1 Why go on an exposure mission trip? 2015 Exposure Mission Trips Informational Packet and Application Exposure mission trips can have an incredible impact for God s kingdom in two ways. First, they are a blessing to the local missionaries and local church. Exposure groups are able to provide the labor and funding to accomplish projects that could not be done on the local level. Second, exposure mission trips spiritually impact the lives of the individuals on the trip. In a very real sense, our eyes are opened to see the world the way God sees it. Make no mistake about it, an exposure mission trip can be an incredible spiritual experience. What an exposure mission trip is and is not: A misson trip is NOT a glorified vacation a sight seeing tour just a new adventure to undertake a great video shoot for our church A mission trip is an opportunity to sacrifice time and money an opportunity to serve others instead of self an opportunity to listen to God s call for your life an opportunity to broaden your view of neighbor an opportunity to join Jesus in making all things new an opportunity to love God and love your neighbor Who can go on an exposure mission trip? In simple terms, the answer is almost anyone. Our vision for Northside exposure mission trips is multi generational. We want high school students, college aged students, singles, married, retired and everyone in between to serve alongside each other for the kingdom of God. However, make sure you pay attention to the minimum age for each trip.

2 Haiti July 7 16, 2015 Lifeline Christian Mission Cost: $1995 Min. age: High school freshman Max group size: 15 people* *While Lifeline can accommodate up to 40 in Haiti, we will be attending with other churches and are only guaranteed 15 spots. If room permits, we may be able accommodate more. Who is Lifeline Christian Mission? For more than 30 years Lifeline Christian Mission has been restoring hope by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of people around the world while involving people from the United States and Canada in the ministry work of fulfilling the Great Commission. Founded in 1980 by Bob and Gretchen DeVoe, Lifeline began serving in Haiti and today ministry extends to at least 8 nations or people groups, ministering to tens of thousands of people on any given day and engaging thousands of people in Great Commission work weekly. What will we do? Each participant: Shares their own prepared devotion with the team during one of our devotion times. Participates in home visits for personal witnessing, prayer and sharing with the people in the communities where Lifeline is ministering. Has opportunity to teach children and adults through programs such as Christian schools, VBS, Ladies Worship and Praise, Nutrition Programs and more. Shares in physical projects such as construction, painting, gardening, electrical work, masonry, carpentry, plumbing, cooking, distributing clothing/toys/food, cleaning and much more. Has a time of rest/relaxation, recreation, sightseeing and shopping for native cultural artwork and crafts. How much will it cost? The total estimated cost of the trip will be $1995 per person. This cost includes your airfare, lodging, food, transportation, project supplies, insurance and support for the missionaries to coordinate all infield activities. Additional costs include the purchase of a passport, immunizations, prophylactic medications, some minimal supplies, money for souvenirs and meals while traveling.

3 Piedras Negras, Mexico March 7 14, 2015 CrossRoads Missions Cost: $600 Min. age: Sixth grader with parent or high school freshman without parent Max group size: 30 people Who is CrossRoads? CrossRoads Missions is based in Louisville, Kentucky, and we got to know CrossRoads Missions through their program Help Build Hope. We built the walls for two homes here on our church property in 2010 and 2011, and then built walls during the 2012 high school week at Maranatha Bible Camp. CrossRoads Missions has been working in Piedras Negras, Mexico, since 1993 and is actively involved in community development and ministry. Piedras Negras is at the northern border of the state of Coahuila, Mexico, sitting across the Rio Grande from Eagle Pass, Texas. Past work projects have included the construction of two churches, two schools, an orphanage and many single family homes. We work to improve the education, housing and environment for families by partnering with local ministries, empowering them to be the face of Christ in their communities. What will we do? A typical week includes: Praise/devotions/teaching Worship is the focus of the week, so we have times of praise, personal devotions, small groups and teaching to prepare and challenge us. Construction projects CrossRoads staff will lead you in a wide variety of construction projects for people of all skill levels. Trained staff and interns will supervise work, including concrete, drywall, tile, roofing, painting and other various jobs. Community programs During the week, your group will spend time ministering in the community through kids programs, soup kitchens, hospital feeding programs, meals and community events for all ages. Fellowship Your group will spend time in fellowship with other churches from the states and the local church. Evening activities include a cookout, game nights and other activities to experience the culture. How much will it cost? The total estimated cost of the trip will be $600 per person. This cost includes your lodging, food, transportation, project supplies, insurance and support for the missionaries to coordinate all infield activities while in Mexico. Additional costs include the purchase of a passport, immunizations, some minimal supplies, money for souvenirs, money for food on the road and a meal at the market.

5 How do I sign up? Participants can sign up by filling out an Exposure Mission Trip Application and paying the appropriate deposit by the application deadline for each trip. The application deadlines and deposit amounts for each trip are listed below: Haiti: November 23 Exposure Mission Trip Application and $200 deposit due. Mexico: November 23 Exposure Mission Trip Application and $100 deposit due. If you need a passport or need to renew a passport, this is also the deadline for you to submit the paperwork to the passport agency. Memphis: February 1 Exposure Mission Trip Application and $50 deposit due. An online application is available at trips/. What happens after I sign up? Let me start off by saying, Congratulations for signing up! After you have paid your initial deposit and filled out the Application for an Exposure Mission Trip, you will receive a next steps packet that is more specific to your trip. It will include information on raising support, dates for team meetings and important deadlines, and details on the Kairos Course. Enroll in the Kairos course Part of the participant cost for the Mexico and Haiti trips includes enrollment in the Kairos Course. The Kairos Course is a nine lesson, interactive study of God s heart for the nations, from Genesis to the end of the age. Kairos will increase your understanding of the importance of missions and prepare you for your international trip. Focusing on the biblical, historical, strategic and cultural dimensions of missions, this course seeks to align every believer s worldview with God s heart for the nations and mobilize the whole Church for His global mission. Kairos classes will begin January 4, 2015, and will be held from 3 5:30 p.m. at NCC. The full list of course dates is available at If you have already taken the Kairos Course, you do not have to take it again. But, we d love to have you as a facilitator. If you are going on the Memphis trip, we d love to have you join us for the Kairos Course. Enrollment in the course costs $40 and will need to be paid separate from your trip, as the Memphis participant fees do not include the Kairos Course.

6 How to raise support? Personally, here are some great ways to raise support: Send letters to friends and family to financially partner with you on this trip. As a note, all donations are tax deductible. Look for work or odd jobs to help save up the money. This could be involve cleaning someone s house, mowing yards, babysitting, etc. Instead of Christmas or birthday presents, ask your family to support your trip. If you have a connection with other churches, ask the missions team to support you on your trip. I know this is a large amount of money for many people. But through church support and personal work, it can be accomplished. God has the resources, and He is more than able to provide.
