Agenda includes consideration of a recommendation from the Director of Youth Ministry Call Committee to extend a Call to a candidate for this position. Also included Financial Update. Nursery care will be provided. Fuego volcano in Guatemala erupted June 3rd. As a result, 100+ people have been killed, hundreds injured and thousands displaced. CALMS is asking for help in response to this disaster. If you would like to donate to this effort, a door offering will be taken next week, June 16th & 17th, or you can find an online giving link at dsomaha.org. Your input is critical to assessing our readiness for a campaign and what it should include. Plans under consideration include building a ministry center to offer Christian child care, worship and other connections to families at our new property at 168 th Street and West Giles Road; establishing a Christian child care center in the lower level of our current facility to expand the ministry of Little Lamb Preschool; paying down debt; and helping advance college campus ministry in Nebraska. Meetings after services will be held: Saturday-- 6:00pm (Chapel) Sunday--9:00am (Trinity Room) 11:00am (Chapel) 12:00 (Chapel) Please make plans to attend one of these meetings! Kids can watch a movie in the Trinity Room during the 11:00 meeting. Child care is also available for all sessions. Capital Campaign Meetings--we need your input. Divine Shepherd leaders want to know your thoughts about a potential capital campaign to provide resources to connect more families to Jesus. This is the final weekend for the informational meetings. These 45-minute sessions will include a presentation of needs for a campaign, your questions and comments, and your filling out a brief survey to give your thoughts on a campaign. Divine Shepherd has contracted with a campaign consulting firm, James D. Klote & Associates, to help with the study. Sermon Series for Summer Questions God Asks We are all too familiar with the questions we have for God: Why is there so much suffering in the world? Why don t you make my loved one well? Why don t you stop evil things from happening? But have you ever thought of the questions God asks, like, Where are you? or Why do you call me good? or Do you think I came to bring peace? Why would God ask questions?

Matthew 16:13-20 Adult Bible Studies: Sunday Morning Adult Study Pastor Hannemann leads a study in the Chapel at 9:00am. The current study is Paul, Apostle of Christ. Grab a cup of coffee, your Bible, and join us! Bring a friend. Exploring Luther s Large Catechism Tuesdays, 10:00am Luther Chapel, led by Pastor Hannemann. This is a great study for our observance of the 500 th Anniversary Year of the Reformation. The Usher and Greeter Ministry Needs You-- both are a great way to get to know other church members and a good way to serve the Lord. We are especially in need of ushers at the 10:00 and 11:10am services. Led by Dena Nigh. Mission LWML Leaguer available. The new Spring Leaguer is available in the Atrium. Inside you will find the information for the upcoming LWML District Convention on June in Norfolk, NE. The work season for 2018 begins on Saturday, July 14, A new home will be built next door to last year s home in Waterloo. The home will be for Shanita and her daughter, Arion. Shanita moved from Georgia to Omaha four years ago. She and Arion cannot wait to move into their new home and they are already busy planning the décor for Arion s first room of her own. Divine Shepherd currently has four dates to provide meals: August 17 & 18 and October 12 & 13. There are many fun opportunities for kids this summer at Divine Shepherd. We need many volunteers to help these programs run smoothly. 3 in the fall. Join us as we travel back to ancient Babylon and meet Daniel and his friends. We will learn that God is ALWAYS with you! We need lots of decorations for VBS in order to turn the church into ancient Babylon. Do you have some of these items we could borrow: baskets, colorful pieces of fabric, terra-cotta pottery, rugs, greenery, blankets and any other props which look like they could be from ancient Babylon. Please be sure to attach your name to your items. These items can be dropped off to Trish in the office. Thank you! High School Students, join us for discussion time on Sundays in the Youth Room at 9:00am. Tia Kosiski, our new Interim Youth Director and Community Life Assistant, will be leading a new study. This day trip to Kansas City is coming right up. Many thanks to all of you who contributed to the Undie & Sock Sunday project we had in May for the Orphan Grain Train. We had a fantastic response. The grand totals were: 12 tee shirts, 410 underwear & 280 pairs of socks. We re so happy with your generous help. Keep looking for more special projects as the year goes by. Tonya Isaac, Director of Little Lamb Preschool, has declined her Call to serve as 3 rd grade teacher at Christ the King Lutheran Church & School in Lake Ozark, MO. We thank God for His answer to Tonya in this Call process and that she will be remaining in ministry with us. Good Grief Discussion Group Though we often wish it was not this way, the pain of loss is a part of living, and the losses we experience give rise to the very normal processes of grief and grieving. Our Western culture is particularly adept at ignoring loss, grief and grieving, often choosing instead to live in denial. Yet since loss and grieving are a part of God s design, then recovery is also part of His plan. If you are experiencing pain and difficulty related to loss, Divine Shepherd is offering a four week group to explore the realities of grief, and ways we can find comfort and navigate through it. The group will be facilitated by Harry and Sherry Mathis, who spent many years ministering in the Air Force Chaplain Corps. It will meet on four Thursday evenings beginning June 21, from 7:30 to 8:30. If you would like to join the group, please call the church office to reserve a spot. Also, consider sharing this offering to someone you know who is grieving. The June outing for the Gourmet Group will be on Sunday, June 24th at Agave Azteca at 5170 S. 72nd St, Suite 106.
