John 3:16 Getting Started 10 min Getting Started: Welcome As the children arrive, greet each one and welcome him or her with a smile. Allow the children to choose a free play station for the first ten minut. At 10 minut after service start let the children know in 1 minute you will start cleaning up. Free Play Stations: 1. Toys 2. Books 3. Paper/ Crayons Start clean up time with the clean up song: Say, I Am! (tune of If You re Happy and You Know it ) Teachers: Prepare you class for Community Time. Worship 8-10 Minut Community Time: Worship Lead the kids in 2-3 of the following songs (see attached song sheet for direction if needed) Song Sheet Jus Lov Me Jus Lov the Little Children This Little Light of Mine I ve Got the Joy

2 Lson min Community Time: Lson Place the puppet (Theo) somewhere near where you will be sitting so the children can easily see him. Bible Bookmarked to John 4: 5-42 *Theo Puppet Open your Bible to John 4 and show the children the words. LL: Welcome everyone! Hello, Theo. It is good to see you all at church today. * A bag for Theo to hold a few pictur in (not see through) Theo: Good morning, everyone. It is great to be here. What are we learning about today? LL: Today s Bible Story tells us that Jus brings life. There was once a woman who was very thirsty. She went to the well to get a drink. Jus was standing by the well, and he know the woman was thirsty. Do any of you ever get thirsty? Theo: Oh, I do! I get thirsty all the time. I usually bring this special bag with me just in case. *Picture of orange juice, apple juice, chocolate milk, and water *Picture of Jus LL: What is in your bag? Theo: Oh, I have a lot of good things in my bag today. I brought (Make Theo rummage through the bag and pull out one drink at a time) Aha! Orange juice! Boys and girls, if you like orange juice, tap your head. Wow! Me too! Ok, I also have chocolate milk. If you like chocolate milk, stand on one food and then sit back down. Oh, me too! Oh, here is some water. If you like water, clap 3 tim. Yep, me too! One more thing apple juice. If you lie apple juice, tap your tummy. Yumm! LL: Wow, Theo, You have a lot of good things to drink in your bag! But the things will not fill you up forever. After you finish them, you will probably be thirsty again. Jus knew that the woman at the well was sad and she needed more than a drink to fill her up forever. I winder what the woman at the well found that filled her up with life forever? See if you can gus by my picture. Hold up the picture of Jus so everyone can see. Allow then time to gus. You are right, it was Jus! Jus gave her new life! Jus gave the woman at the well much more than just water. Jus gave her new life. The woman at the well learned that if she had Jus, she would always ne alive. The woman was so happy to know that Jus bring life, that she went to tell everyone she knew!.

3 Theo: Wow! What a great story! I am going to tell it to my friend right now! Bye, everyone! Let the kids say goodbye to Theo and then dismiss class one at a time to go back to their rooms. Circle Time min Circle Time: Key Verse Activity Have the children form a circle and sit down. Open your Bible to John 3:16 Bible: Bookmarked to John 3:16 Lead the children in singing The B- I- B- L- E. This will be sung each week right before the Key Verse activity. LL: Our Key Verse from the Bible says, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believ in him shall not perish but have eternal life. This means that God loved the world and us so much that he gave his Son, Jus, so we can live forever in heaven. Let s say the verse together. Lead the children in repeating the verse. Let s do a chant together to help us remember this verse. Help children form a line (they can put their hands on the shoulder of the child in front of them if it is easier). Lead the children in marching around the classroom in a line. As you march, chant the key verse (like the military cadence) below and have the children repeat.

Children: Shall not perish but have eternal life! Repeat as many tim as you wish. LL: God lov us to talk to him and he is never too busy to hear our prayers. He lov us more than anything! He gave us Jus! No matter where we are or what we are doing, we can always pray and talk to God. Center 20 Minut Center: Water Pictur Before class, use the cross stencil to trace and cut out a cross from white construction paper for each child in your room. Before Children Arrive: Have your watercolor table(s) covered with the plastic table cover before children arrive so it is ready for you. Place Verse Sticker and Write child s name on each cross before they begin painting, since they won t dry before the children leave. Set watercolor paints, brush, and paper cross out on tabl. The children will use the water colors to make a beautiful picture on their cross. As the children are working, remind them of the Bible Story today. The woman at the well went for water, but ended up receiving Jus! Tell the children that the cross reprent Jus coming to earth to save us and give us life forever. We are coloring with water color paint to remind us of the water in the well. Materials *1 large cross stencil- cardboard or cardstock stencil is fine. The stencil should fit the size of a 9x12 sheet of construction paper 1 sheet of white construction paper per child Water color paints 1 brush per

5 Snack *Can be a center if you prefer 10 minut Closing 10 Minut Snack Prepare the snack for the children. Take time to stop and pray before the children eat. This is also a good time to ask children if they need to go to the rtroom. Start clean up time with the clean up song: Say, I Am! (tune of If You re Happy and You Know it ) child paper cups for water (paints) Plastic table cloths to cover the water coloring table. Gold Fish Crackers Water/Cups Paper Towels/Napkin s Gather everyone for closing at your classrooms circle. Bring your center project to circle. LL: Who were the people in our story today? What did they do for God? Hold up the Water Picture project. When we see our water pictur, we can remember our Bible Story. Jus is our way to heaven. He giv us life in heaven. Let s pray together. Dear God, Thank you for giving me life in heaven forever. Amen.
