4 A Special Message to You from God! My children, your heavenly Father has much to say to each of you. I sent My Son, Jesus, to die for you so that you and I can meet together to talk and to listen to each other. You are so precious to Me and I want to fill you up with My love from the tips of your toes to the tops of your head and then to even flow out from you to those around you. I will speak softly to you if you let Me and I will express My love for you in lots of ways. You see, I have great plans and endless desires for you. For I have plans to build you up and to go with you to many places; places you have not even thought of! I am your best friend. I want you to know Me better just like friends know each other. Friends spend time together because they care about each other. I invite you on this new journey with Me and I promise that not only will you experience more of Me in your life as you learn to hear My voice, but you will grow and grow under the shower of My love for you when you spend time with Me. Remember this, My children, My love for you will surround you all of your days! There is nothing you can do to turn My love away from you. I love you. I love you. I love YOU!!! Will you begin this journey with Me, and let Me write My words to each of you across your heart? I have so much I want to share with you, dear children! 4

5 Get Ready... Get Set... Grow! Get ready! You are beginning an exciting adventure with God! Get set! The Holy Spirit, your Teacher, will lead you to the feet of Jesus where you can listen and learn and love and grow! Grow! row! As you learn more and more how to hear God s voice, you will be growing in your relationship with the One who loves you more than you can possibly imagine! 5

7 Can you imagine calling a friend on the telephone to share about your day, to ask for his or her opinion on these things, to say how important your friend is to you and then hang up without waiting for a response? Would you believe this one-way conversation is how most peoples prayers sound like...day after day? Have you ever noticed that when you spend time with a friend two things happen: talking and listening? Have you ever thought that when we spend time with God the same needs to happen: talking & listening? Now then, my sons, listen to me; pay attention to what I say. Proverbs 7:24 You will pray to Him and He will hear you. Job 22:27 I talk to Jesus and He listens. Jesus talks to me and I listen. 7

8 It s hard to listen to someone if we don t know where they are. Let s look at the Bible to see where God is. Let s read Galatians 2:20 Christ l i_ m_. Christianity is a relationship with Jesus, the King of all Kings. Jesus came to earth to communicate directly with us. He had to take our place as a substitute sacrifice and die, live again to prove His victory and His power over death, and sit at God s right hand to intercede for us. So He sent us His Holy Spirit, and by means of this Spirit to spirit encounter, we communicate with God. As I direct my heart and mind to seek the Lord, His Spirit speaks into my heart, directly impressing His thoughts and ideas upon it. He sent His very own Holy Spirit to live inside of our heart. 8

9 Jesus said, Let the little children come to Me. Luke 18:16 Let s read 1 Samuel 3:2-11 Was Samuel a child? Did God speak to him? Was he able to hear God? Do you think you could hear Him speaking to you too? Prayer is not doing something, it is being with Someone! Remember that HE is in you!!! You will hear Him deep inside of you, that is, in your spirit. 9

10 Hearing God s voice according to Habakkuk Habakkuk 2:1,2 I will stand on my guard post And station myself on the rampart; And I will keep watch to see what He will speak to me, And how I may reply when I am reproved. Then the Lord answered me and said, "Record the vision And inscribe it on tablets Habakkuk went to a place where he could be alone and become still....i will stand on my guard post... He watched to see what God would say....and I will keep watch He tuned to the flow of words and pictures....to see what He will speak to me He wrote down what he saw....record the vision... 10

11 Steps to hearing God s voice 1. I quiet myself. Ps. 46:10- Be still and know that I am God. 2. I picture Jesus. Hebrews 12: let us run the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus 3. I tune to the flow of words and pictures that gently light upon my heart. John 7:38 - Rivers of living water will flow from the heart of anyone who believes in Me. 4. I write it down. Revelation 1:11 - Write in a book what you see. Special Key Stay focused on Jesus and not on what or who I am praying about. 11
