Sharing the Gospel 5. Following Up Classes will be a mixture of prayer, lecture, discussion, and workshops. The goal of this class is not just to give us knowledge but to offer us skills and tools to engage people with the beauty of the Gospel 1

2 1/24/17 Class Disclaimer There is no formula. There are tools, Scripture, the Holy Spirit, and love. Understanding The Story of God If we are going to invite people into a personal relationship with the Creator of the Universe, it is important that we understand the broader story of what God is doing in the world. In the last 2 sessions we laid out The Story of God. This is different than understanding how to share The Gospel, even though the 2 are linked. And a reminder, it is all about Jesus. 2

We are looking to answer the question: How do I open up spiritual conversations? 3

Eternity is in the balance, and empowered by the Holy Spirit - we are God s means of disciple making. We engage with people because we Love God and because we Love People (Matthew 22:36-40). 4

When it comes to Disciple Making, we focus on the ideas of CONNECT, SERVE, and SHARE. What does it mean to CONNECT? 5

But many times God wants us to share with the people right in front of us. 7

8 Considering the people we have in our spheres of influence, now look at Acts 17 with me, and then we will look at 2 Corinthians 5:20. (From Glenn View Baptist Church) So we see the people to whom God has connected us but how do we OPEN the conversation? Class Exercise: - 10 minutes - Talk in small groups of 3-5 people about ways you might/have opened spiritual conversations - Please have multiple people share (don t turn it into a lecture) 8
