Surprise! Surprise! The late actor Jim Nabors (Gomer Pyle) would often exclaim in his southern drawl, Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! Those words were appropriate for the surprises our congregation was able to achieve this week. First things first: I am so glad that you are with us today for one of my favorite Sundays of the year, High School Graduation Sunday. We honor this morning an outstanding group of seniors, as we help them mark this milestone in their lives. Peyton Boone is the son of Deana and Marc Boone, and the grandson of Carl and Martha Goodrich. He is graduating from Tattnall Square Academy and plans to attend Georgia Southern University in the fall. Brandon Goodrich is the son of John Goodrich, and also the grandson of Carl and Martha Goodrich. Brandon is graduating from Howard High School and plans to attend Middle Georgia State. Owen Hester, the son of Amy and Darren Hester, is graduating from Central High School and plans to attend Mercer University. Aygun Rajabova is the daughter of Dexter Scott. She is graduating from Central High School and plans to attend Mercer University. Sloane Ramsbottom is the daughter of Kristy and Robert Wilson, and the granddaughter of Charles and Kerry Jay. Sloane is graduating from Stratford Academy and will be attending Georgia College. We pray God s richest blessings upon all these graduates! I want to express my profound gratitude to all of you who participated in our inaugural mission auction. What an amazing evening! Thanks to everyone who donated items to the auction, to everyone who submitted a bid, and to all of the participants in the Puerto Rico Mission Trip who helped make the auction so successful. I especially want to thank Jim Jones,, and the entire Mission Team for having the vision to embrace this fund-raising idea and the courage to carry it through to fruition. Thank you! Thank you to you all! We raised almost $7,300 during the evening. What a surprise! Combined with what we made through the mission banquet, we have raised almost $11,000 for our Puerto Rico Mission trip! Thank you all! Thanks also to everyone who had a hand in celebrating Charlie Jay s 80th birthday party. You achieved the impossible: you kept the secret, and Charlie was completely surprised. Thanks to everyone who submitted a card or letter, thanks to everyone who came to congratulate him! Special thanks go to Martha Goodrich for preparing Charlie s birthday cake. What a special tribute to a special man. Again, thank you all! With one amazing week behind us, we have another amazing week ahead. I remind all of our visitors and new members of the dinner to be held in your honor this Tuesday, May 22, at 6:30 pm, in the church parlor. Please let us know whether or not you will be able to attend. Melissa s delicious lasagna will be our main course. Our spring church conference will be this Wednesday at 6:30 pm. We will approve our Nominating Committee s Report for the church year , which begins July 1. Don t forget also the church picnic at Amerson Park on Wednesday, May 30. We will start serving at 5:30. We will enjoy a make your own sandwich buffet, enjoy a singalong, and afford time for games and activities. Come and fellowship with us! This morning s worship also features a time of recognition for our graduating sixth graders who are transitioning into the youth program. The young people to be recognized are Andrew DeFore, Conner Boone, Annalise Milam, Cole Millet, and Charlie Scott. We are delighted to be able to watch these young people growing up in faith in our midst. A word from your grateful pastor, Dr.

Wednesday: How do you want to serve this summer? Come to youth on Wednesday as we make a student-led mission plan for the summer as we seek to serve the Macon community and beyond! Youth room at 6:30 pm. Next Sunday: No youth evening activities. Enjoy the long weekend! MFUGE: June 18 through the 23rd, serving in the Greenville, South Carolina area. Sign-ups have been in the youth room, and the $ camp fee is due to Angela by Sunday, June 3rd. Please see Angela if you have questions. Red Cross Blood Drive The Red Cross Blood Drive was a great success. Twenty-four pints of blood were collected. Thank you to all who donated. Puerto Rico Team Meeting There will be a Puerto Rico team meeting tonight at 6:00pm in the youth room. Trip members, please make every effort to be there! Thank You Thank you for helping support the auction to benefit Puerto Rico missions! The mission team, Puerto Rico team, and organizers are so grateful for the time, money, support, and attention given to our money-raising efforts, and we can celebrate a great response from you all!
