of the flesh, you are living the life of the Spirit, if the [Holy] Spirit of God [really] dwells within you [directs and controls you]. But if anyone does not possess the [Holy] Spirit of Christ, he is none of His [he does not belong to Christ, is not truly a child of God]. (Romans 8:10 KJVA) And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. (Romans 8:11 KJVA) But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. (Romans 8:12 WNT) Therefore, brethren, it is not to our lower natures that we are under obligation that we should live by their rule. (Romans 8:13 AMP) For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [ Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever. (Romans 8:6 GNB) To be controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace. (Romans 8:14 KJVA) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. (Romans 8:15 AMP) For [the Spirit which] you have now received [is] not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing sonship] in [the bliss of] which we cry, Abba (Father)! Father! (Romans 8:16 KJVA) The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: (Romans 8:17 AMP) And if we are [His] children, then we are [His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him]; only we must share His suffering if we are to share His glory. 7

8 (Romans 8:26 AMP) So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance. (Romans 8:27 AMP) And He Who searches the hearts of men knows what is in the mind of the [Holy] Spirit [what His intent is], because the Spirit intercedes and pleads [before God] in behalf of the saints according to and in harmony with God's will. (Acts 2:3 KJVA) And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. (Acts 2:4 AMP) And they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other (different, foreign) languages (tongues), as the Spirit kept giving them clear and loud expression [in each tongue in appropriate words]. (Acts 2:5 KJVA) And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. (Acts 2:6 KJVA) Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. (Acts 2:7 KJVA) And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? (Acts 2:8 KJVA) And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? (Acts 2:9 KJVA) Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, (Acts 2:10 KJVA) Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, (Acts 2:11 KJVA) Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. (1 Corinthians 14:2 AMP) For one who speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not to men but to God, for no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things [not obvious to the understanding]. (1 Corinthians 14:4 AMP) He who speaks in a [strange] tongue edifies and improves himself, but he who prophesies [interpreting the divine will and purpose and teaching with inspiration] edifies and improves the church and promotes growth [in Christian wisdom, piety, holiness, and happiness]. (Jude 1:20 AMP) But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit; 9

SECTION 9 (Ephesians 1:17 AMP) [For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him, (Ephesians 1:18 AMP) By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones), (Ephesians 1:19 AMP) And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength, (Ephesians 1:20 KJVA) Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, (Ephesians 1:21 KJVA) Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: (Ephesians 1:22 KJVA) And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, (Ephesians 1:23 AMP) Which is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills all in all [for in that body lives the full measure of Him Who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself]. (Ephesians 3:14 KJVA) For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (Ephesians 3:15 KJVA) Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, (Ephesians 3:16 AMP) May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [ Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality]. (Ephesians 3:17 AMP) May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love, 10

11 Lesson 2 - Being Led by the Spirit (continued) (Ephesians 3:18 KJVA) May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; (Ephesians 3:19 AMP) [That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]! (Colossians 1:9 AMP) For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it, have not ceased to pray and make [special] request for you, [asking] that you may be filled with the full (deep and clear) knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom [in comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God] and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things-- (Colossians 1:10 AMP) That you may walk (live and conduct yourselves) in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him and desiring to please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing and increasing in and by the knowledge of God [with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight, acquaintance, and recognition]. If you have not yet been filled with the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues, and would like to, please pray the prayer and invite the Holy Spirit to fill you with Himself. Heavenly Father, Your Word says, "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?" (Luke 11:13) and Jesus commanded that we wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit and that we will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon us (Acts 1:8). I'm asking You, Heavenly Father, in the Name of Jesus, to fill me with the Holy Spirit and power. Holy Spirit, make Yourself alive in me now as I praise God. I expect to speak with other tongues as You give me utterance of them (Acts 2:4; Mark 16:17). I praise You for filling me with the Holy Spirit and I will speak those words and syllables I receive that are not in my own language, but that are in the language given to me by the Holy Spirit. I realize that I have to use my own voice, because the Holy Spirit will not force me to speak them. I am now a Spirit-filled believer. And I am clothed with power from on high to do the work of the Lord. I will continue to pray in tongues every day because speaking in tongues edifies and strengthens my spirit. (1 Corinthians 14:2, 4) Thank you, Amen (So be it). 11

12 Now use your voice and speak those syllables that you hear deep down inside of you. You can do it quietly at first until you get used to hearing yourself pray in unknown tongues. This is your heavenly language much like a language like Spanish or French, but this is your spirit talking directly to the Holy Spirit to receive Wisdom, Power, and revelation from Him. Speaking in your heavenly language is also a weapon that you can use against the enemy of God, the devil. He can not withstand this weapon used on him, and he will flee.
