1 11 Steps to becoming a Living Sacrafice A Living Sacrifice to God 12 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.2 Don t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. 3 Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. 4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5 so it is with Christ s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. 6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. 9 Don t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. 10 Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. 11 Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.12 Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. 13 When God s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you. Don t curse them; pray that God will bless them. 15 Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with each other. Don t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don t think you know it all! 17 Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. 18 Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. 19 Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, I will take revenge;i will pay them back, says the LORD.20 Instead, If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads. 21 Don t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good. Romans 12:1-21 (NLT)
2 1. I Plead with you to give your bodies to the Lord, for all He has done for you. Plead: to argue a case or cause. To argue a claim. To appeal earnestly. The Apostle Paul,under the direction of the Holy Spirit. Tells us in verse one a key to the remaining twenty verses of Romans twelve. For without this first step we can never fulfill the remaining twenty verses in our lives. This first step is to give our Bodies to the Lord, to give ourselves completely to God. As a living, breathing, daily sacrifice. Paul says we are to do this because of everything God has done for us. The Heavenly Father has given us everything He has to give. Starting with His only son So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn't hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn't gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God's chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us who was raised to life for us! is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ's love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture: They kill us in cold blood because they hate you. We're sitting ducks; they pick us off one by one. None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I'm absolutely convinced that nothing nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable absolutely nothing can get between us and God's love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us. Romans 8:32 (The Message Bible) Paul not only suggests that we give ourselves to God, He pleads with us. Paul the man who wrote 2/3 of the New Testament, used by God more than any other person in the Bible except for Christ Himself. Paul Begs us to take this first step and present and offer our Bodies to God as a living Sacrifice to Our Father in Heaven. 2. This is truly the way to worship God.
3 True worship to God is more than raising our hands to Heaven and singing a song. Or playing an instrument. Every time we obey God, every time we lay down our will and yield to God's will we are offering ourselves as a sacrifice to Him. This is the purest and truest for of worship we can present to God. 3.Don t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. The way we obey God in the midst of every temptation the World offers us is to renew our minds to the Word of God. As our mind goes so goes our actions. 7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he...proverbs 23:7 The Jewish people and their explanation of the meaning of a man's heart is different from what we perceive it to be here in the west. In the U.S we think of heart as emotions or feelings, but the Jewish meaning the true meaning of heart in this verse is the Mind. So we could say it like this... As a man thinks in His mind so is He. That is why it is of vital importance we renew our carnal fleshly worldly minds to the word of God. As our minds become renewed by the Holy Bible we than think like God thinks. And as we think is how we will act. The Christian who refuses to renew their mind with the word of God every day, will never fully walk in victory over sin, and walk in obedience to God. 22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice... 1 Samuel 15:22 4.Don t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves. Just because we obey God's word and do as God commands us, we should never allow ourselves to get puffed up with pride. When we are in the presence of sinners and heathens we should never think we are better than them because we are Christians or because we aren't doing the sinful acts they are. It is only by God's mercy and grace we are where we are and we need to always remember that. Any victory we have over sin is only by the strength and faith God has graciously granted us. We are nothing special nothing unique. Christ in us gives us the ability we enjoy. It's all about Him.
4 5.God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability...do it well and do it gladly without complaining. The Body of Christ has many parts all working together, no one part is greater or more important than the other, from the Head Pastor to the church janitor we are each special and important to God and His calling on our life. Whatever Gift or talent God has given you we are commanded to operate in that gift to the very best of our ability, to take it seriously and to do it gladly without complaining. Many ministers and church workers get burnt out because they are always giving and never receiving. If you are ministering on a regular basis then it is of the utmost importance you take the time just you and God and renew yourself recharge your batteries if you will. 18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18 The original Greek reads like this keep on being filled constantly and continually. 6.Don t just pretend to love others. Really love them. There is no greater command given to the believer than to Love your Neighbor. This is not always an easy task but it is not optional. God requires us to Love people, because God Loved us when we did not deserve it, we must Love others even when they don't deserve it. Love is not a feeling Love is a choice we make. When I Love my enemy my flesh doesn't like that person, but my Renewed mind and my Spirit takes over and my actions are Love not revenge or hate. Again this is a choice not a feeling. But as we mature in our Love walks by practicing it over and over, eventually our emotions and feeling will catch up to decision we made to Walk in Love. 7.Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. We must not only avoid sin, we must learn to hate it. Hate Evil and wrongdoing with all you're being, and hold on tight to what is good and right.
5 8.Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. God hates laziness. Even from the beginning Adam was charged with taking care of the Garden of Eden. To work and have a purpose is a good thing. There are those who refuse to work who are lazy and expect everything to be given to them. Every able bodied able minded individual ought to have a job and work and work hard and have some pride in what they do. It's not always easy getting up and going to work but if we do it unto the Lord as a way to Honor Him and be thankful He has given us the ability to gain wealth, it makes it easier. You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth Deuteronomy 8: Don't you remember the rule we had when we lived with you? "If you don't work, you don't eat." And now we're getting reports that a bunch of lazy good-for-nothings are taking advantage of you. This must not be tolerated. We command them to get to work immediately no excuses, no arguments and earn their own keep. Friends, don't slack off in doing your duty. 2 Thessalonians 3:10 The Message Bible 9.Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. 5-6Don't be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, "I'll never let you down, never walk off and leave you," we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I'm fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me? Hebrews 13:5 (The Message Bible) 16-18So we're not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There's far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can't see now will last forever. 2 Corinthians 4:18 (The Message Bible)

Romans 12:19b-21 No one ever gets away with treating someone else badly, never. One of two things will always happen one, they will repent and God will forgive them for treating other badly, and God will deal with their hearts and teach them to Love others. Or two, they will continue to do evil and treat people badly, God will give them a great deal of mercy and patience, God will give them plenty of chances to repent and make things right. But if they do not turn from their wicked ways God's wrath and judgment will come upon them and their lives. You do not want God as your enemy. Hatred and Unforgivingness is one thing God absolutely will not tolerate us doing. Bob Jones one of the greatest modern day Prophets died back in the 1970's and went to Heaven. He was revived and came back to earth and is alive today in his 80's but when He was in Heaven standing before God the question He said God asked Him was Did you learn to Love? What a question, how powerful a question. Ask yourself what would be your response? Have you learned to Love? 11.Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. As Christians we should strive to be men and woman of Character. Always try our best to do the right thing, the Honorable thing. Even when it causes us personal pain or loss. To act the same way in public as we do in private. So that when people look at us at our lives they say, we are a person of Honor, of Love, of Character, of Peace.
7 In Closing... If we will take the steps we have talked about above we will live our Christian life to the fullest extent possible. We will enjoy the favor and Blessing of God upon us and all we put our hands to do. We will be happy and full of peace. We will be ready and equipped to fulfill whatever call God has created us to accomplish. 11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) 1.Give yourself to God as a living Sacrifice 2.Worship God 3.Don't act the way the World Acts 4.Stay Humble 5.Do whatever you do well 6.Love Others 7.Hate Evil 8.Don't be Lazy 9.Be patient stay in Faith 10.Bless your enemies 11.Be a person of Honor and character
