2 POINTS TO PONDER SEMINARIAN APPEAL This weekend is our Seminarian Appeal The Diocese has 14 seminarians this year, the largest group in many years, and the Diocesan Appeal no longer meets all the needs of our seminarians You probably received a letter from Bishop Amos in the mail Everyone is asked to respond as they are able Envelopes are also in the pews Please use the envelope you received in the mail or one that is in the pew and return it by dropping it in the collection basket or mailing it directly to the Diocese at: 780 West Central Park Avenue; Davenport, IA; Thank you for any help you can provide MARK YOUR CALENDAR On the first Saturday of June, Ross Epping will be ordained to the priesthood at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport Then on the weekend of June 11-12, he will come back to Holy Family and celebrate Mass with us Let s continue to pray for Ross VARIETY SHOW UPDATE Holy Family Parish is hosting a Family Variety Show on Saturday, April 30th, at McAleer Hall, beginning with a casual supper immediately following the 4:00 pm Mass, with the Variety Show beginning at approximately 6:00 pm ADMISSION to the Variety Show will be one or more canned goods to be donated to the local food pantry We have a great mix of talent lined up for you already so please come and support our performers as they sing, play, dance and strut their stuff!! By a third grader A grandmother is a lady who has no children of her own She likes other people s little girls and boys A grandfather is a man grandmother He goes for walks with the boys, and they talk about fishing and stuff like that Grandmothers don t have to do anything except to be there They re old so they shouldn t play hard or run It is enough if they drive us to the market where the pretend horse is, and have a lot of dimes ready Or if they take us for walks, they should slow down past things like pretty leaves and caterpillars They should never say hurry up Usually grandmothers are fat, but not too fat to tie your shoes They wear glasses and funny underwear They can take their teeth and gums off Grandmothers don t have to be smart, only answer questions like, Why isn t God married? and How come dogs chase cats?
