2 43Just as he was speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, appeared. With him was a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders. 44Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: The one I kiss is the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard. 45Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, Rabbi! and kissed him. 46The men seized Jesus and arrested him. Mark 14:43-46

3 1. Judas. 13Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. 14He appointed twelve designating them apostles that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach 15and to have authority to drive out demons. 16These are the twelve he appointed:.. 19and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. Mark 3:13-16, 19

4 1When he had finished praying, Jesus left with his disciples and crossed the Kidron Valley. On the other side there was an olive grove, and he and his disciples went into it. 2Now Judas, who betrayed him, knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with his disciples. 3So Judas came to the grove, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons. John 18:1-3

5 67 You do not want to leave too, do you? Jesus asked the Twelve. 68Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God. 70Then Jesus replied, Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil! 71(He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him.) John 6:67-71

6 12If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were raising himself against me, I could hide from him. 13But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, 14with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship as we walked with the throng at the house Psalm 55:12-14 of God. 9Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me. Psalm 41:9

7 1After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you... 12While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled. John 17:1, 12

8 14Then one of the Twelve the one called Judas Iscariot went to the chief priests 15and asked, What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you? So they counted out for him thirty silver coins. 16From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over. Matthew 26:14-16

9 Jesus answered, It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish. Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon. 27As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. What you are about to do, do quickly, Jesus told him, 28but no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him. 29Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the Feast, or to give something to the poor. 30As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night. John 13:21b, 26-30

10 4But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 Why wasn t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year s wages. 6He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it. John 12:4-6

11 3When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders. 4 I have sinned, he said, for I have betrayed innocent blood. What is that to us? they replied. That s your responsibility. 5So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself. Matthew 27:3-5

12 8Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little while 9yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. 10Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 2 Corinthians 7:8-10

13 15In those days Peter stood up among the believers (a group numbering about a hundred and twenty) 16and said, Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through the mouth of David concerning Judas, who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus 17he was one of our number and shared in this ministry. 18(With the reward he got for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out. Acts 1:15-18

14 19Everyone in Jerusalem heard about this, so they called that field in their language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.) 20 For, said Peter, it is written in the book of Psalms, May his place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in it, and, May another take his place of leadership. Matthew 27:3-5 Psalm 69:25 Psalm 109:8

Peter. 47Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. 48 Am I leading a rebellion, said Jesus, that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? 49Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled. Mark 14:47-49

16 3So Judas came to the grove, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons. 4Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, Who is it you want? 5 Jesus of Nazareth, they replied. I am he, Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.) 6When Jesus said, I am he, they drew back and fell to the ground. John 18:3-6

17 7Again he asked them, Who is it you want? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. 8 I told you that I am he, Jesus answered. If you are looking for me, then let these men go. 9This happened so that the words he had spoken would be fulfilled: I have not lost one of those you gave me. 10Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant s name was Malchus.) 11Jesus commanded Peter, Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me? John 18:7-11

18 Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him. 51With that, one of Jesus companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. 52 Put your sword back in its place, Jesus said to him, for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. 53Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? 54But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way? Matthew 26:50b-54

20 27 You will all fall away, Jesus told them, for it is written: I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered. Mark 14:27

21 44He said to them, This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms. 45Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46He told them, This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48You are witnesses of these things. Luke 24:44-48

22 1. Judas. 2. Peter. 3. The Disciples. 4. A Young Man. 51A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, 52he fled naked, leaving his garment behind. Mark 14:501-51

23 13So he sent two of his disciples, telling them, Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. 14Say to the owner of the house he enters, The Teacher asks: Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples? 15He will show you a large upper room, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us Mark 14:13-15 there.

24 12When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were Acts 12:12 praying. 30As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night. John 13:30
